Thanks! I get a lot of comments on that - think it throws people for a loop with my Southern accent. People don't expect someone of my demographic to appreciate Malcolm X the way I do. Not sure what happened with this video - didn't realize until later that I only posted the raw footage with no slides on the screen, but then I've got six likes and no dislikes. What's the deal?
I want you as my professor. You're much more informed than my current professor and also much funnier. So please fly over to the Netherlands, I'm sure the university would grant you a spot ^^
Tom Richey LOL That is a goal of mine. I have a four year old daughter and I'd like her to start learning Latin down the road and I could learn it with her.
Tom Richey Great idea! My dad and I studied hebrew together and that turned out to be a better motivation than any class I could've attended, haha. So pick up your family, start teaching at my faculty and just do a latin course literally across the street. Everyone happy =D
Your videos, although I'm sure they're not meant for this, are GREAT for cramming. Hope you post the same type of series for APUSH next year! (Then maybe AP Gov/AP Comparative Gov senior year?)
That's what I've been doing too! I started watching them Monday and will finish the playlist at least tonight. If he does APUSH next year I will be beyond grateful
Thank you so much for these review videos it's made studying so much easier! My current AP European History teacher uses your power points as well and they are very helpful!
I am learning this at Fort Dorchester way down in North Charleston, our teacher is great but he is more serious with it and I like your approach on teaching it in a lectured way instead of solid notes and no references to the normal daily life we all face, it makes things more interesting.
I really love your videos! One thing I think would really help though would be to have dates of inventions and peoples lives in brackets next to them when you mention them. I realize this may be a little more work but it makes memorizing dates MUCH easier. This doesnt apply to any video in particular just a suggestion for future videos. Thanks for doing these, makes studying a little less boring!
In german Tetzel said (in archaic german of course): „Sobald der Gülden im Becken klingt im huy die Seel im Himmel springt“ Or in a more modern way: „Sobald das Geld im Kasten klingt, die Seele in den Himmel springt!“ Which would be in englisch (free translation): "If the money makes sounds in the box, the soul will jump to heaven."
Greetings from Germany! We are celebrating the 500th anniversary of Martin Luther's church reform on 2017-10-31! It's a one-time national holiday for all Germans!!
Amphisbaena I LOVE MR N! Whatever happened to his class from last year? I used to hear from them all the time then they just stopped. Glad to hear Mr. N is still doing the good work!
But one point is often overlooked. At the time of Luther there was no uniform language in Germany (cultural area). But there are many German dialects. The administrative language is still French. The church language is Latin. And the language of the people is German (literally deutsch = the language of the people). With his translation of the Bible and through Gutenberg, Luther created a unified German language for the first time. It even went so far as to add explanations of the meaning of the words used to the first Bible. This was the first time a German from northern Germany could communicate with a Bavarian from the south.
Great lecture. Too bad I couldn't see what was on the picture slides. I could imagine stuff in my head well enough. There were a couple of odd things. One is about Charles having a funny chin. I have seen reenactments on UA-cam, and he looked fine. The weirdest part of video is the Purgatory part in the beginning. I picture Purgatory as a mountain. People climb up the mountain, and perform hard labor. That is how they work off thier sins. Only the worst of the worst of people would be burned. I am thinking of people like murderers, robbers and tyrants. The description in the video is far different. Maybe my ideas is due to the Divine Comedy being my favorite depiction of Christian cosmology and due to me ripping off the Purgatorio part. I guess there are other wierd parts of the Divine Comedy. In Paradisio, Heavin gets mixed up with outer space. The planets come in a wierd order since this was apparently before the discovery of Uranus, Neptune or even just helocentric model in general. In Inferno, there is a part where Hell literally freezes over. It is even in the deepest part where there s Satan. I like the Divine Comedy for including Purgatory and having a really detailed look. It is really interesting to explore. On another note poking fun at German language mae me laugh. I feel so guilty but it. To be fair, German can sound very nice. It doesn't always have to be harsh, guttural and screaming. I think it is plausible for a German guy to sing something pretty while selling indulgences.
Exodus 12:14 God commanded the Passover liturgy to be "forever". In the OT, could a Hebrew/Jew only "symbolically" eat the unleavened bread and meat of the lamb? I think we all know the answer and ask any Jew who celebrates the Passover even to this very day. So, what does Jesus who was being liturgically consistent command us to do in the upper room while celebrating this "forever" feast? John 1:29 and 1 Corinthians 5:7 "For our Pascal Lamb, Christ, has been sacrificed". The Exodus 12:14 "forever" command puts in proper context what Jesus commands us to do in John 6:53-54 to have ETERNAL LIFE and for death to "Passover". Come to believe in the ONE TRUE FAITH: Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church.
Tom Richey We have 99% in common my brother. Matthew 16:18-19 Jesus according to almost all historians spoke in Aramaic NOT Greek. There is only ONE meaning for "Rock" in Aramaic. Understanding this, we know Jesus was giving the "keys to the Kingdom" to Peter NOT all the apostles. Come to the complete fullness of faith my brother.
I'm a priest, you're wrong! There's no God! there are the seven gods of Jesus, the saviour; Jehovah, the Baby maker; Allah, the speaker, The Holy Ghost, the giver of talents; Santa Claus, the giver of stuff; The Easter Bunny, the necromancer; and the tooth fairy, giver of money.
Thanks! I get a lot of comments on that - think it throws people for a loop with my Southern accent. People don't expect someone of my demographic to appreciate Malcolm X the way I do.
