Dianthas potential as a trainer is actually insane, out of all the trainers in the masters 8 she’s the one who is without a doubt the most busy and the one with the least amount of time to train cause of her packed schedule, and yet she still managed to make it to the top 4 in the world.imagine if she only focused on battling full time
@@laxusstrauss5945An actress is still far more occupied by other people than an archaeologist so she's very likely to have much less time for her to train
@@nishantdayama4558 and archeology is more like a hobby for Cynthia something she does for fun and can easily get out of anytime, not like acting where you have a packed strict schedule your forced to follow.

The writers would never spend an entire episode in the proper full six on six battle that doesn't include Ash, let alone 2 or 3 episodes, for example Paul vs Cynthia was supposdly a full battle but cynthia only uses her Garchomp and defeat 4 of Paul's pokemon with one hit each and the battle last's only 5-6 minutes
@@infinityalbi9840 in anime canon none of them except Ash were tough. Alain was very powerful and he could indeed match Steven so you are accurate but he also lost to elite four members. Iris took a major leap offscreen.
This was obviously a crazy arc as it was but the fact they included alain only to have him get smacked by leon, rather than a rematch between charizard and greninja was foul
I like the full circle of Ash losing in Kanto with the Pikachu v Charizard match to turn it around and win the World Championship with a Pikachu V Charizard
Mega gardevoir is just....Yaasssss queen....my most favourite mega ever....and yes when ever there was mega gardevoir present my screen looked elegent and majestic
Also fun fact. The Diantha vs Lance episode was originally suppose to come out June 24th. But was changed to 1 week later. June 24th is the same date the lighthouse episode was aired, featuring a huge dragonite. 25 years apart
It's Gourgeist, not Pumpkaboo! Also, I will agree with you that Ash vs Leon was on a whole other level, complete with an action-packed four episodes and plenty of excitement to go around. It really shows how far Ash has come since the XY series, where he literally fainted along with Greninja because of the unfortunate outcome of the finals of the Kalos League. I mean, why could they possibly not have treated our boy Ash, who is the MAIN CHARACTER of this anime series, with a little more respect and generosity? If he had won both the Kalos League and the Alola League, he'd have flown home on that second plane with two League wins and an extra title AND a victory against Kukui to his name. Ash vs Cynthia was another piece of cinema. The way Ash relies heavily on the bond between him and Lucario, and the Aura they share, to get them through Cynthia's last two mons, combined with how Pikachu took down GASTRODON and SPIRITOMB, despite the former being a Ground type, really makes this battle worth it. The only bad thing about this battle is how Dragonite and Gengar each missed their own KOs in this battle, but they really make that up in the next one. ALSO: why did you say Dragonite had a bit of a cold streak when she only lost to Cynthia's Spiritomb due to a combination of Hypnosis and Dream Eater? EDIT: When you see Ash take his hat off, which rarely happens even if he is using 10,000,000 Volt Thunderbolt, you know the battle's about to get to a whole other level. The exact same thing happens when he touches his Key Stone to Mega Evolve Lucario or even recalls his Gengar only to Gigantamax it seconds later.
Top 5 battles of Masters 8 :- 5) Lance vs Diantha (some of fastest pokemon in anime forgot to dodge attacks) 4)Iris vs Cynthia (final battle was peak but I didn't like how they treated other pokemons) 3) Lance vs Leon previous edition final (now that's difference b/w normal and champion level pokemon) 2) Ash vs Cynthia (perfect conclusion but why garchomp didn't have any effective moves vs Lucario) 1) Ash vs Leon (that day when entire world was watching together all social media platforms that feeling can't be surpassed)
Hot take: ash's team in this was, in all honesty, kinda ass. Besides Pikachu and gengar he really didn't have any og pokemon of his which heavily disappointed me. No charizard (which I can understand they didn't want 3 different charizards) but like...why no infernape? No greninja? I feel like he should have has pokemon from across his journey yet we got...this team.
@@sammicallef6291Lucario would've been good if it had enough screen time. Instead they gave it to Chloe and it basically became Walmart Greninja furry
@@gaiusx287 yeah but at least he didn't go down like a rookie the way Alain and Diantha did against Leon, and he did hold a strong lead against Diantha for most of the battle
Call me crazy, but I would’ve loved to have seen Ash face of against Lance since (correct me if I’m wrong) both Ash and Lance have history together since Lance is the champion of Jhoto and a Kanto Elite 4 member and they’ve fought together in the past. It would’ve been fun to see happen.
During Diantha VS Leon, Leon took all 4 diantha's pokemon in offscreen because of the plot. Ash's Rival in the journey series is Leon, so I think it was early to reveal Leon's pokemon until they were matched up with ash.
Alain vs leon is actually a bit overhated imo. It wasnt the best battle but up until the showdown between the charizards (which was ofc disrespectful) it was pretty cool and entertaining. Especially rillaboom vs chesnaught
Cynthia D-maxing kinda makes sence from a POV of Cynthia. Her Garchomp took major damage agianst KAMON/Sirfetch'd, and Lucario begun to counter alot of togekiss strategies. Also Cynthia is known for using unpredictable strategies, and D-maxing is something NOONE expected. Mega Lucario and Mega garchomp would be AMAZING to watch, but honestly... I see a good reason for Cynthia not to do it
Garchomp got to rest between rounds so it's not like she wouldn't gain some stamina back Besides Cynthia dynamaxing just makes her having a mega evolution pointless since why use it against iris to hype up her battle with ash more in the first place
I think she saw Ash was expecting her to Mega Evolve Garchomp and decided to throw a curve ball at him to keep him off guard. I think people would've taken a lot more kindly to that it Dynamax Togekiss had done... anything instead of just getting defeated by Mega Lucario. If it defeated Kamon or Dracovish or even maybe Baton Passed an omni-boost from a move like Ancient Power to Garchomp (like Zac suggested), I think people wouldn't have minded that much.
I hate the gigantamax gimmick among all gimmicks but I gotta admit I was so surprised and a little pumped that Cynthia's wildcard against Ash was g-max togekiss. So surprising to say the least!
After masters eight, my love for diantha went through the roof. The way she defeated lance and the way she was shown in semi finals, she did her best and never backed down. She has vast knowledge about Pokemon battling , moves , abilities and things like that. Her gardevior is the best.
