Thank you! I just got two females and they are kind of skittish. One lets me handle her, but the other one is more scared and sometimes let me pet her and sometimes she runs. Against her will, I grabbed her and sit her with me so she can start bonding (they've been with me for 10 days) and I noticed some residuals on her butt, so I cleaned it with water, but it's still not as clean. She didn't like it.
@@carliescavies6978 ok thanks but no he's not having no problems with his grease gland yet only problem I'm having is he doesn't like veggies which is crazy no matter how many time's I put veggies in front of him he won't eat it he'll eat his Timothy hay his hard and drink his water any idea's on how I can get him to eat veggies
@@JessandKen251 Give him some time! he is still a baby and will learn. Keep offering, he will figure it out. Does he have a friend? often times they will learn from cagemates what is good and bad to eat. But, like I said, give him some time, he'll eventually try them.
Guinea Pig: "Nooo! My grease! My wonderful smelly grease!"

This was really helpful! Thanks!
Thank you, this helped so so much, it worked like magic!
Sometimes my male guinea pig rubs his grease gland when I have my hand in his cage
In case you didn't know, it's actually the perineal gland right near their vaginal area that is used for scent marking.
Is the grease gland the same thing as a boar piggy’s “pocket”? Thank you!
No it is not. Both male and female guineas have a grease glad.
Shes a good girl 🥰🥰
So a little bit of Dawn dish soap will help to?
I found that it does if it is stubborn
@@carliescavies6978 thanks my piggie is around 2 month's should i be checking his grease gland now
Always be checking, but that’s young to be having a problem with grease

My Ralph does
My Guinea pig male has no hair in that spot and has yellow discharge coming out? The other make hair what seems like crust or scabs?
The glands can get infected. I would check with a vet
What else can we use if we can't get coconut oil??
You can use olive oil, shortening or even butter
@carliescavies6978 thank you 😊
No gloves
Sometimes you get your hands dirty as a pet owner 😆
How dirty, where's your gloves! I have animals too and I ware gloves!
Gloves get in the way
@@Linda-ji8qd it’s not that serious, just watch your hands after and you’re good.
@@Linda-ji8qd if you're not afraid to get dirty why have animals gloves just get in the way 🧐
hey, what is the breed of guinea pig your washing? he has long hair only on his butt like maxi! i really wanna know what kind of piggie he is.
Hi! She is a mixed breed- some sort of Sheltie American mix
Interesting!
Cause maxi looks exactly the same
Long hair only on the butt, yet some long fur on the ears
So you’re talking about their perineal sack.....
No, this is not the perineal sac. This is the grease gland at the base of their tailbone. You don’t clean female perineal sacks.
It's weird to think that these animals don't exist in the wild.
yes they do
they do..💀
They definitely live in New Guinea!!!!
