BG Music:
Cant lose with ELO man.
Jeff Lynne is a musical genius
This song was originally written for the movie musical "Xanadu" (1980). Xanadu starred Olivia Newton-John, Michael Beck, the legendary song, dance man and film director Gene Kelly. The entire film had songs written by Jeff Lynne for ELO or by John Farrar for Olivia Newton-John, except one song, "Xanadu" which was performed by Olivia Newton-John with ELO. In the scene with this song, Kira and Sonny (Olivia Newton-John and Michael Beck) take Danny (Gene Kelly) to a boutique to find clothes for a nightclub opening, a nightclub created by Sonny and Danny called "Xanadu".
The movie soundtrack also has three other ELO songs... "Don't Walk Away", "I'm Alive", and "The Fall", which you guys should react to as well.
Those Xanadu ELO songs are wonderful. What a weird movie, though.
@@RhettAnderson A tan Olivia newton-John roller skating in a split dress and singing. Perfect movie IMO. :D
Movie rocked 🤘
Xanadu sucked as a moive
I don't think there's ever been such a bad movie with great music (Okay; maybe some 50s stuff). Jeff Lynne often referred to it as "that awful f*****g movie". Too bad, because I think "All Over the World" and "Don't Walk Away" are classic JL stuff. I actually like the movie, but I think that the idea of blending 1940s musicals with a 1979 grandkids audience was doomed to failure. They just don't GET all the singing and dancing entertainment. And I loved ONJ back then, so I kind of imagined myself as Sonny.
I was obsessed with this song when it came out the summer of 1980. I even bought the 45 single. Great song!
I still have all my Xanadu 45s!
Nice! I wish I'd kept mine. They must be somewhere in my parent's house.
I did too😊
Still have the soundtrack album on LP in new condition. Wonder what it's worth now.Maybe 10 bucks?
ELO is just so freakin awesome. The happiest band ever!!
Yes!! More E.L.O. - More E.L.O. - More E.L.O. ... I hope you two lovebirds will remember his ( Jeff Lynne ) voice from The Traveln' Wllburys ... you didn't recognize him back when you reviewed them. He is a stud.
I can’t be sad when I listen to this song 😊
Watch any song from their Live Concert in Hyde Park from 2014. Huge crowd, decent weather (for once) and a superb performance.
Brad & Lex, you’ll love their "Do Ya”!!!
Will ya ?
100% agree.
Fantastic rock song.
As a college DJ I blasted songs from "A New World Record" whenever I could, and the phone would ring up every time I played "Do Ya". I had to school them that this was an old Roy Wood and The Move song. "Look out, baby; there's a train a-comin'". 😁
I love these flash mobs, I think its so cool, looks so happy , and can you imagine the rehearsal it takes to dance together like this. I would love to be in one. Looks so fun everyone dancing together having fun and love the song I agree Brad I think it looks so cool that this many people can move together like this and enjoying themselves , I love it and to see it would be so neat. I think everyone looks to be happy and I love that
The "flash" got old really fast though. They were started for attention and included hundreds of people. Then they kept getting bigger and more common to where they were not at all unique or fun for everyone. They disrupted traffic (foot and auto) so became pretty annoying. Imagine trying to get to work or an important appointment and one of these mobs or "rent-a-crowd" exhibitions is blocking your way and cause you to miss the train, subway or bus.
Wah wah
@@evilfantasy69 Well I agree they should pick places that it does not interrupt others traffic or especially auto but if in a place that is open and free, then great.
@@MySherry10 Agreed but like I said these mobs started getting out of control. Being confined to public spaces wasn't enough to make the evening news or get a million views online so they were really bold in where/when they did them because most had some political or social message attached to them. I lived through these times and it went from fun to public nuisance seemingly overnight. Some countries even banned them throughout most of their cities if I remember correctly.
@@evilfantasy69 well if it didnt become about just having fun and they tried to use them for political or social messages I would not like that. For to me the idea was just about having fun
this video is a truly beautiful reminder of how music unites humanity...!!!!!!!!
ELO is not disco! They're a league of their own, and Jeff Lynne is brilliant!!
The whole world could use a fun time like this. 👍❤🤙
Hey guys what's up! Greetings from South florida! I'm not a huge ELO fan, but Jeff Lynne is a musical genius. His compositions are incredible. His production of the songs is amazing. This guy's produce some of the greatest albums of all time. He remixed The Beatles catalog. You guys rock! God bless you! Peace!
He did *not* "re-mix" The Beatles catalog, good grief, that is a gross insult to the man and his originality. smh
You are correct sir! I should have said he produced The Beatles for the songs real love and Free as a bird for their Anthology release. And he also produced much of The Beatles solo work. God bless you! Peace!
@@ShreddFly I accept your apology.
one of their Best! can't help but move the feet with ELO.
This album, the “Xanadu” soundtrack and “Discovery” came out during the disco era so there are several influences.
God this was out when I was about 12 years old. And on an ELO craze. Love this tune! So much Joy then and now. Great reaction to a fantastic band.