In his battle against Cynthia it would be epic if Ash used Infernape instead of Sircfetd, Ash had Lucario another fighting type but he didn't had a fire type and Infernape is the only Champion level pokemon Ash had in the Sinnoh Region, Infernape Also could have defeated Milotic and Gave serious damage in cynthia's garchomp and get some revenge in his first battle vs cynthia's garchop when he was only a chimchar
@@videos43334dhdjj774h that’s cool but Sirfetch’d is 1. My personal favorite Journeys Pokémon so sidelining it will not get me on your side and 2. My second favorite Ash Pokémon period, and #1 is not Infernape so I am not with you.
Iris vs cynthia is the only good battle in the first round. one reason is because we have known iris and it was emotional when she starting crying. it also let us know how far she's come to the point where she was doing really well vs cynthia until the lipstick was flipped and cynthia took the W
@@muhammadkhizer6415 pretty dumb honestly They had the first two battles to make certain team members jobbers, this time they should have given everyone a KO Sirfetch'd could have beaten Rilaboom, Dracovish could have beaten Cinderace, and the rest of the KOs could be the same
@@muhammadkhizer6415 yeah... For me that's not really enough. If they were going to make someone fodder to Rilaboom it could have been dracovish instead while sirfetch'd could have beaten it Plus at least it would put both of them at a solid win rate of 50 percent
Personal opinion but the victory would've felt much more sweet if either lean used more then one gimmick as well to match ash or ash say no and match Leon with one gimmick but don't get me wrong am still very happy with how it turned out
My takes on all of these fights: Leon vs Alain: Terrible. How alain lost here was unacceptable. He should have been pushing leon way more considering how strong he is for someone who's not a champion Lance vs Diantha: Choreography wise it was meh but both sides had awesome strategies. Better than the first battle by a large margin Cynthia vs Iris: I am no fan of iris but journeys at least made me respect her a bit compared to how nuch of brat she was in unova. Iris definitely showed why she was a champ with how well she did against Cynthia. They were practically even from the start. Cynthia obviously won but i'll give iris an A for effort Ash vs Steven. Aside from the Cradily portions, this battle wasn't great. Especially when it comes to Pikachu vs Mega Metagross. Ash should have figured out a way to slow Metagross down so he could then land some hits BEFORE using the Z Move Leon vs Diantha: TRASH!! Idk if Leon or the writers have a problem with Kalos but him disrespecting Diantha was inexcusable. After Diantha redeemed herself in a lot of fans' eyed against lance, she looks like a newbie against leon. Two knockouts out of six is disgraceful Ash vs Cynthia: Honestly Cynthia should have used mega evolution but aside from that, this battle was INCREDIBLE!! We wanted to see Ash take on Cynthia for so long and this battle really delivered. Lucario and Pikachu carried the fight but Sirfetch'd put in quite a bit of work, especially against Garchomp. It was so satisfying to see Ash get the win here Ash vs Lepn: Peak PERFECTION!! Not only did ash win but the battlw itself had so much crazy sction, clean animation, and hype moments that kept me on rhe edge of my seat. Plus that pikachu vs Charizard finale, was, EPIC!!!
@@thatboyminus wait wait wait... steel resists flying? I didn't know that. I'm not surprised about the fact that Lucario's Steel typing negates the Fighting type's weakness against Fairy-type moves, but I am surprised at what I just found out only seconds ago.
The big problem I had with the Master's 8 were the matchups. I really hoped that Ash would go against Alain in the first round and redeem himself for loosing. That would have been a perfect way to start the tournament and be a meaningful win for Ash, but it didn't happen😑.
I hear you, but unless we already knew Alain was in the Masters 8 before Ash reunited with greninja, or greninja could just somehow show up at Wyndon Stadium unexpectedly, idk how they would be able to give us the rematch we deserved without leaving the fans unsatisfied The only other opponent that made sense for Ash to face in Round 1 would have been Lance since they have a bit of history, and it would be cool to see Ash not only beat the strongest trainer in his home region, but also the runner up in the last WCS season. Plus the promotional images we got for the Masters 8 did seem to hint at them battling, and honestly, I would have been fine with it. It could also give Ash's Dragonite a chance to shine and break her losing streak early and come on, how do U not wanna see Ash's and Lance's Dragonite duke it out? As for Alain, let him battle Diantha instead. Only one Kalos representative would have gone through the first round anyway and look at it this way. Alain and Diantha are right next to each other in the rankings, so it's not like there's a vast difference of power between them. I could potentially see Alain doing extremely well and holding a lead for the majority of the battle, but still losing to the Kalos champ with dignity. It could show that Alain has what it takes to be a potential successor to Diantha and given he wants to be the strongest, that's a route I could see the writers taking him down That only leaves Leon to face Steven in round 1, and here's my reasoning for it. We never got to see any of the top 3 trainers in the masters eight duke it out so here's a good opportunity for that. We could even see some great strats from both sides like Rilaboom having high horsepower as steel coverage and using acrobatics both to attack and dodge, Steven using Cradily's tentacles to his advantage to ensnare and attack opponents, Leon using Dragapult's dragon tail to force switches and catch Steven off guard, Steven using Mega Metagross's unbelievable speed and heightened awareness to his advantage to leave Leon's Charizard struggling to even land a move, Steven turning Gmax Wildfire back on Charizard with psychic, and Leon using Max Airstream at least twice to get fast enough to land hits on Metagross
@eljordinio7647 Wow, now I would actually like to see Leon vs. Steven. The matcheups of Diantha vs. Alain and Ash vs. Lance would have accepted too. I wanted Ash for the Masters 8 to use his old Pokemon and his new team for the final against Leon. I wouldn't accept Ash vs. Alain without Greninja. Ash vs. Cynthia was pretty good, but why give us that image in D&P of Infernape vs. Garchomp if they weren't going to give it to us!😫
I still think we got robbed of a pretty epic Steven vs Alain match but that's just me. I'd have been okey with them having Diantha bite the dust against Leon here and Ash battling his home region's champion Lance. Than they could basically keep everything the same with the exception of Steven or Alain replacing Diantha in the semi finale.
The battle we were actually robbed of was the rematch between ash and Alain that honestly should have been the first match of the masters 8 but that’s just my opinion
@@mattsultimategamingandrevi8249 personally I feel that is understandable since we got that pretty recentely in X and Y. Ash vs Iris would be cool, but maybe they could have given Ash and Alain a battle before the masters eight (if they weren't planning on having Ash battle him there)
