This is what skateboarding is about!!! Touching grass, making friends, building confidence, learning new things and progressing towards goals. Im hyped this all worked out and I got to know Maya. More fun soon :)
Please do whatever you can to continue doing these with her! As a non-skater, this stream and that followup one, were unbelievably fun to watch... You two just have awesome energy, it was infectious.
I hope that maybe you'll get to bring Janise out to Alveus, once the wolves are in and situated. 😊
Thank you for reaching out to Maya, and giving us such inspiring and wholesome entertainment! 🤘♥️
Huge props.
So how long until Maya becomes a pro?
thank you for giving maya and us hope
You're a hero. Keep it up Ricky. For the love of skate!
After the last kickflip video, Maya inspired me to no longer try new things. This time, she has inspired me to only try new things with direct professional guidance. Shout out to Ricky!
That is actually very sweet and also very good advice. 😂❤
Education works, smh
I'm ready to go out there man! Dying to try my new skateboard. Now I just need a camera and a cameraman, a professional and a large audience to stream too. Can't wait!
Subscribed loll
Frankly, if you can afford it, this is the absolute best way to learn anything. UA-cam videos are second best though!
This guy is so nice and comforting. Skateboarding is HARD. But it will make you HARDER as well. Stay vigilant Maya.
Skating does make me harder
wdym harder? like stronger?
@@sockdonuts nah like better and faster
Ricky is the goat of skateboarding q
@@sockdonutskinda yeah. If you actually commit and learn how to skate it will build your confidence alot. Sports that any second you can easily snap your ankles or arms just by trying the easiest tricks is terrifying to learn. I've broken my rist over 6 times I've broken my ankles and gotten like 50 springed ankles also broke my ribs skating rails. It might sound funny but you learn how to fall so you don't get hurt it will just take time and everyone learns at a different speed. The younger you learn the better. Kids don't break as easily cause they're already pretty close to the ground before they fall.
Maya saying "are you having fun?" to the guy giving her lessons is such a mood
For real, as a formative trumpeter, I feel that same way towards my current teacher, I feel like I got a good connection with him but at the same time I want to make sure that my teacher is having fun teaching me
"You may roll a little bit after..."
Maya: "uiihiihhhhhhh" **board gone**
That was waaaaaayyy more than a little roll
Skateboarding: touch grass until you can touch concrete
That is SUCH a mood
Wish concrete even existed in my country lol
Some fucked asphalt or bricks the only choice
maya being flabbergasted when the professional skater does a skate trick
Do you not get excited when a magician performs a nice magic trick in front of you just because you know they're a magician?
honestly i think its because when shes actively trying to skate she can kind of appreciate the skills in a new way XD
@@Nitiduslol this made me think of how incredibly boring the Olympics would be with this attitude
its one thing to know pro skaters can do cool tricks, its whole different thing when u get into the whole topic and know what kinda skill it takes. and then seeing it in first person on top of it 👍
@@rickyglaser It's great that this can be applied to pretty much any skill. Like you'll appreciate anything from art and electronics to speedrunning a lot more if you try to get into it, even if it doesn't become your thing
This series made me go out and get a skateboard. I’m disabled and haven’t tried skateboarding since I was a kid. But for now I have pretty decent mobility so I decided to just get a cheap one to skate around a bit. Even if I won’t be able to do many tricks or even do it for long I’m having a lot of fun while I can! Thanks for getting me to try it!
Hell yea! 🤘😫🤘
If there's any takeaway: start with the Ollie 😊
*_You got 'dis!_*
A cheaper board might make it a lil more difficult which is fine just remember getting started into skating is hard and thats normal. And just skating around is def best way to start and to get comfortable with it
so fun cruisin around
This is so freakin' badass.
Hell yeah have fun!
when i was first learning how to ride a skateboard, i honestly just put on a helmet and borrowed my brother's skateboard. i fell many, many times, and i could not land a single trick. but to my surprise, a super nice person rode by on their bike, watched me fall and sit down in defeat, and they stopped and said, "keep going! you will get it!" i kept going and eventually i made some friends who helped me learn, and i got the hang of it. i'm so proud of you for not letting that kickflip defeat you, maya!