I just love ELO's vibe.
props for using this very fun and entirely unofficial FMV on this one - really pumps up the energy of the song
and no, as far as I no, none of these people were actually dancing to THIS song - the editor just did a great job syncing it up
When people talk about Jeff Lynne, they say things like, "He's the best guitarist I ever knew." Or, "He's the best singer I ever worked with." Or, "He's the best songwriter." Or, "He's the best producer." Just kinda a freak, bringing out the best of Tom Petty and others. I don't understand how someone can be so good at so many things.
I love how Lex amuses Brad so much - sign of a good couple!
Brad, you are right. Flashmobs are a joy.
So many good songs. Great band.
Im with Brad on this one
Yay, finally! Thanks guys, we all need this.
From the movie Xanadu - my favorite soundtrack. My favorite ELO song "The Fall" is also off this album.
Lex is the silliest cute thing I've ever, always a unique perspective.
E.L.O. have loads of great songs and Jeff Lynne (who comes from my home City of Birmingham, UK) is a great singer and producer. They sound just as good live as they do on the studio versions. This song is my favourite as it is such a happy song.
I didn't get into ELO too much when they were new. I wish I would have. They are all-round premo.
Seeing so many people involved gives me goosebumps.
I absolutely love this video! It’s just pure fun, feel good music and dancing! ELO is amazing!!🌺✌️
I'd love to be part of a flash mob! Especially if it's this song! 💕🌼
What!!! Experiencing a flash mob is on my bucket list.
Love this song. I think you would love "Do Ya"
So upbeat and joyful.
Your watching a video recently made. There was no flash mob vid for this song in 1980. Radio friendly song from the movie Xanadu
And another thing good on you Brad for seeing the amazing unity in a (dancing) flash mob!
Music is the universal language that everybody can feel good about, and how!
ELO is the best Beatles-esque group ever.
Lead man Jeff Lynneis a pure musical genius.
Their best hits include:
"Living Thing", " Telephone Line ", " Shine A Little Love", Strange Magic", "Evil Woman", Turn To Stone" and "Sweet Talkin' Woman".
"Lynne"
Love ELO “Hold On Tight” or “Here is the News” are other good ones from around the same time as this.
This is what the world needs after The Pandemic. Let's all celebrate together.
If a flash mob is going to dance to a (singular) song. They can practice in any size group as long as they have the same dance moves. Then when it's time, they can all come together because the beat (timing) of the dance, is the song itself. And since they practiced the same moves, it will be uniform.
Really difficult for me: All these songs from my era giving me the chills and Brad just sitting there.
Jeff Lynne has the most incredible voice...so much range (he sings the background vocals too).
Great song. Super simple but catchy!
If you see a flashmob, they are either dancing or robbing the store. LOL. Great observation.
2 locations for the dancing. Just after the crowd in wigs, at about 1 minute it is outside Buckingham Palace, you see the Victoria Memorial, most of the outside scenes are there. Then at 2mins 44 when the song starts clapping, they are at Liverpool Street station, it is the stairs from one of the entrances, there are ATM machinesin the background as well as the underground entrance back left.
ELO was my favorite concert in 1974. I was stationed in Great Lakes Naval Station. I saw them perform in Chicago. At the international amphitheater dec 5th
I'm with Brad on this one, I remember when those were a new phenomenon and it really was pretty amazing, this idea of all these people just kind of sign up for a particular event but it's all online, I don't think people to get together and practice, they just practice by watching a video and dancing and then the fun of it is they show up like they would normally be dressed in all walks of life and at the predetermined time in a predetermined location, there is some sort of trigger and then they all start doing it and until then they didn't even know who they're going to be doing it with. but as people start to do it they realize these are all the people that along with them had signed up to do it and it's a pretty cool spontaneous but with a little planning expression of a really creative and joyful side of human nature. I love it. but the fact that it haunts Lex's nightmares totally cracks me up.
ELO are a fantastic band! Jeff Lynne is a genius! They’re a British legendary band! Also Jeff Lynne has been in other massive bands and also produced some incredible musicians and acts 👌👌👌👏👏👏
Ok, you two crack me up. You guys ROCK!
Wow, another song I haven't heard in over 30 years.
This is just such a FUN sounding song!! And Lex is adorable, being terrified of flash mobs 😆
One thing about people are being together & getting in shape🤔💞
My Goodness this takes me back, thank you so much for doing this music. You can't help but shake your A$$ to som ELO. 😂
When I usually think of ELO I think of their older stuff so it was good to be reminded of this one...I do remember it...Not one of my fave but hey, its ELO and they just dont do anything bad.
sooo....if you guys ever do a meet and greet, please make it in a nice big open place like a mall...just for lex.
I argued with friends growing up on how good ELO is. They didn't know what is good.
Such a GREAT vibe
I'm from Shard End 😁 Jeff mentions it in this song as he is from there too
The only city in the song I had to look up!
Memory of the Year 2000 Celebrations brought me here!!
