Liked your review... I got this mobile workstation last year when it was first released, with 6 cores... I am having Xeon processor with Nvidia Quadro P2000 and 16 gb of RAM .. I mostly use it for my simulation and engineering work and this workstation feels solid... I have worked it through a full week of continuous running various simulations and it worked like a charm.. never disappointed..no heating issues, no quality issues, no battery or charging issue, no connectivity issue..and even playing games like Forza Horizon is so satisfying with no lag and no heating..
going back to Andrews old reviews to buy this laptop as a used laptop because i trust his reviews
Definitely ZBook G6 is the best mobile workstation currently due to its outstanding power. I prefer ZBook 17 G6 because of a bigger screen and additional ports (like mini Displayport 1.4) but for someone who needs a more compact version ZBook 15 G6 is definitely a great choice.
My usage purposes: Programming, running heavy tests which require booting up lots of VMs, researching.
The machine handles all of my needs blazingly easy. I like that it has metallic corpus and it is very solid. I love the keyboard and its shortcuts. It is very comfortable for programming.
I'm using it for 3 months and I can't find any drawbacks.
Also, if you are considering to buy this laptop, try to find some HP promocode in the Internet. I remember there was 10% off promo code which worked that time (not sure if it still exists).
Hi! I am also developer. I am looking for machine for android development. How is your experience with this machine after 9 month of usage? Have you had any problems with it? Have you had thermal throttling? Is it's fans very noisy? Maby you have considered other laptops like Dell Presicion/Lenogo P52/Macbook Pro 2019? And is it working more loud if I'll connect it to external monitor (which one are you using?)?
@@SerhiyRadkivskyi Sorry for the super late reply haha :) I didn't have any issue with this workstation. After 2 years I can tell you that it's still - beast. The great news is that it's super silent if you are not making heavy video editing (for example MacBook Pro 2019 and Dell XPS 15 are much louder during day to day programming). ZBook is great, so totally recommend it if you are OK with very bulky size. The latest Dell XPS 15 with I9 - 10th gen (it's not a mobile workstation but just a laptop) - and I don't recommend it haha because the touch-pad is very unstable and sometimes I have slight problems on Linux (Fedora 34). At this time I see that ZBook G8 is here and G9 is near the corner. I'm not planning to buy any new laptop soon but if I would choose today between Dell XPS or HP ZBook than I would go with ZBook.

This HP Zbook seems as if it will last for years to come. Being able to upgrade to the latest upcoming software. Switch out batteries like the old days. If you want it bad enough it is a very good investment. And would like to see it in person to see OLED 4K videos & game play.

I havent looked at the HD Zbooks for nearly 5 years...nice to see that they haven't abandoned the easy upgradability aspect and they've come down a little in price. (The rubber pointer made them the only alternative to the ThinkPad line which is why this line was familiar to me.)
Their 14" with options would be one possible way to go, if exploring a Thinkpad aternative...not to mention the recent Dell XPS 13 review which is the other outstanding pick.
Besides the high price, I'd list the rather mediocre battery life on this Zbook as the other negative. Cheers!

This hits every checkmark and you had me at 1080 video webcam. The Xeon is a great processor for a powerhouse like this. I think, for a nice workstation I would certainly love this, the only thing I do not love is the keyboard. I am absolutely against numeric keys on a laptop, they cause the keyboard to be squished. That screen is gorgeous Andrew, I like it a lot. ECC DDR4... that could get expensive, and of course, the laptop itself is quite expensive but I think this is similar to the Lenovo P52 and those ain't cheap either.
I have ordered this with i7. Tomorrow I will get it.

My $800 discontinued upgradeable toshiba satellite vista amd 64 duo thick and all several i/o dvd rw laptop nowadays turned into $2kplus commercial laptops series business and creatives. What a big ripoff vs thin breakable limited cheap looking non upgrade chromebook apple wannabee looking laptops....2016-2020.
