    I’ve just been blessed with the discovery of your channel! You are my new guru. Thank you so much for sharing your experience and talents with us. I look so forward to learning and growing under your guidance. You have given me back my desire to paint again. Artist to artist, I know you know how much that means to my heart and soul. I can only move forward in my art to fully honour your gift to me, and with your guidance I hope to make both our hearts sing. Your name and gift will always be spoken of with gratitude. ❤️🙏

    I never thought of mixed colors as “recipes”. I’m new to watercolor but I’ve done mixing charts but didn’t think of organizing as I would actual recipes. This makes more sense to me. I believe I can organize on smaller cards and actually be able to find them. This may sound silly but it just makes it easier for me to keep colors organized. Thank you for this. ❤

    Thank you Michele for such concise and clear mixing instructions. I've struggled with apple green for years! Obviously using the "wrong" yellows and blues. My next stop is your video on getting more natural greens from greens in the paint box. Your description of strong and weak colours was very helpful, and will save me gallons of paint. Thank you for your wonderful tutorials.

    Thanks Michele. My favorite brown is raw umber. It mixes to many browns so nicely. But I cannot live without burnt sienna. Adjusting the yellow ochre and a good granular ultramarine can get a result very close to Daniel Smith Undersea Green without the hefty price tag. I still mostly work from a split primary pallet with a couple earth tones and Paynes grey. Since I don't do a lot of botanicals 😉😆💜

    One of my fellow pigment addicts/handmade paint artists, sent me isoindole yellow PY139 last month..she had gushed about the mixing capabilities, including beautiful, natural greens.
    Imagine my shock when I got what appeared to be an almost fluorescent ORANGE! I had my doubts! BUT, she was right and it’s now one of my favorite mixers!
    I also like my original PO49 for vibrant, natural greens. My only issue is depending on how and how well you mix it, you can end up with a very yellow halo after it dries. It’s not as bad as the much stronger yellow halo you get with the new Quin Gold mixes. I know some, like my daughter, mixes it specifically for the halo effect-I’m just not a fan in most paintings.

      I love trying new colours too and having fun. The Paynes Grey is gorgeous, and I love putting it on shadows on my still life to make shadows more more beautiful. I've been learning watercolours since lockdown in March in the UK and I have already made a simple colour palette so I can pick any one I need. It maybe worthwhile having a bit of fun and learning how to make different paint pigments from natural materials, perhaps from your own locality which is a fun adventure. Egg Tempera which was used a lot in the olden days is easy to make and is used as a binder, plenty of YT videos on to make it. So, in addition to my WC colours, I want to learn to paint from natural pigments which can be cheaper too. I think you can make your own yellow ochre too if you are in the right area for it which is cool. It make take a bit of time to make and you need a mask to make them as you have to grind them on a rock/pestle really really well. Distilled malt vinegar makes the pigment last longer too. Sorry to start you on a colour exploration addiction lol

    I played around with my water color pencils (since I have such a huge variety of colors!) And I made the grey out of Caran D'Ache Burnt Umber and Faber Castell Indigo. Made a lovely grey!. Most Burnt sienna's that I have either in watercolor or pencils are not as reddish as the one that you showed here. I love that you showed us a nice grey since I would not have thought of that!

    Off topic: Another thing I would like to learn is how to do shiny puddles on roads. I was inspired by walking up Old Bond Street at night the other day, and the road was sparkly with the rain and the lights and the old buildings and jewellery shops sparking as well. Just the sparkle on the roads with the lights was fantastic, it was like walking on glitter.

    As a chemist, cant let the pronunciation go by. It’s di-aryl-ide. Not Dairy-lide. There are no cows here. Also not pronounced like a journal that you write in.
    Pronounced more or less like dye-AIR-ul-eyed, it describes the chemical structure - 2 (di) aryl amides connected into a symmetrical structure. TMI, I know...

    • @FeathPymArt
      @FeathPymArt 3 роки тому +1

      @Andro mache It was the 'like you' that caused natasha to get hissy. 'Like you' made it personal. If you had said; why do people put 'first' in comments, then it would have been just a question. As Michele said, in the larger channels, with 1000+ comments in negative 15 minutes, it's the hope your comment will actually get seen. I've never done it, but I think you post 'first' to get up, then edit it with a witty comment later. I once posted a comment at 1,600+ comments, with actually needed information for people. I got 100 likes in a month, so it got seen, but not nearly as much as it needed to be.

    I think any of these new interesting watercolours, I will have them on my Christmas Wishlist, so I have something to look forward to. I still want to practice with the watercolours I have got at the moment. The guy at Cass Arts in London, said he learned more from art UA-camrs than on his Art Degree course. I taught him about Brusho and he had to google to find out what it was.

    • @IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber
      @IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber  3 роки тому

      How interesting! To be honest, many degree courses don't teach watercolours at all, I have had people in my classes far more qualified than me who have never been near watercolours. It's starting to improve, but there was a time when everything was acrylics and soft pastels as you don't need a lot of technique to get started and they are easy to pick up.