When I was getting into skateboarding I did the same and Tony Hawk came over and told me I suck. I told him he sucks and I became Tony Eagle. One day I will become the greatest skateboarder on this planet and everyone will forget about the Hawk and remember the Eagle buhahahahahabababab
tony hawk and napoleon bonaparte is a power duo
I love it! Learning to fall is THE most important thing to learn in skateboarding. That may sound weird, but It's true. It develops a presence of mind to understand exactly what's going to happen and how to escape it with minimal to no harm to yourself. It happens subconsciously, notice how Ricky reacts to catching Maya's board as it's happening. She's also going through "beginner falls" which are the scariest. HUGE respect for anyone fighting through them! You got this!
@@ShmoopShmooply true, I'm always falling head first because that's the part of my body where I can break the least kek
The black hair really fits Mayas vibe. Could really see why people call her Aubrey plaza.
she cried
I thought only I could see the resemblance 😅
everybody is their own person
Wrong. Everyone is his own person except me, I'm Napoleon Bonaparte, the greatest human ever alive. I came back. Hi.
@@Noqtis hey bone man, whats good

Thanks, I was looking for the 36 second mark forever but couldn’t find it
Im actually digging the super snappy and quick intro with directly calling us UA-cam🤣
I miss when she would yell at us 🤣😅
_"*kicks door open* _*_Y O U_*_ T U B E !"_
UA-cam! Like and subscribe
Maya getting hit in the shin and crying out "Riiiickkkyyyy!!" 😂 so good
As a former sponsored skater and someone that has always had a passion for animal conservation, this hits a weird niche for me and I love it.
This was so fun to watch, you’ll get it soon Maya!!
I love his positivity in teaching, and finding ways to keep you interested. Like taking turns doing a trick, or going and talking to the other skaters. You can tell he really loves the sport, and is filled with joy when someone else wants to learn.
I was also impressed by his teaching skills.
Thats the whole skate community as well. We know how hard it is to skate, so whenever some one wants to learn we try to pass on our knowledge. If someone is making fun of you for trying, they arent a real skater.
@@LetsGoMan It reminds me of DnD.
I started playing 3 years ago, and now whenever I meet someone who casually mentions it, or seems interested, I right away jump at the chance to invite them to a game, and help them out.
I don't like running games, but I've done it now multiple times for friends who are just starting out, cause I want to make sure the experience is comfortable and fun.
And if there are players out there who don't like playing with newbies, then they are toxic.
@@LetsGoMan Just grab your skate by the wheels, ride primo or do another "extreme" sport aside from skating (be it bmx or rollerskating) and you'll get a taste of the skate "community".
Still, it is an amazing discipline just like the other mentionned and I wish it was more encouraged and supported by cities for younger generations. It really is a good and healthy way to actually go outside.
@@Lamren Nah man it ain’t like that at all, 95% of skaters don’t care how you skate. All that matters is if you’re trying. Fortunately cities, at least around me have put up a lot of skateparks. Skateboarding has skyrocketed in the recent years and it’s just going to keep getting bigger.
Maya, your tenacity is just insane! Favorite streamer !
i wish there was more of the friend making featured in this vid… it was so sweet😭😭
This is my favorite collaboration ever. Ricky is from Braille skateboarding on UA-cam, and they have a ton of instructional and just all around good videos to watch if you’re interested in skateboarding in the slightest.
Congrats on the shuvit Maya, love seeing the progression!!
She on Xgames mode!
I love this series. Skateboarding is hard af, people don't appreciate the time (and pain) that people put into it.
You'll get there Maya, just have to keep trying.
I love just how supportive he is.
These videos are fun for watching Maya struggle, but the sheer number of attempts she puts is honestly pretty inspiring. Patience & perseverance!
I've been skating for more than half my life and have only been able to kickflip like 3-4 times in that whole time, so no rush!!!! You can do it.
This is why UA-cam is the best. In my day...lol...they'd show the final win and not all the fails along the way. Love seeing how difficult these things are and how these folks are masters of their craft. Maya you crazy girl lol
I haven't watched the video through yet, idk if you do a kickflip. But I wanted to say I'm glad you gave it another go- It's super inspiring and despite the pain you went through(especially the first time) you still had fun!!