Tbh Diantha vs Alain would have been better. They're right next to each other in the rankings and Alain might actually prove to be a worthy successor to Diantha
This guy is being too generous with the rankings. Here's my ranking: Alain vs Leon, Diantha vs Leon, and Steven vs Ash are all F TIER! Just terrible! I want those battles to be reanimated again.
I'd have liked to see another reason WHY Diantha lost to Leon, other than the fact that both Ash and Leon are working hard so that they can face each other in the finals.
The way that battle went, I feel like Ash should not have beaten Leon. also Leon vs Allon should have been mega vs dinamax, like in the Kallos League where it was mega versus mega.
I would've loved for the anime to have Alain bring back his Bisharp and introduce it as a gen 9 tease Kingambit. They couldve introduced its ability and its move Kowtow Cleave so that Alain couldve at least not gotten swept.
@@christabelowusu-sekyere348 nope iris still wouldve lost. Cynthia only mega evolved to match iris's determination. The entire battle showed that while iris has gotten stronger she still has a long way to go before being on Cynthias level.
@@indifference1015yeah, like I'll give journeys props for making iris an actual force to be reckoned with against Cynthia, but she definitely wasn't beating sinnoh's queen here
Not really, they just bullied Allan to make Leon look more powerful, and Leon ended up losing to ash who Allan beat before. They literally are just glazing Leon for no reason, regardless of your opinion on Allan, they did him dirty. Watch XYZ then come back to that battle with Leon, and tell me otherwise
Lance vs Diantha sucked. They nerfed Lance's skills as a trainer and made him make awful plays left and right just so Diantha could win. What plays am I talking about? Let's see, he: - Hyper Beamed an Ice-/Rock-type(Rock-types resist normal-type moves) pokemon after its trainer called for a Light Screen, and that left his Dragonite open for super effective, S.T.A.B. damage, one being by 4x, and this is when having a 4x Body Press move. - Used Gyarados against Gourgeist despite having a Hydreigon, who resisted both of Gourgeist's S.T.A.B. types, and had Dark Pulse for Super effective, S.T.A.B. damage, which was also a special attack which Lance literally says he knew Light Screen was about to fade. - When Gyarados was on the field he told it to Aqua Tail a Reflect protected Grass-type Pokemon when he had Ice Fang and it fought nothing like it did when facing Leon in the last PWC. Like, where were the Aqua Tail and Ice Fang Flurry attacks at? They literally made Gyarados just a brute force attacker in that fight. Also, where was Dragon Dance at? If Lance got rid of it, then that's yet another nerf as he had no reason to get rid of it, especially when it helped him with his Flurry Attacks. - Saved his Hydreigon and his injured Dragonitrt for Diantha's Fairy-type mega ace... Like why? I get maybe Dragonite because it was such a tank, but Hydreigon? Man knew she'd use Gardevoir, yet instead of using it against Gourgeist earlier on, he wasted his Gyarados on it and saved his mon that's 4x weak to Fairy-types ... For her Fairy-type ace... That mega evolves... And I get people may say "She had Thunderbolt" okay 1. Nothing showed Lance knew that, thus it still would of been a smarter play to save Gyarados for Gardevoir when he knows the opponent has a Fairy-type move for his dragons, especially his one 4x weak to it. 2. Lance could of countered Thunderbolt with a move. Not only does he go by the "offense is the best defense" strat, but he literally did that when facing Leon's Charizard using Thunder Punch. Also, I don't want to hear anyone say that "maybe the writers forgot about his Flurry attacks" because there's no way they did. It was shown in one of the biggest fights ever in the series and literally two episodes before their fight, Paul somewhat mimicked the strategy with his Gyarados when training Ash. - Hyper Beam was nerfed. Remember when Lance faced Leon and Leon's Charizard dodged Hyper Beam? Did Hyper Beam just wear off? No. Gyarados followed it around the stadium for a bit, but nope, not here, they made it to where it could only be shot out and if someone dodged it, that's it. I get Dragonite isn't Gyarados, but that doesn't mean Dragonite can't follow its target, or at the very least, look upwards at Gardevoir as she literally just jumped in the air... Seriously, the most intelligent thing he did in this fight was his Dynamax stall strategy where he used Dragonite's bulk, Dynamax stamina boost, Hail damage anf attacks to do damage and block movess, that's it. They seriously could of made this an amazing fight where both trainers gave it their all and then I'd of been satisfied regardless of the outcome, but they had to almost completely nerf a character and give their opponent an advantage over them so the opponent one could move on. That's seriously disrespectful towards Lance, so it confuses me why people want to talk about Diantha getting disrespected in her fight with Leon, yey fail to mention how Lance was disrespected in his fight with her.
@@robertgonsalez-re5wu Nah, If Lance played his cards right, I guarantee he could of came out on top. That Gyarados is a speedy powerhouse and his Dragonite is a tank. Some even think had Lance's Dragonite been at full health in the final fight, it would of beaten her Gardevoir despite her major advantage on him. Not saying Diantha couldn't of won the fight, but they 100% nerfed Lance.
I had just watched the final episode and I realized that pikachu tapped into a brand new ability no Pokémon can tap into alone it’s like the bond between your Pokémon must so strong death can’t break it and I wanna kinda call Limitless Bond is what it’s called and only when your bond is so strong with a Pokémon then it can be called forth and its from our knowledge still incredibly hard to tap into
I would most definitely not be surprised if that was an actual Ability in the games, my friend. Limitless Bond could automatically activate itself when your Pokemon reaches low HP in a battle and make it become nearly impossible to defeat, and when I say low HP, I mean IN THE RED low HP.
It is said all leon pokemon are ace level, só rillaboom is not his 2° strongest, ALL of his pokemon are and charizard towers above. Alain would lose against all of them except maybe iris, he is not beating no one considering that even with a good type matchup against steven he was losing, so yeah alain was there just to get beat or might beat iris
The Ash vs leon battle was kinda ruined for me when Eternatus came and gave them a second chance to dynamax. Ash would not have won if Eternatus came😅 pikachu could only use iron tail and quick attack since cinderace Can become a ground type. The most stupid thing was that cinderace was taken down in just one hit only because pikachu was dynamaxed and somehow pikachu protected himself from a fireball. Also, if cinderace used the ground move he wouldn’t have been damaged at all. Cinderace wasnt damaged at all before he was hit by the gmax electric attack and he could easily avoid it by using the ground type move.

