Recorded at Two Sticks Audio, Seattle WA, by Don Gunn, with assistance from Jackson Long. Mixed by Don Gunn. Mastered by John McCaig at Panic Studios.
Video by Patrick Strole. Thanks to all those who shot raw footage in the studio: Jeff Leisawitz, Crystal Munson, Don Gunn, Joanne Olsen, Derek Munson.
Norwegian Wood written by Lennon/McCartney, published by Northern Songs. Kashmir written by Page/Plant/Bonham, published by Superhype/WEA.
Norwegian Wood:
I once had a girl,
Or should I say she once had me.
She showed me her room,
Isn't it good? Norwegian wood.
She asked me to stay and she told me to sit anywhere,
So I looked around and I noticed there wasn't a chair.
I sat on a rug
Biding my time, drinking her wine.
We talked until two,
And then she said 'It's time for bed'.
She told me she worked in the morning and started to laugh,
I told her I didn't, and crawled off to sleep in the bath.
And when I awoke
I was alone, this bird has flown
So I lit a fire,
Isn't it good? Norwegian wood.
Kashmir:
Oh let the sun beat down upon my face, stars to fill my dream
I am a traveler of both time and space, to be where I have been
To sit with elders of the gentle race, this world has seldom seen
They talk of days for which they sit and wait and all will be revealed
Talk and song from tongues of lilting grace, whose sounds caress my ear
But not a word I heard could I relate, the story was quite clear
Oh, oh.
All I see turns to brown, as the sun burns the ground
And my eyes fill with sand, as I scan this wasted land
Trying to find, trying to find where I've been.
Oh, pilot of the storm who leaves no trace, like thoughts inside a dream
Heed the path that led me to that place, yellow desert stream
My Shangri-La beneath the summer moon, I will return again
Sure as the dust that floats high in June, when movin' through Kashmir.
Oh, father of the four winds, fill my sails, across the sea of years
With no provision but an open face, along the straits of fear
Hans Gruber on the Flute!! All seriousness this is OUTSTANDING!
😅😅
McClain....😂😂😂
That was seriously funny!
How is it that this is 11 years old and i just discovered it? Simply amazing
Thanks Thomas!!
2020 and I'm still listening to this version. It is amazing. And I keep recomending it.
Me too!!!
I can't believe I have not ever seen or heard of this band until now....this was played 11 yrs ago. Always enjoyed Norwegian Wood. Kashmir is my favorite Zeppelin song. Never dreamed these 2 songs blended so well together....this is excellent!!!
Thank you Kathy!!
I've been coming back since 2011 from time to time. This version of both these masterpieces is huntingly good!
Heyyyyyy thank you!!
there's never been a smoother transition between the songs of 2 different genre bands. Masterpiece 👌👌
I can't believe that this video is already 13 years old. Watched this in my teenage years back when I had a band and dreamed of covering this. Now a dad, bedroom guitar player, miss the good ol days. Amazing cover.
Love this! Thank you Bruno.
9 yrs later and this is still awesome!!!
2024 and I'm still here, as the first time ❤
Thank you Muriel!
Very impressive, from a Beatles and Zeppelin fan for over 30 years.
Almost 2022 and I am STILL listening to this.
Great! You blended The Beatles and Zeppelin perfectly, you found the perfect songs of which riffs really fit together !
I always felt that if Zeppelin would have a bit more of the Beatles melodic side and The Beatles more of the Zeppelin technique, you would have a totally perfect band! They are both perfect anyway!
Great vocals, such great technique and control, I wish I was that good! And the guys really smoke it instrumentally!
In the interest of listening to new music, I listened to this for the past few days. I grew up listening to the Beatles sing this, Frampton and Zeppelin. In my most honest opinion I love the passion in which it is both sung and played. The runs are amazing and the voice control mesmerizing! It has quickly become my favorite version and is now on my playlist. I have also shared it out so my friends can enjoy it as well.
Thank you Doris! So glad you enjoyed it, and thank you _so_ much for sharing it.
both songs convey much power, and the transition is seamless... epic ! 🙏✌️☀️
Thank you Christopher!
That transition was _so_ much fun to figure out: s a 12-bar phrase from the first song sliding right across the top of a 16-bar phrase from the 2nd song, & then - bam, here's Kashmir!
I am blown away! FANTASTIC arrangement of these two classic songs; outstanding performance all around; vocals are AMAZING. And you all are so much fun to watch!
Love hearing this, Alyra - especially the last part about the _fun!_ Very much obliged.
2024 e ainda ouço essa faixa. Sensacional!
Obrigada, Nancy!
This is one of the most amazing musical endeavors I've ever heard.
Absolutely incredible! I have watched this video several times and never get tired of it. A consumate bunch of great musicians.
You to just saw and heard what I just saw and heard, wow, that was amongst the best of interpretations of these great classics that I have ever heard and one of the best tributes ever to the Beatles and Lead Zeppelin
I've honestly come back here loads of times. I LOVE this cover.
As a group, the musicality emits powerful interpretations of the classic songs. These arrangements are sure to be taken in live by an audience in both a cerebral and emotional way!
Only just discovered this. Great stuff!
2022 and still listening to this awesome track!
Tusen takk fra en gammel Zeppelin som sitter allene midt i norsk skogen !😎🌲🌲🌲🌲🌳🖖
Værsågod! Takk for at du lyttet!