Maya you're genuinely super rad
The fact that he is so good he can mess up in the exact way to show her what she is doing wrong is insane
Ricky is so nice + he is a badass skater
Maya has been putting out amazing content lately. Give her a follow on Twitch and watch live. Didn’t get the idea of watching live before but it’s been fun
Maya, i adore this series! Ricky knowing how to make skateboarding content benefitted this episode so much
Okay this is really cool. Haven't really watched your content before but I saw the title.
I just love seeing random fits of determination, on something that someone may not have ever had the urge to do before, but keeps at it and gain some respect for the craft.
Well done and props to you
This is a crossover I never expected! Ricky is awesome
this was both so fun and inspiring! wants me to get back into skating. more videos with Ricky and skating please.
He is a really cool guy and such a great teacher and patient! He made this look fun!
LETS GO MAYA!!! Couldn't believe it when I read the title. I'm so happy to see you're getting into skateboarding, I got my first board in preschool and now I'm going on 27 and never looked back. I'm on the sidelines recovering from my first surgery, so thanks for the extra hype to get back on it!!
I'll never forget how good the first kickflip felt, I ended up learning heelflips first for some reason though. Keep at it
this is 1000/10 content. I dont even skate, I did a little when younger and was big into skate culture stuff with my friend in middle school. so it's cool to see someone just stream them learning for hours a day.
managed to catch part of this stream. great skate support session
thumbnail goes hard, good job mayo
was not expecting this mashup but it was lovely. been following ricky for a long time so i was genuinely surprised
I really like how you have chaged, You seem so confident and it looks like you are enjoying life more!
Happy for you :D
I've been watching Ricky since he moved to America to skate for Braille. Such an awesome dude and skateboarder.
14:39: Best trick of the entire video
keep going, skateboarding is fun as hell once you get the feeling.
Learning a kickflip though takes some time. 20 minute adventure in and out.
Ricky is also a genuinely insanely nice guy glad you guys have fun shredding
I said it last time, and I mean it more this time, your determination is admirable as heck. To see a non-skater try so hard to get a kickflip is both validating (as a skater) and inspiring (as a skater or whoever else, I’d guess) good job! I’m happy I subscribed after your first kickflip video
This is such a fun and wholesome stream. Love it.
Why did this turn into Ricky just showing off really hard tricks haha
Luv you Ricky! Also I love seeing your progression Maya!
Yooo! Of all the colabs things not one I would have ever expected! Props maya and Ricky you brail boss
This video just had me smiling all the way through. Loved how wholesome it was!
Man.. these are just some nice ass people. Love seeing it ❤
I've watched so much Braille, this is such a meeting of the worlds right now. Love it
Yoooo Ricky is a beast. His attitude and positivity helps tenfold.. most of me learning skating is just willing to take those bruises and keep going and if you don’t have a positive mindset or support system it’s hard for anybody to learn anything.. keep up the hustle, both of you 🤙🏽
You absolutely deserved that board. I was so impressed by how long you kept at it. You really are one of the best people :]
It’s always cool to see people like Ricky who are real artists at what they do.
_[TL;DR - I loved every minute of this and hope you continue doing even more streams with Ricky! Please! ♥️]_
I watched that whole VoD, and the other three... I loved every minute, and I'm not even into skateboarding (aside from X-Games in the late-90s).
The fact you and he managed to get you to land a trick _more than once_ is awesome and inspiring. I don't care that it was a Shuvit, because I noticed that was the trick you were almost managing DAY ONE (on *accident!* lol)
I've said it on the VoD, I'll say it here: I really hope you and Ricky will continue to do skating collabs! (the fact you went out to meet him after the fact, gives me hope)
Heck, maybe Ricky can even help with a donation drive stream in the future! 🤷♂️
But yea, I mirror everyone else's sentiments: Ricky is insanely nice, and watching you two was really uplifting. I intentionally watched that over a few days, just because it left me with a smile the whole time... and things that make me smile these days, are rare, so I wanted to savor it. 😊
Also, when the Wolves are established, please have Ricky AND Jenise come for a proper collab (now that Ricky is on Twitch).
