WoW !! Mike playing grand funk Railroad...who would've guessed..great song and good to see Mark Farner again..i always liked Grand Funk Railroad...🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I was like 14 when this came out. My most favorite ever. My son and I would sing this Son and I would sing this to the top of our lungs. My son is now 29. He listens to old school.
I’m a 70s kid. This is on of my most favorite songs. I moved to island park Idaho back in the early 2000s. I taught this to my young son. We would sing at the top of our lungs while taking a load to island park from Utah. Yes some of us Utah people get into this. We ain’t all what you heard.
Mark Farner should be in the Rock HOF even without GFR. He wrote so many great songs. He was the driving force behind GFR with his guitar work and voice. He is GFR. Would not waste my time buying a ticket to see Don and Mel without Mark.
They just played in Louisiana,,, I called my brother and told him that there's a band they are trying to call themselves Grand Funk is playing in Louisiana .. We got a laugh out of it .. wannabe's
And that’s how it all started all those years ago , hearing those opening chords and then Mark’s solo with Grand Funk and without Grand Funk, Mark Farner is the Captain
Much love and respect to Mark Farner. I listened to GFR so much when I was growing. They always had a lot of fun rockin' songs and had high energy shows. But when they wrote this song, this elevated them in my opinion to among the best of song writers. I know the inspiration of this song was the Pueblo incident - but to have come up with this classic - it shows their passion for our country and for what is right and wrong. This song is always in my heart.
H.J. I realize I'm coming into this comments section a little late but when you mentioned this song was based on the Pueblo incident, a light came on inside me. I have vague memories of it but want to learn more.
I did not know Mike Huckabee played Bass!!! Man how cool to have a Rock Bass player in the White House! Still think Mike would make a great President! Being from Michigan we all know Grand Funk!
I not only liked it ............ I LOVED it. Listened to those lyrics a lot counting down the days 'til deployment out of 'Nam. "I'm getting closer to my home".
Mark Farner is the real deal born again Christian. The devil used his friends and managers to try to destroy his life and rip him off and all he did was say I don't have time for this and he forgave everyone of them. He puts his treasure in heaven.
My brother and I played this song when my dad was making his transition to the other side to be with our higher power... going home or as Mark would say "leaving his bone suit " it was a awesome transition.
This is awesome! Mark Farner IS Grand Funk Railroad! Not the band touring and calling themselves GFR. Mr. Huckabee does a great job on this tune as well. He is an accomplished bassist!
Great job with vocals, backing vocals and musicianship. Mike nailed the iconic bass riffs with authority and Mark is still vital, both as a guitarist and vocalist. We all grew up with GFR. Critics hated them but we loved them.
Love this and have always Liked Mark since I was a teen. He WAS GFR--Period!! Also, I like the way Huckabee is playing the bass---sounds pretty darn good!!!
In basement of high school friend when first heard and Seen GFR and their transparent Vinyl album. Mark Farner , thanks for being so good. Also Good job getting old. Much ❤️ and respect, from Colorado.
Great performance by a great musician and singer. Mark still has the pipes and skill! I must say, way to go, Mike Huckabee!! Awesome job on the bass!! Kudos to all!!
i was visting my aunt and cousins in Flint Mi..and remember Mark, Mel & Don very well. Mark, remembers the kid wandered in the 'garage' that day of rehearsle (which was a bar..sort of. but became one later) i starred and didnt speak. i had followed the sound of this band and wandered off about 2 blocks. everyone was looking for me and i was there watching...what would become Grand Funk R/R. i had no idea who they were, i was only 7 at the time. by 1976 i had knew exactly who they were...look Richie, that band..is famous now. i was blown away. accidentally discovered GF R/R on a chance visit to an aunts house one day and have been a fan all my life. im 56 yrs old.
WOW!! What a gifted musician and a wonderful human being Mark Farner is. He has suffered tragedy and indignity with courage and grace. His voice remains great and he has remained true to his rock and roll roots. God bless Mark Farner!
There’s that voice we grew up to! Grand Funk is not Funk without Farner!
NO Farner ,,,, No Funk..... brother !!!!
Just something about his voice. It's memorable and it's amazing.
It's not GRAND without Mark !

