After years of seeing buch of memes about flying cars humanity actually did it
its a joke. Its literally a plane with 4 wheels. They could've built this in the 1st world war there was just no need for it and certainly no need for it now since it takes off and lands just like an airplane. A "PROPER" flying car needs to break all the rules. It should be readily accessible by the general population within their home environment and travel should not exceed certain speeds. Parking should be put into consideration... There's just a whole lot of things this "flying car" has missing that I would just call it a fucking airplane. pardon my french

It's definitely not the best flying car, but atleast it has the capability of driving in normal traffic and also flying which is worth appreciating. No wonder how much effort they must have given in making this. This is how innovation proceeds, this has atleast one capability of a flying car, the next one might have two, and the next one might have four. There have been many such prototypes and they never make it into production because they have shitty flight characteristics.
@@AdrianGonzalez-cc6xf The 1949 Taylor Aerocar is probably my favorite and the best comparison as it had fold-away wings for driving on the road.
Convair had detachable wings on the 116 and 118 which, in all reality, is probably more practical to store at an airport, drive around, head back to the airport and fly back. It makes more sense than driving around with wings folded back hanging a few feet behind the car/fuselage (carselage?).

I am an avid aeromodellor.... for many years I have been working on an idea for a flying car... with folding wings... built 2 or 3 - that never quite worked right - and crashed.... I am still trying! But yeah - this is...already there! They have done it... A true flying car - unlike a lot of the drone style designs....Just love it... I see they are already working on another thing Ive wondered about for years - the amphibious version of same! Love it! Ill continue tootling away in my little workshop.... Im just delighted (jealous!) someone is already doing this for real.... Bravo!

After watching the "Jetsons" cartoon, as a kid, I thought this would have come around a lot sooner, However, I must say it made me happy to see one made before I exit this world ! Awesome looking !

Would absolutely need the capability to lift vertically to make it an everyone-product. And autonomous operation would be good, I think a flying license is not as easy as a driver's license.
And I AM a SciFi-Fan. But his looks impractical to me. I see the point about robot taxis and massive carsharing this way, the transition from owning a car to heaving a mobility flatrate.
For most of the video I was thinking "If he can drive it back I'll accept that it's a car!"... turns out I don't mind being put in my place.
it is still pretty impractical. A lot of extra weight and heavy maintenance cost.

And in my opinion, the future of transportation is carsharing. Not owning cars anymore. AI driving (or flying) them will eliminate the insurance problem for car sharing on a big scale...
But I still think transformers like this will be impractical. Anti gravity would be my choice. So you could go outerspace, too.

hello Yak.🙂 and this one *is* fantastic - but there have been and ARE many others before this amalgamation of a car and a small airplane. other models that don't fly nearly as high in the air. but some, like this one are a form of a hybrid, too. there are many videos here on UA-cam and a large number of websites re: the other kinds, like the Moller Sky Car from the early 1990's years.
