It's a song about a couple ending a pregnancy, and they can't deal with the emotions afterwards, and the girl that he loved now feels like a brick tied to his neck when he's drowning. Just being around her now is more than he can handle.
@@danrudnick5252 I'm not sure if she feels like a brick or he feels like she is a brick. One may take the stance that she is without remorse and he feels her dragging him down. There is little about her side in the story, and selling gifts for the baby to buy flowers for her.🤗 Thank you for your reply, I love engaging with people.🤗🇨🇦

This is a rabbit hole you NEED to dive into. Ben's body of work is impressive to say the least. His group work & solo work is magical! His piano playing is great, but he also writes lyrics with that sarcastic-yet-poignant way like Donald Fagan of Steely Dan. One song will make you laugh, and the next have you weeping. Pure talent. I'm also biased because on his solo album Way To Normal he wrote a song about my town (he got the name slightly wrong, called it Effington instead of Effingham).
Truly a heart breaking song once you realize what it's about and the gravity of what he and his girlfriend went through. As a father myself, it's incredibly tough for me to get through this song with dry eyes. My son was an "oops" smack dab in the middle of a very complicated situation but I thank God every day we chose to figure it out. We didn't work and that was crushing. But we both have our son and I wouldn't go back and change a thing
For the moment we're alone. And she's alone. And I'm alone. And now I know it. They're alone in the car. But they're not alone together. They're each alone themselves.
If you want the most hit worthy song from Ben Folds. It's "Landed". Which is the most unfamous (that's right, not infamous, but un-famous) song ever written despite being the most like Elton John and being picked up by American Express.
Lol, they talked through the lyrics that would have made the song make sense. Also shows how reactors usably have to jump to conclusions about songs early and then it distorts them hearing any other meaning. Never mind.
It kills me that none of you reactors actually listen to the lyrics. I understood what this song was about when it first came out and i was a teen. As adults you're oblivious 😂
The saddest song I know…. Don’t know why I watched a rando reaction video aside to be reminded of how the rest of the world goes on and not know what your going through.
Good gosh. I was hoping for a heartfelt reaction. You two did this song zero justice. How incredibly disappointing. Please please delve deeper. You missed it completely.
Ben wrote this song about his girlfriend who had an abortion. This is the guys perspective of going through this traumatic experience.
Kind of hard to watch their reaction knowing that,eh?🤗🇨🇦

saw him at sydney opera house...like a mad processor playing piano..amazing to see being into playing piano myself.
This is about a situation tearing them apart. (Ending a Pregn.) Being the situation. 😢

Ben wrote and writes some beautiful songs. He's an adopted Australian as he married an Aussie and lived downunder for many years.
One of the all-time great bummer jams.

Gives me chills and makes me cry.

This whole album is great!
It gets to THAT PART and it's really fucking hard not to get dewy eyed.
talk about missing the point lol glad you checked it out though
I think that Ben Folds is like a post-modern Billy Joel
The one collaboration we’ve not yet gotten is Ben Folds and Steven Wilson.
"hopefully it will end well" is pretty lol
The child is the brick. Look up unit 731 logs

Are these two really that dense? I had never seen someone bop their head to a song about an abortion. WTF

Every single reactor for this song is just vibing, it's bizarre. It's an unbelievably sad song, absolutely crushing lyrics.

Also, if a brick drowns you, you must weigh less than a pound
If u ever wanna hear a heavy cover of bohemian rhapsody check out the band chuggaboom
Off topic here but did you already see the new Electric Callboy video covering Cascada? 🤩
You two are not so bright
Not at all
I love this, actual morons
Methinks junkies as well (meth not herion, we call met heads junkies in aus)
Shes not a brick its a song about abortion its not a joke. How can you laugh during this song
This song is about abortion.
This one was a little painful to watch. You decided what the song was about beforehand, and you missed everything.
They're fucking idiots
React to the luckiest. Trust me.
You guys did not get the song at all. Totally wrong vibe.
its only because the person who submitted this, erroneously told them it was just about depression
If I ever want a reactor to completely miss the obvious meaning of a song, I'll watch you guys.
Whole song about abortion
Good gosh. I was hoping for a heartfelt reaction. You two did this song zero justice. How incredibly disappointing. Please please delve deeper. You missed it completely.
Just spent 10 minutes watch two people miss the point of the song
Not for me...I'll pass