Who is MIKE
@@johngaribaldi2500 Huckabee...
Mark is Grand Funk!!
This is great. Mark has not lost his voice at all and Mike you did a great job on bass. The bass plays a big part in the song.
Mike plays a Gretch as well. Reminds me of the early days of Rush.
Mike is mostly playing the root notes and missing many of the signature bass licks that were really prominent in this song. But he is doin' OK.
@@funkfan1751Bass needed to be a little louder too, because of its prominence in the songs groove. But all in all good job... God Bless them all !
Jesus is Farner's Captain now! WooHoo! The song takes on a whole new meaning. ✝ = ❤
Amen, Paul. I'm a work in progress myself. It's a step at at time. God Bless and Jesus is the Way. There's hope for this sinner yet.
@@marshalldevinejr.8078 , it never stops being a work in progress. That's how Jesus wants it...to strive harder each day to be more like Him. 🙂🙏✝️
Jesus and Mark go back to the breakup ! Hello
Bought the album when it came out. I'm 69 years old now, never get tired of listening to it.
Great performance! And congrats on your ambassadorship, Governor Huckabee.
Im so impressed with the Governor's talent. I play guitar and drums but I love to watch someone who plays bass and plays it well.
Marks still Championing us Veterans, GOD Bless you Mark, keep on singing!!! Brother Nick in NY.

I agree!
They just played in Louisiana,,, I called my brother and told him that there's a band they are trying to call themselves Grand Funk is playing in Louisiana .. We got a laugh out of it .. wannabe's
I've listened to some of UA-cam videos of GFR - Mark and they sound like a tribute band at a State Fair.
@@paulelliott682 To each his own .. We don't know .You might like listening to rap ! ..
The One and only The Legend My Hero...Mark Farner ❤!!!
What a fantastic performance. Ty Mr. Farner and Gov. Huckabee.
Yes, it is. And, the governor is doing a great job on the bass. Must have watched Mel to try to get it right.
One of the most underrated rock songs of all time
Has always been one of my very favorites!!!!!!
First time seeing this, being a major fan of GFR and Mark Farner, and the Huckster bringing the low end was impressive.
I saw Mark sing this 52 years ago in the Yale Bowl, New Haven, Ct. Yes was the opening band.
Killer Mike jamming with a legend...way cool.!!!
Playing bass with grand funk. How cool!
Not bad bass player Huckabee!..!!👏👏👍👍
I used to play this in my band back in the 70s, still play it! 🎸
This song always makes me tear up. So glad to hear Mark sing it.
And that’s how it all started all those years ago , hearing those opening chords and then Mark’s solo with Grand Funk and without Grand Funk, Mark Farner is the Captain
wow... he is still rockin'! amazing!
Mark, you make me proud to be not only an American,,,but from Michigan too !! God bless you !!
Wow! One of the greatest Rock and Rollers of all time! Why is Grand Funk not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. That is an Injustice.
I agree

Wow, love the REAL grand funk, with Mark Farner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is awesome! Mark Farner IS Grand Funk Railroad! Not the band touring and calling themselves GFR. Mr. Huckabee does a great job on this tune as well. He is an accomplished bassist!
Mike H reading of the funky bassline score is rather impressive. To play in lockstep with Mark Farner on this classic takes some talent.
Wait what?
This is my estranged wife and I song when we left the rust belt for a better life out west. Memories
That was great! I haven't heard anything from Mark since the day.
Bravo Mark & Mike 👏🏻
That was an amazing performance

Holy shhhhh MAN OH MAN ALIVE!!! THAT DUDE COULD/SHOULD DO AN ALBUM, HIS VOICE IS AT ITS CRESCENDO, DUDES IN HIS PRIME.
Great job with vocals, backing vocals and musicianship. Mike nailed the iconic bass riffs with authority and Mark is still vital, both as a guitarist and vocalist. We all grew up with GFR. Critics hated them but we loved them.