3 yrs later I had to come back and reaffirm how I think this is one of the most impressive covers I've ever heard. I hope you guys have found the success you deserve. You have achieved greatness. That is rare.
I totally agree with Andy. In fact, I have formed a new band and I am using this as a benchmark for the excellence I expect us to shoot for. Outstanding work.
I don't know why I've never seen this one before. It's really jamming. I love a good drone. I'm talking about the sitar like sound in the background on Norwegian wood
Excellent arrangement, I really love to hear new arrangements of great songs, interesting to see what good musicians can do especially with acoustic classics.
Kashmir is one of my favorite Led Zeppelin songs to sing. Go Nuts!!!!
Really? It's _hard_ to sing! Go Becky!
Awesome again! Just discovered you guys.. the Aaron English band awesome music!!!
You never cease to please. Loved it and it was exactly what I needed to hear today.
_Wonderful_ to hear. Thank you Laura!!
Love! Especially loved the addition of flute! excellent vocals. You rock, boys!
this the best of a Beatles song I have ever heard
@rouelibre1 Very cool to see that your caught the B3 organ in this: we had to overdub it because we ran out of hands while tracking. Re: the drums, whew, glad to hear that we were able to honor Bonzo's classic groove. He had an absolutely unearthly sound, and there's no recreating it.
Wow, this was amazing! Being both a huge Zeppelin and Beatles fan, I can safely say that you did justice to both songs!
Excellent version, and this band Rocks, and the vocalist outstanding.
Thanks Ian!!
Still one of, if not THE best covers I've ever heard. Absolutely amazing. And who knew that Alan Rickman played the flute?? Hanz Gruber...a rocker! Nice!!
Wow! Talk about control and improvisation and working with dynamics - crescendo, diminuendo... man! Each one of these guys resonates, knows their stuff! All for one and one for all! The vocals, Aaron English is astounding. They reinvented this great song, each musician giving their all, their own soul-print on this song! The percussions, all! Paul McCartney should hear this! I hope to hear, experience... this group live some day! I wonder if they ever come to Minnesota. Sounds like a minor key signature (Dm?). What open tuning is the guitarist playing in? Anyone know? All in such a tiny cramped space yet they spread their wings, far and wide, open a universe! Thanks for sharing such talent!
I was going to write a comment, but mwj5368 said everything I felt to a tee! What a magnificent band!
I'd assume he's playing in drop d, However Kashmir is normaly in dadgad
This is super cool! Really amazing performance to all of you! This is so heavy. You really nail the Robert Plant vocals! (:
Thank you Kalynn!!
Thank you for the beautiful concert last night in Staden - Belgium and for your patience when looking at my works.
Thanks for coming, Jef! Thanks, as well, for the tour of your (& your wife's) stunning artwork - & the work of art that you have made of your life!
The subtle and melodic layer of Kashmir perfectly creates a soothing calm to Beatles 'pop'er' sound
Power and Clean....amazing cover. Ciao from Italy
what a brilliant bit of drumming....you've got the Bonham chops
What a voice, what a sound. Absolutely fabulous!!!
Great job!! Too of my favorites!!
love this!
Thanks Frank!! 🙏
Aaron English shows once again how impressive his voice and what a great musician he is. A true artist.
A very good comment. Compliments. And what about the rest of the band ??? They're all fantastic.
Quite simply the best cover ever. Amazing musicians and what a voice!
The drummer is KILLING IT. They are all Talented but the singer and Drummer... DEAR GOD aka Led Zeppelin !!!! are KILLERS!!!
Thank you Rob!!! 🙏
thank you!!!!!!@@aaronenglishmusic
Man playing flute looks like Alan Rickman. Performance is awesome.
***** really and what did he answer? By the way what is his name?
ჰაჰაჰაჰა მეც ეგ ვიფიქრე ზუსტად
Holy shit you're right. He looks like Rickman as the Sheriff of Nottingham! (Robin Hood film). It's uncanny. :O
LOL I was just about to comment on that, but you beat me to it...by about 4 years.
Queen Rait,
Just commented that on someone else’s post.
Now I feel like I’m a day-late-dollar-short troll 🥴
Alan Rickman is a beast on the flute!
Andrew Goulet,
He’s been practicing when not chasing Robin Hood 😜
Love it! Two of my fav songs put together with artistry, precision & passion. You guys truly rock!
Amazing job guys! Being only of the age that I am, I do listen to pretty much only this type of music. Vocals sound just like Robert does when you first entered into "Kashmir". Once again well done all of you and Good Luck!
6:55- 7:08
WHOA.
Yes, that's Metatron on flute!
(Obscure "Dogma" reference, soon to be a question on Jeopardy!)
Wow, just seeing this for the first time, MIND BLOWN!!!!
Awesome to hear - thank you Benjamin!!!
Excellent. Simply excellent.
If you are hearing this today you are not alone. We are the resistance

@psandoval318 Thanks Peter! We'd love to play Dallas; I wish I had more of an answer for you than that...!

I always wondered why some covers are better than the original......coz they worship and respect their idols so much that that they don't want to let them down. See them immersed is awesome, wow goose bumps moments

I have been a die hard Zeppelin fan for over 35 years, and that is one of the best covers I've ever heard. Great vocals and fantastic musicianship!
Well done, at times I was almost transported to a feeling of complete 'back in the day' . You have captured the absolute essence of Zep. Way to go lads, well done.
Gorgeous. That's one hell of a voice.