Hell, maybe have your new Skater Friend come one day, just for a quick tour like Ricky got. 😊
Loved this vid, ricky is way too good at skating!
I love how encouraging he is!
✊
These have been really great vids Maya.
The footage of Ricky coordinating with Maya to land a trick over, and over, and over again quicky encapsulated visually what persistence is needed to accomplish something.
That's needed for all sports, but for skateboarding especially...
And also translates to life in general.
It's always rad to see something cool take place, but I've always been especially interested in seeing the learning process and perseverance involved in achieving said radness.
Thanks for sharing. ✌️
You got this Maya! Don't get intimidated when someone makes it look easy it just comes from prac and getting the technique down. You got it!
ricky is so nice omg 🥺🫶🏽
Awesome videooo! The "has fentanyl" cracked me up lol
My favorite Maya video ever !! I loved skating as kid, so this felt nostalgic in a way
Good job on this video, it made me laugh a lot and I learned something about skateboarding. Thanks, Ricky, for helping her learn!
This was a really fun video!
Half pipe at Alveus when?
A good teacher makes all the difference and this guy was amazing. Couldn't have asked for better. Really appreciate his patience and skill! Dope video 👍
I was so fucking hyped to see you conquer the shuvit. Took me weeks of brute force to learn that back in the day. Having a good teacher and support system makes a huuuge difference.
Well done on your commitment at least
Dran bleiben! 👍🏼
Ich übe gerade mit meiner Nichte zusammen das Rollschuh fahren. 😅
This guy is awesome to be a pro yet still be this nice and patient teaching someone. Great video.
Awesome. Please do more videos like this
U guys had good chemistry too
3 min in and im loving the editing. Maya is the crying animal from madagascar
This was a really cool stream
This was a rad video! Makes me want to try to pick up skating again in my old age.
yesss great job! hope you keep skating
What a super nice fella.
very good job mr editor. and maya too i guess.
Ricky's so supportive and encouraging, it's great to see
The amount of support is so kind it makes me happy
Dude is PRO!
YESSS FINALLY. DEFEAT WAS NEVER AN OPTION.
I read one tutorial in a magazine and spent night after night after night alone in my parent’s garage and on my neighborhood street popping over and over again until I did it. It’s not as easy as it looks. I’m happy you understand that. Don’t give up! Respect! 👊🏼
SHE IS THE GOAT !!
Maya looks so cool with the black hair
This is sick don’t give up maya!
its good to rest on it, when you wake up, you have new knowledge and good rest and better ideas, and then put it to the test! ur awesome keep up the great work, skating is soo much fun when it just "clicks" and youre like omg, i can do this!
Excellent Maya. Inspired I am....
Glad to hear that Yoda
9:48
Me:”STEEZ”
This was awesome all around
This is the coolest thing posted on UA-cam in a while. Just a bunch of strangers becoming friends while skateboarding. It's like the 00s all over.
Now we just have to wait and see if Maya touches a skateboard again in her life
I mean, I know she did another stream on Ricky's channel, but from then on, who knows if in fact the kickflip beat her.
She seems like such an adorable person! Hope she gets that kickflip down soon!
"Be kind to the scooter kids" what a lad. That R.Willy impact.
Deltarune OST background music detected.
Saw a chicken do this on reddit
I love watching people learn new things. It makes me so happy for them.
Ricky mixing in streaming with skateboarding and collaborating is honestly the best thing for skateboarding content
9:02 that's not a thing
9:08 what the actual fuck are you, mister Glaser... 😱
Watch Rodney Mullen… the godfather of street skating
Is this the tiny house/animal sanctuary girl?
bruh, yes
Honestly one of my if not my very Maya videos! What a Collab! Would be sick to have more with you and Ricky! But I know it's a long way...maybe one in Cali?? Seriously shows how ridiculous what skaters do, always knew I'm not capable of the wizardry they perform on the reg!
I LOVE THIS COLLAB THIS WOULD NEVER BE EXPECTED
