How old are these episodes? Reminds me of the "HORSEPOWER TV" Episodes from the late 1990s. My father and I watch this show together as often as possible! And we then had fun with our company at Car Shows (GOODGUYS) and had fun with the Swap Meet, and MANY Garage sales... I really miss my father, as he passed away 5½ years ago, but I still try to attend our yearly GOODGUYS shows in his honor!
I remember waking up when I was in early high-school in the early 2000s. Sneaking down stairs and getting myself a bowl of cereal to watch without waking anyone up so I could watch Powerblock without fighting with my 3 sisters for the TV. I met the blonde chick that used to host the Powerblock at the St Paul fairgrounds for Car Craft Nationals about 10 years ago. Man, those were the days. Today I have a tubbed out 67 Camaro with a blown 454, sitting on air bags. These guys were my idols growing up.
Things change due to not-new info. If you want it streetable, add a water intercooler intake, because YOU WILL build heat, even at low boost. The intercooler intake will keep the heat moderated, so you can tune for that.
I have a cammed LS with headers in my 2004 chevy shortbed , sounds and runs good , but it doesnt stick out of the engine bay , it doesnt have 2 carburetor’s and it doesnt use a big ass belt not to mention blower whine!
I know. They don't have enough stupid looking ink, they don't act ghetto ignorant, and don't use enough filthy profanity to excite the viewers these days.
for performance if the carbs are sitting in the normal position it can cause the front cylinders to run leaner then the back at least if it is the same in a v8 as it is with a inline 6 but still it is for performance ether way
That didn't cost 15k 😂 maybe about 10 back then and then it's not even turned up on boost. 6-71s can make 700+ but they had a small cam and small lower pulley
@@BigUnk85 It's not a 471 It's a 420 that's different that's like the 250/256 mega blower It's not a GM style so it's equivalent to probably like a 671 cuz 471s have single carbs and they are smaller than this for sure like a 142/144 blower and yeah you could spin it fast enough to make 700 You have to just spend it to 7000 RPM and have a good hydraulic roller or a solid roller and some 200cc CNC heads and it'll do it
@@BigUnk85 oh ok. Still a 420 cid and 6-71 is 411 A 4-71 is hella small. That's like equivalent to a 142/144 even a 177 would make more power. I've seen 177s make 650 on a 383. Richard Holdner did one and a 420 is bigger than that This blower wasn't even being spun hard. 500hp isn't anything for one of these even on 355 inches of small block Now put it on a 383 that makes over 500 on motor and spin it slightly faster on 93 and it'll get interesting. Supposedly these were more efficient than 6-71/8-71s. Haven't been made in years I believe
540 is dog water now a days. Especially a fully built engine. Should pump that bad girl up to 700hp. Drop that pulley size a few notches and get some real power
Man miss these Saturday morning shows 😂couldn’t wait to wake up and watch power block ❤❤
Same, it so was so perfect 👌
@@phillipmartinez2393 yes it was perfect and relaxing
Me too. At least 2 hours of car shows back to back. Then repeated on Sundays. Those early 2000s were a simpler times and I miss them greatly
All been replaced by shows about how to properly “Duck” someone’s Jeep as it sits in the mall parking lot.
Bro every Saturday.
Wow... this was the best part of my childhood weekends. Now, I feel old having stumbled across these
I was watching this as a kid in the late 90s every weekend!

When I heared 15-20 grand that’s my que to leave 😂
Same 😂
When he said the 2000 season talk about flashback time.

$20,000 in 1999 is $36,000 in 2023. We are in a 🤡 🌎
shafiroff racing sells a 427 small block that makes 700HP supercharged for 21,000 right now
@KingJT80 That's a great deal. The inflation from then to now is insane still.
I wasn't even 10 months old when this video came out.
Reversed dome piston. Wouldn't that be a dished piston?
Potato potaato
Cool content.
You need to double key the crank and run a hub. You’ll pitch that damper right off the motor. You’re welcome.
RiP Joe Elmore
Any way to run a air conditioning compressor with one of these blowers I got a 454 I want build with a supercharger and fuel injection
Awesome
Holley heads damm this is vintage
Saying radius’d fillets is like saying “i just got my new standard manual”
A little redundant
Other than that love the vids
🤣 these days you can get a 5.3 LS with heads and cam that'll give you more horsepower than all this with a stock bottom end🤷♂️
LS engines weren’t as common when this show came out
@@GardevoirTrainer1 understood I'm not knocking the build just comparing the then and now differences

Hahaa. The good O'Day!
No grease?
That belts routed wrong?
And if you used "Total Seal" Rings you would never have to worry about the end gaps again!
what cc heads
In this whole video I never saw the first motor being run, everybody I saw was using ENGINES.
I wonder how much schooling they have to go through the talk the way they do. They must have to rehearse it over and over. GODSPEED still cool 😎

This must be an old episode cause 540hp with a blower is a waist of money, You can get more than that from a LS engine without a blower..