Yeah, but then Tobias would've technically cheated and used Darkrai and Latios and maybe even Cresselia and Latias to kick everyone's butts out except for Ash. That spirited kid would've stayed and trained and kept his mons battling that stupid man who has only been seen using legendaries until at last Ash's team came out superior. Goodness knows that Pikachu has been through enough emotional times with its partner that it is on the exact same level as freaking Lugia, and when you see it battle, you know you're going to see something else, friend. Lance, on the other hand, is another case. When you see him challenge someone strong who's passionate about battling (like Ash), you just know you're about to see something else. But... why HYDREIGON, of all mons? I would've liked to see him use an Altaria or maybe even a Salamance, and maybe he could've Mega Evolved it like Sawyer with Sceptile and Diantha with Gardevoir.
@allareworthgoldhazelmills no, they could have given him max 3 legendaries and tell his life story and slightly nerfed him. I really wanted to see the rematch.
Let’s just say agree to disagree on some of these placings Lance vs Diantha is a C tier for me personally. It ain’t terrible, but it’s just kinda inoffensive. Same with Ash vs Steven. Iris vs Cynthia was good, aside from some pet peeves like the Garchompite just floating in front of Lucario as it Mega Evolves(a thing with Ash’s Lucario too) Ash vs Cynthia is solid, until Lucario is sent out. Not a fan of the whole thing with Dynamaxing Togekiss, even with Greninja squeezing in another cameo(As an aside, Ash and Lucario’s “Aura Bond” as I’ve heard it be called in some corners of the fandom. Totally not an Ash-Greninja ripoff, Amirite?! /hj). And Bullet Punch vs Dragon Claw was a weaker instance of animation. To compare it with Iris vs Cynthia, I prefer the constant blow exchanges over Garchomp just freezing as Lucario uses Bullet Punch(that sequence would be fine, if it was a Bit faster, to make it look like Garchomp isn’t just taking the hits) And Ash vs Leon. While it was solid, it had a pretty slow start. Lucario’s clash with Mr Rime is also an issue I have with the aforementioned speed thing(with everything slowing everything down so the announcer could talk), the second G Max from Eternatus was kinda wasted IMO, and Dracovish. No offense if you like Dracovish after you earned its respect, but those claws it got. Barely explained, barely foreshadowed(but that’s down to JN not giving Ash and his team a lot of development time compared to Goh), and a big case of “too little, too late” with its character development(May be biased on this one, since Ash’s Dracovish as a whole is just one of my least favorite members of his team(It’s personality is largely one joke, and it barely develops. I thought Goh was the one who caught Grookey, not Ash. HEYOOOOO), so you can take this with a pinch of salt). Part 4, and the final battle with Pikachu and Charizard though? Pure Gold. Cannot possibly improve it Apologies for the Long comment BTW, I get descriptive with my thoughts
Rillabbom lost in all of Leon's battles in the masters eight and it even lost against Leon's one sided battle against Alain the only masters eight tornament member that he isn't a champion he only won a pokemon league but not diantha. Rillabbom may have been defeat 7 pokemon in the tornament but it always lost in the end, unlike Charizard that never lost a single battle in his entire life until Ash's Pikachu defeat it
Ash should have brought lucario instead of dracovish although I’d say pikachu and lucario ash the only good Pokémon he had on his team Dragonite: I thought was gonna be stronger due to it beating 2 Pokémon after gengar went down Gengar: may have took down 2 of raihans Pokémon but other than that it lost quite a bit Sirfetchd: I wouldn’t call him too bad but he lost to bea without taking out a single Pokémon but I think he would have been a better choice to use against Steven instead of gengar Dracovish: I think he did okay but lost when his weaknesses were exposed and it wasn’t a good matchup against steel type’s since water is effective and dragon is not very effective
To me Sirfech'd technically got a win on Rillaboom, if you think about it closely Edit: (reason why am not saying Dragonight is because she got Molly whopped in that battle and only got the Dragonight meteor on him)