Everything Jeff Lynne does is genius most top hits of the 80s as ELO produced albums and co-wrote travelling wilburys Tom Petty George Harrison Beatles Roy Orbison Joe Walsh Paul McCartney that's just some of the names I can think of Jeff is a living legend 🎸💡🎻
Lex is definitely an ELO fan now
I love how Jeff Lynne lists all those exotic cities, and then his childhood home....."London, Hamburg, Paris, Rome
Rio, Hong Kong, Tokyo
L.A., New York, Amsterdam
Monte Carlo, Shard End and....", Shard End, an area of Birmingham, England.
What a cool ELO dance mix. 😎
Flash mobs are usually organised online. Someone will post the when and where along with the dance moves to learn
I thought that was a well put together to accompany that fantastic ELO song.
I remember the exact day I first heard this tune December 3, 1980. I was ten years old on my way back to the US from living three great years in Naples, Italy (my dad was in the navy). The plane we were on had headphones and had this tune (among other popular songs at the time) on a loop. I immediately fell in love with the song and later convinced my parents to buy me the whole Xanadu album (with other great tunes on the album by ELO and the late Olivia Newton-John). This is still such a catchy tune!
You can hear the influence on later groups like Tears For Fears.
Dancing is a gift from God to the humans , makes you happy and do what you want , for 5 minutes
everyone is happy .
XANADU!!!! I put the Entire Soundtrack from This Movie Almost on Par as "Saturday Night Fever". A few Songs by Olivia Newton John were "Xanadu", "Suspended in Time" ,"Magic" "Suddeny" (Duet with Cliff Richards) and "Whenever you're away from me" (duet with Gene Kelly). ELO did "All over the World", "The Fall", "I'm Alive", "Don't Walk away" and "Dancing".
The soundtrack so outdid the movie. 😉
ELO did not do Dancin'. ONJ's longtime songwriter and record producer, John Farrar, wrote and produced all of ONJ's songs for the movie "Xanadu" except the title track. He wrote and produced “Magic”, “Suddenly”, “Suspended in Time”, “Whenever You’re Away From Me”, “Dancin’” (the mashup with the Tubes), and “Fool Country”. He also wrote "You're the One that I Want" and "Hopelessly Devoted to You" for the movie "Grease". He also wrote many of her hits and album tracks.
I think it's beautiful to see people dancing instead of fighting❤
Paul! Great movie 🍿
ELO songs make me smile
This is like American country music's line dancing but with the gloves off, ELO people, the words are just not available in any language to describe the amazing jeff Lynn talent and genius it so crosses all cultures and people across this sad world at this time in history
One of my most favourite ELO tracks is 'Yours Truly, 2095'
I have to agree with Brad!
Keep waiting for 'The Diary of Horace Wimp' .. my favorite ELO
Had forgotten all about this song …. Such a treat
Investment is your only way up to financial freedom. financial growth happens with a steady engagement in financial stability through solid investment. those who leave it to market dynamics to determine when to trade or not are either new to the Market or are probably just naïve. The market has seen far worse times than this, enlightened traders are taking advantage of the dip and pumping even more towards trading sessions
I need to start investing

Most investing mistakes and losses usually occur when you invest without proper knowledge of the market. I was able to recoup my losses with him. I'm glad to know that many have already benefited from it.
You need to watch the roller skate scene from Xanadu (all over the world). That's what the song was actually written for.
Watch the movie, Xanadu, it's packed with great songs.
This was my go to song during lockdown....hoping for that time we could all enjoy the normal things we had taken for granted, like seeing family and friends, and socialising etc. This song was hope that one day, we would all be able to mingle again, even go shopping which I hate with a passion....Thank you ELO for keeping me positive!
электрики... 😍🤗
Wouldn't this be great to just have a block party or block off a street and everybody just get out and do your thing. I mean you cant help but dance when you hear this!!
this song is allmost as good as blue sky such a catchy tune make you wanna clap and move along...
I LOVE FLASH MOBS!! I'm so glad you did this great ELO song to my favorite flash Mob video. How I would have loved to have been part of one of those groups. Fantastic video, great reaction. Such a happy song!
Great song
You guys have to hear ELO Can't Get It Out Of My Head. One of their absolute best tunes available. Im sure you'll love this one guys. 😜
I'm glad you did the flash mob video it's cute
What can you say, it's Jeff Lynne and ELO. Love the video of the flash mobs, nice touch. This was also used in the movie "Paul" with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.
ELO is kind of there own genre. I’ve been listening since I was a kid and they are definitely a different music experience. Jeff Lynne is a genius.
I was going to recommend ELO. 2095 if you wanna hear a song ahead of it's time you gotta listen to the lyrics.
I think Lex has a flashback to Thriller when the flashmobs come out.😂
Thanks, Kids! This song is so beautiful and FUN! Love ELO...Jeff Lynne is one of the most under-rated singers, IMHO...
Either dancing or robbing a store floored me.
ELO's song 'Rock and Roll is King' has a few dance video's, the Spanish one is just great!
Need a bit of sunshine? Elo's got you.
we seemed more together going into the 70s and but more in the 80s
I don't believe all those people were dancing to this song. But it's a great song!
ELO makes me happy!! 😃
