Imagine, fully electric car, incorporate some sort of solar panels to the design that will be charging car while on road or stationary, never need to pay for electric to charge it etc. And that would be something to look forward to.
Solar energy alone won't be enough to keep a flying car powered up it will draw an immense amount of power

I saw this flying car image in the video thumbnail years ago. The only different here is " tesla" logo . Isn' it.
Elon already stated HE IS NOT GOING TO TOUCH FLYING ELECTRIC VEHICLES. He's leaving that for other people he's got way too much on his plate at the moment and battery technology is not there yet.

It’s not a real thing, he introduced the concept because of the potential thrust numbers indicated that might be able to cover for a few seconds
The thumbnail shows a terrafugia tf-x which was built around 2012 and actually an incredible vehicle. Sadly the company went under in 2020. Would be nice to see something like this being able to be revamped by Tesla whether it is an electronic or gas version and additionally whatever they are able to make the Roadster do when it's supposedly debuts in 2023.

Elon has said many many times that flying cars is a stupid idea, he has stated that if you want a flying car to just put wheels on a helicopter
Shoving it forwards with jets has merit. However, friction wheels add minimal friction so there is nothing to gain by lifting a car off the road.
What it does need is active suspension to better control the wheels and body roll.

I reckon keeping humans on the ground would be better unless for emergency services. Then again AI at a certain point probably will be able to create some kind of invisible highway and prevent collisions.
It will only be allowed for the public with AI autopilot and full automation in all transit. But even before then, I think driving normal cars will be outlawed or made to be prohibitively expensive.
Shitz the way this government is going they will force everyone to own/use electric if they want to travel anywhere any how. Making all other forms of travel across open space impossible.
You will have to get a special permit to use gasoline. And all classics will be forced to convert to be driven.
I mean, if they shut down the world for the flue, then they must outlaw driving your own car because nearly the same number of people die every year as from the new flue.
AI will create some kind of collisions by creating some kind of invisible highway, that's for sure!🤗
And if you use kinetic energy from the movement of the tires and axle, you could charge all electric vehicle's and feed into the power grid at the same time.

So these vehicles will not be allowed to fly if they’re proven to be unsafe, of this I am sure, as nothing is gained by allowing someone to operate or commercialize a vehicle that has an unsafe record a performance & yes there will be incidence I’m sure that will happen, but that’s the way things develop as nothing is 100% without risk! @@theodorehaskins3756 Dude Kobe died even the fact of getting warnings from his pilot saying that the weather wasn't good for flying, but he still went on the plane. It was mostly kobes fault for not realizing it. And its not rude or anything, I'm just basing an analogy that we all know and can happen. I do have respect for people who have passed on, in fact my great grandpa served in WW2, and he died at age 86 later, and I still morn for him. And I had a grandpa that served in Vietnam war, and he died at an old age also. But also that I lost 6 brothers and sisters when they were born due for health issues. So I do have respect for those who have passed on, because they're in a better place. But accidents are sometimes preventable

Great idea, and if anyone can figure it out, Musk is the one, but I'm nervous enough about stability at 150mph with tires on the ground.... Can't imagine how it might be at 200+ mph floating on a cushion of air... Steering sounds like a huge obstacle to say the least....
Right? They said 250 mph. When they Kawasaki 500 came out years ago I flew one. It was so fast that air went up one of my nostrils and out the other sucking everything out, including my brain. Air traffic control would be the biggest concern
People wouldn't be flying it. All they have to do is set the destination and take a recline the seat and take a nap.
Flying in automatic mode aside, developing interactive and coordinative collision evading software to interface with all other aircraft and other flying cars is next to impossible.
Such applications simply do not exist in the world of flight. Even if it could be developed it would reach a limit to which we might expect absolute 100% safety.
Eventually all cars won't be able to go over the actual speed limit, enjoy it while you can, where I live there's no speed limit.
I'm positively lookn'forward to this invention...
Musk would do best to approach this backwards. Using a shuttle to fly ground running cars from point to point first before autonomous flight cars. Houston to LA before your house to Grandmas.

How would it hold a course flying over the highway..a more practical way would be to drive the car onto a platform that makes a secure connection physically and then the platform, controlled by the car or driver then takes flight to the destination. .never mind its probably on a drawing board somewhere & the Chinese are already producing them..

That's not crazy, the idea "flying car" of Tesla. In the past, different car-makers (Brands) builded also an example of a "flying car". With the special technic that's real able to fly.
The question isn't whether it's able to fly. The question is how long it stays in the air before it comes crashing down in the middle of a highway. Cars are dangerous enough on the road. putting those same drivers in the air would be crazy.

I think from the picture from the beginning, Elon has already made an aero car. He isn't releasing it at the moment. He may want to have a different functional versions of the car. I think, engineering wise, it should be a good design. If it is battery run, it should be quite useful.
Yeah I heard about his aero car, too. It's made entirely out of chocolate, & when it flies too close to the sun it starts to melt & then all the little bubbles collapse inside & it loses all its buoyancy.