Actually would be more belivable if he used his first team and never switched, as then he would have enough time training with then to reavh champion level, his other aces also need training to reach champion level and his journeys team today's level
I would bring the Lance vs Diantha battle down to C tier. It had all the good points you mentioned, but the characters for the most part forgot how to dodge and use the battlefield, especially Lance.

Ngl... glad others enjoy this tournament, but now that recency bias has faded, the only battle I really enjoy is Ash vs Leon. Every other one is either bad or set expectations way too high not to be underwhelming. Diantha vs Lance was painfully slow paced (granted, it's understandable given how overworked the animators were, but still) and Lance feels horribly dumbed down. I get that power has always been his main thing, but come on, the man was capable of making actual plays earlier in this very series. Diantha's strategies were just basic status moves, it feels like the only reason they worked was because her opponent was battling like an idiot. Iris vs Cynthia is... serviceable, but I'll never understand the hype behind it. At least on Iris's end, it's just her losing again to the woman she already lost to. And I say that as someone who wanted Cynthia to win. She doesn't even get to show off a new Pokemon or anything we hadn't seen in her last appearance. Ash vs Cynthia is okay for what it is, but it'll always be so tainted by the fact that Ash didn't use Infernape to beat her. They've been hinting at that practically since her very first appearance, and the lack of reserves will be the biggest black mark on all of his battles.
I think Ash vs Leon is not as epic as Ash vs Paul in the Sinnoh league but it was surely more epic if that match of Ash vs Paul would have been the finals of the Sinnoh league instead of guarter finals
They should have paired the matchups differently imo. Here’s what I woulda done Lance vs Iris Ash vs Alain Leon vs Diantha Steven vs Cynthia THEN Iris vs Ash Leon vs Cynthia THEN Ash vs Leon
Iris vs Ash would be a waste of time since Ash already proved he is superior to her, even with a lower ranking Just make the matchups Leon vs Steven Alain vs Diantha Cynthia vs Iris Ash vs Lance Then everything else is the same, and you're set
In my asters 8 predictions I had with my friend, we had Leon vs. Cynthia (it would hype Leon up to see him win), Lance vs. Iris (linking into her Dragon Msster goal, Ash vs. Alain and Steven vs. Diantha
@@thefatcontrollershat cynthia vs ash was meant to be for years and was literally hyped by the series So thats not valid cynthia vs lance is better Iris vs leon
In my opinion the roster should’ve been: 1. Leon vs Diantha 2. Steven vs Alain 3. Iris vs Cynthia 4. Ash vs Lance Diantha really don’t have any real connection with any other champion so her losing to Leon in first round isn’t that bad. But in this Diantha takes out 2 of Leon’s mon. Then I think Steven vs Alain should happen to get a decisive winner. I think Alain winning here would demonstrate his growth from XY specials till now and establish that even though he is not a champion he is not less than them. Cynthia vs Iris is fine because of their history and Cynthia would move on Ash vs Lance should’ve happened. Not only Ash would beat the runner up of previous M8 tournament but his home region champion. Lance is the very first champion Ash ever met and have known him for the longest period of time. Plus I can see that after the match Lance would’ve hold Ash’s hand and declare in front of the crowd to behold the true strongest trainer of Kanto. Then in semi finals Leon vs Alain and it would be a close match but Gmax wildfire would overpower blast burn. Then Ash vs Cynthia and Leon can happen the way it did in canon. This would be my version of master 8
@@GameZone-ib7eu There should have been a way to get Iris in the top 4; let her show the audience her team isn't just Excadrill, Dragonite, and Haxorus. She got a Gible in post-BW. She might have a Goodra.

