Accroche-toi à ton rêve Accroche-toi à ton rêve Quand tu vois ton bateau partir Quand tu sens ton coeur se briser Accroche-toi à ton rêve It is the first verse sung again in French. Great track from ELO
I just saw ELO live Sunday night in San Diego. They are still amazing. Every song they performed was perfection. Jeff Lynne sounds just like he sounded 40 years ago. What a treat it was seeing them.
Was that a one off show, Vet Aid? As they currently are not touring. Saw them 4 or 5 years ago, they were brilliant although very expensive tickets but I got second row mid stage seats.
I first fell in love with ELO in the 70s and have loved them ever since. I think they are singing in French even though the subtitles are for different languages. They have a sound all their own and Jeff Lynne is a musical genius.
ELO is one of the bands that Beatles fans gravitated to after the Beatles breakup. They carried on with the orchestral style of Sgt. Pepper. You've done a lot of ELO. I recommend "All Over The World" which was one of their Xanadu numbers. Cool video too IMO..
It's a great sound. A real prelude to "The Traveling Wilburys." I always consider Jeff Lynne to be one of the few musical genuises. Absolutely adore listening to some ELO classics when they performed live at Wembley Stadium in 2017. Amazing music! 👍
Yeah, it's just the same lyric in French. Hold on to your dream Hold on to your dream When you see your boat leave When you feel your heart breaking Hold on to you dream
I still remember when I saw them in 1981… I was only 13 years old and I’ve been listening to them ever since…. One of my favorite bands!!!!!! So many classics!!!! Keep discovering great music Jay and Amber….
This was the big hit from one of the last albums by the original lineup. The album was called Time & was really recorded to be listened to from start to finish in one go as there were tracks Prologue & Epilogue at start & finish, & was set in the future when time travel was available.
@@vinsgraphics I second that, my favorite ELO album as well. Here is the News always in my head when I watch news on TV. And Ticket to the Moon will probably be my favorite song on this, although difficult to choose really...
“Time” was a concept album telling a story of a man who time travels from 1981 to the year 2095. A lot of the sounds were futuristic and the lyrics often sci-fi related. This track was a bit different sonically, as it had a more rockabilly vibe. As a Canadian I appreciate the sudden and random switch to French for part of the song 😆. I heard this music video cost a lot of money to make for that time (1981). Great album full of masterpieces.
Jay & Amber, you'll love their "Fire On High"!!! edit- about 2 yrs ago you did "Psycho Killer" by TheTalking Heads and they sang parts of the chorus and a verse in French.
This track is from ELO's concept album, 'Time.' Basically, the storyline is about a guy from the 80s who time travels to 2095, gets stuck and misses the simplicity of the past, as well as his girlfriend. It's a great album. If you want to hear a bit of a different sound from ELO, you might want to listen to another track from 'Time' called 'Ticket to the Moon' - one of my favourite ELO songs. It's Jeff Lynne (the man from the 80s) singing about trying to find an escape from the strange world he finds himself in now. It's lyrically quite beautiful and has a really haunting tone. Most ELO fans consider it a classic. Also another slightly different sound is 'Wild West Hero.' And for a quirky, storytelling ELO track try 'The Diary of Horace Wimp.'
"Ticket To The Moon," where the first lyrics are "remember the good, old 1980s, when things were so uncomplicated ..." Sung at the start of the '80s but how many of us have said that here in 2023.
This whole album was just amazing....as with most of their later albums it follows a story....gotta listen to it all the way through. I have worn out so many copies of this album....

Time (1981) is a thematic album. It's a full story in an album. It looks like it might be Thai or something in the video. This isn't the official video. Eldorado (1974) was another big thematic album for them, with elements of The Wizard of Oz. The cover is ruby slippers and green witches hands. Can't Get it Out of My Head being the big single there. I recommend listening to both albums in their entirety to hear was was intended.
Jeff Lynne worked on some of the later Beatles tunes. John Lennon referred to Jeff as the 5th Beatle. So, it shouldn't be surprising that ELO has some Beatlesque sound to their music.

Thank you so much ❤❤❤ - my favourite ELO song of all time! Amber is absolutely right of course "Accroche-toi (bien) à ton rêve" - "Hold on tight to your dream". It used to be very common to put a French verse in many English songs (usually just a repeat of one of the English verses which is what ELO do). Look at "Denis" by Blondie, "Jennifer Juniper" by Donovan and so many more. The whole of the "Time" is absolutely outstanding especially "Here is the News" and "Twilight" (as well as Hold of Tight). "Sunday Girl" (there's a version of this with a French verse in) and "Denis" by Blondie are fabulous too of course 🥰❤ (Denis - being a French MALE name of course).