It would’ve been cool if Iris went up against Lance, dragon, to dragon diantha versus Cynthia sister to sister and we did get mega Charizard x versus gigantimax charizard and then we got Steven versus Ash mega lucario versus mega metagross steel steel. Then lance battled ash come on they never met and I wanna see ashes draganite take out lances final draganite And the Leon vs diantha except this time we got full battles and the rillaboom vs auras battle rillaboom died to an ice beam. Mainly the full battles And there’s nothing changing about ash vs Leon it 😍
The only thing messed up is that you predicted diantha to win against cynthia lmao Diantha herself stated that cynthia is the only one who has a chance against leon

It would have been amazing foreshadowing to have added Geeta instead of Alain. It would have shown how trash she was compared to other champions. Before we saw it in Scarlet and Violet.
Honesly. Not a fan of Iris vs Cynthia. For me it's me. And lets be honest. It was cool seing Mega Garchomp but even without it, it still would have won. So she didnt need to use Mega.
The literal point was she wasn't so sure, that's what the mega evolution was meant to indicate. If she didn't believe this there is no way she would have used it, since keeping it a secret would have given her an advantage in the semi finals. That's also the reason she didn't use it in the semi finals, because it would have been predictable and thus allowed Ash to prepare for it, instead catching him offguard with togekiss.
Well. I still dont thing Iris would have won. Another problem the fact that her Dragonite got KOed way to easily. It was so good in B&W anime but when u see it in here. I Just dont see it strong anymore. For me Iris V Cynthia is my 3rd least favorite battle. Just in front of Leon V Alain and Leon V Diantha. But behind Ash V Steven.

Yes, even Excadrill if she can keep him at a distance and dodge with those lightning fast reflexes Even if she won against Alain, he still managed to be ranked above her so he won't be that easy to beat if it's the two of them battling And If we're going off what happened to Diantha and Alain, Leon would completely wreck iris

@@infinityalbi9840 in anime canon none of them except Ash were tough. Alain was very powerful and he could indeed match Steven so you are accurate but he also lost to elite four members. Iris took a major leap offscreen.

We all agree with this take
That would have been dope ngl. Lance is the only one I can see iris beating. Besides Alain
Let's be honest, she's not beating the other five
Top 5 battles of Masters 8 :-
5) Lance vs Diantha (some of fastest pokemon in anime forgot to dodge attacks)
4)Iris vs Cynthia (final battle was peak but I didn't like how they treated other pokemons)
3) Lance vs Leon previous edition final (now that's difference b/w normal and champion level pokemon)
2) Ash vs Cynthia (perfect conclusion but why garchomp didn't have any effective moves vs Lucario)
1) Ash vs Leon (that day when entire world was watching together all social media platforms that feeling can't be surpassed)
Hot take: ash's team in this was, in all honesty, kinda ass. Besides Pikachu and gengar he really didn't have any og pokemon of his which heavily disappointed me. Yea or maybe even ash vs Alain rematch
I think that would of been a better choice then Steven, but I think Cynthia and Alain should of been the ones to face ash
I see a good reason for Cynthia not to do it
Well.. If the writers had given everyone a DMax band, it wouldn't have been as "unpredictable".
Garchomp got to rest between rounds so it's not like she wouldn't gain some stamina back
Besides Cynthia dynamaxing just makes her having a mega evolution pointless since why use it against iris to hype up her battle with ash more in the first place
Not a good enough excuse we’ve seen Pokémon still use there gimmick even after getting damaged
@@carterryans yeah, like when Pikachu damaged Alain's Charizard heavily to the point it was on its knees before mega evolving

Personal opinion but the victory would've felt much more sweet if either lean used more then one gimmick as well to match ash or ash say no and match Leon with one gimmick but don't get me wrong am still very happy with how it turned out
My takes on all of these fights:
Leon vs Alain: Terrible. How alain lost here was unacceptable. He should have been pushing leon way more considering how strong he is for someone who's not a champion
Lance vs Diantha: Choreography wise it was meh but both sides had awesome strategies. Better than the first battle by a large margin
Cynthia vs Iris: I am no fan of iris but journeys at least made me respect her a bit compared to how nuch of brat she was in unova. Iris definitely showed why she was a champ with how well she did against Cynthia. They were practically even from the start. Cynthia obviously won but i'll give iris an A for effort
Ash vs Steven. Aside from the Cradily portions, this battle wasn't great. Especially when it comes to Pikachu vs Mega Metagross. Ash should have figured out a way to slow Metagross down so he could then land some hits BEFORE using the Z Move
Leon vs Diantha: TRASH!! Idk if Leon or the writers have a problem with Kalos but him disrespecting Diantha was inexcusable. After Diantha redeemed herself in a lot of fans' eyed against lance, she looks like a newbie against leon. Two knockouts out of six is disgraceful
Ash vs Cynthia: Honestly Cynthia should have used mega evolution but aside from that, this battle was INCREDIBLE!! We wanted to see Ash take on Cynthia for so long and this battle really delivered. Lucario and Pikachu carried the fight but Sirfetch'd put in quite a bit of work, especially against Garchomp. It was so satisfying to see Ash get the win here
Ash vs Lepn: Peak PERFECTION!!

I hear you, but unless we already knew Alain was in the Masters 8 before Ash reunited with greninja, or greninja could just somehow show up at Wyndon Stadium unexpectedly, idk how they would be able to give us the rematch we deserved without leaving the fans unsatisfied
The only other opponent that made sense for Ash to face in Round 1 would have been Lance since they have a bit of history, and it would be cool to see Ash not only beat the strongest trainer in his home region, but also the runner up in the last WCS season.
It could show that Alain has what it takes to be a potential successor to Diantha and given he wants to be the strongest, that's a route I could see the writers taking him down
That only leaves Leon to face Steven in round 1, and here's my reasoning for it.
Ash vs Iris would be cool, but maybe they could have given Ash and Alain a battle before the masters eight (if they weren't planning on having Ash battle him there)
@@mlgmeistros4278 yeah true

This guy is being too generous with the rankings.
Here's my ranking:
Alain vs Leon, Diantha vs Leon, and Steven vs Ash are all F TIER!
Who do you think would win, Steven’s Aggron or Leon’s Rillaboom?
Rilaboom has high horsepower, and without sturdy, no way Aggron is living a single hit from that

@@dr.jonathanmcmillan9857 shut your mouth, there's nothing great about brutally disrespecting one of the strongest trainers in the world like that
Lance vs Diantha sucked. They nerfed Lance's skills as a trainer and made him make awful plays left and right just so Diantha could win.
What plays am I talking about?
Let's see, he:
- Hyper Beamed an Ice-/Rock-type(Rock-types resist normal-type moves) pokemon after its trainer called for a Light Screen, and that left his Dragonite open for super effective, S.T.A.B. damage, one being by 4x, and this is when having a 4x Body Press move.
And I get people may say "She had Thunderbolt" okay
Diantha wins no matter what
@@robertgonsalez-re5wu Nah, If Lance played his cards right, I guarantee he could of came out on top.

Lol king kong was on rampage through out the tournament
I had just watched the final episode and I realized that pikachu tapped into a brand new ability no Pokémon can tap into alone it’s like the bond between your Pokémon must so strong death can’t break it and I wanna kinda call Limitless Bond is what it’s called and only when your bond is so strong with a Pokémon then it can be called forth and its from our knowledge still incredibly hard to tap into
They should've just confirmed Ash won using Pika Papow.
@@infinityalbi9840 I wouldn't be surprised if that WAS Pika Papow

I would most definitely not be surprised if that was an actual Ability in the games, my friend. Limitless Bond could automatically activate itself when your Pokemon reaches low HP in a battle and make it become nearly impossible to defeat, and when I say low HP, I mean IN THE RED low HP.
I instantly skipped the raidshadowlegends thing

Ghost types moves were so underwhelming in the anime until trick or treat and destiny bond.

I wonder how Alain would do agianst the other M8 trainers. Cmon he was agianst Leon's 2 most powerfull pokemon. Charizard and Rilaboom.
I'd say Steven, iris or Lance he could definitely beat
The Ash vs leon battle was kinda ruined for me when Eternatus came and gave them a second chance to dynamax. Ash would not have won if Eternatus came😅 pikachu could only use iron tail and quick attack since cinderace Can become a ground type. The most stupid thing was that cinderace was taken down in just one hit only because pikachu was dynamaxed and somehow pikachu protected himself from a fireball. Also, if cinderace used the ground move he wouldn’t have been damaged at all. Cinderace wasnt damaged at all before he was hit by the gmax electric attack and he could easily avoid it by using the ground type move.
cinderace and gastrodon were victimes of pikachu's plot armor

They should’ve rethink how the battle would play out or something… the tournament battles in Journeys was just abysmal to watch (with some exceptions)

Bro put ash vs Steven at b 😂😂😂😂
i didnt rlly like lance vs diantha, lance had hydreigon, but he decided to use gyarados against gourgeist.
They could have kept Tobias instead of Lance.
Bro was not roasting the girls like this💀
Ash vs leon is the GREATEST pokemon battle of all time easily!!!
Let’s just say agree to disagree on some of these placings
Lance vs Diantha is a C tier for me personally. It ain’t terrible, but it’s just kinda inoffensive. Same with Ash vs Steven. Iris vs Cynthia was good, aside from some pet peeves like the Garchompite just floating in front of Lucario as it Mega Evolves(a thing with Ash’s Lucario too)
Ash vs Cynthia is solid, until Lucario is sent out. To compare it with Iris vs Cynthia, I prefer the constant blow exchanges over Garchomp just freezing as Lucario uses Bullet Punch(that sequence would be fine, if it was a Bit faster, to make it look like Garchomp isn’t just taking the hits)
And Ash vs Leon. Pure Gold. Cannot possibly improve it
Apologies for the Long comment BTW, I get descriptive with my thoughts
Rilaboom the undefeated☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️
they gave him more power than his own ace.
Rillabbom lost in all of Leon's battles in the masters eight and it even lost against Leon's one sided battle against Alain the only masters eight tornament member that he isn't a champion he only won a pokemon league but not diantha. Rillabbom may have been defeat 7 pokemon in the tornament but it always lost in the end, unlike Charizard that never lost a single battle in his entire life until Ash's Pikachu defeat it
@@videos43334dhdjj774h Sonia beat it when it was only a Charmander
Ash should have brought lucario instead of dracovish although I’d say pikachu and lucario ash the only good Pokémon he had on his team
Dragonite: I thought was gonna be stronger due to it beating 2 Pokémon after gengar went down
Gengar: may have took down 2 of raihans Pokémon but other than that it lost quite a bit
Sirfetchd: I wouldn’t call him too bad but he lost to bea without taking out a single Pokémon but I think he would have been a better choice to use against Steven instead of gengar
Dracovish: I think he did okay but lost when his weaknesses were exposed and it wasn’t a good matchup against steel type’s since water is effective and dragon is not very effective

Ash wasn't a match against any of 3 tbh he got carried by plot
cynthia was toying with him on most of the match and her garchomp was nerfed
metagross was abusing pikachu
And somehow he needed 4 gimmicks against leon
There is nO way a pokemon he caught on less than a year reach the level of a champion
Him using his aces would have been believable at least from how long they are training
Exactly everyone got nerfed to make Leon and ash look good
Actually would be more belivable if he used his first team and never switched, as then he would have enough time training with then to reavh champion level, his other aces also need training to reach champion level and his journeys team today's level
If cynthia was nerfed, she wouldn't have dominated Ash from the beginning
And what, u expect garchomp to just change her moves overnight?
U didn't answer the question
I would bring the Lance vs Diantha battle down to C tier. It had all the good points you mentioned, but the characters for the most part forgot how to dodge and use the battlefield, especially Lance.
You also forgot Pokemon mostly dodge only if they're told to

W or L?
Ngl... glad others enjoy this tournament, but now that recency bias has faded, the only battle I really enjoy is Ash vs Leon.
Ash vs Leon was one of the worst.

In my opinion the roster should’ve been:
1. Leon vs Diantha
2. Steven vs Alain
3. Iris vs Cynthia
4. Ash vs Lance
Diantha really don’t have any real connection with any other champion so her losing to Leon in first round isn’t that bad. But in this Diantha takes out 2 of Leon’s mon.
Then I think Steven vs Alain should happen to get a decisive winner. I think Alain winning here would demonstrate his growth from XY specials till now and establish that even though he is not a champion he is not less than them.
Cynthia vs Iris is fine because of their history and Cynthia would move on
Ash vs Lance should’ve happened.
