Hey David, I have watched 4 or 5 responses to SLB's challenge and I found you and Baker Drinks were more along the original idea I think Kurt was trying to convey. You gave some "Interesting" examples and your reasoning behind them was unique for sure. I'm curious to where you came across the Smokewagon private barrel ? Well done my friend. D
Hey Dana! I was able to get the first one through their website and this one from a friend who went to Las Vegas and happen to run into a couple. I haven't seen any of them here is SoCal 😆. But if I do, I'll let you know~ Have a fantastic mother's day weekend and cheers ~
I agree with the price! It would get so much more hype and popularity if it just lowered the price a little more. Oh well, I guess they selling out so they don't need to 😆. Thanks for reading my mind, accepting my challenge ahead of time and making your own video 🤣. Have a wonderful Mother's day weekend and cheers~
LOVE your list! I'm not familiar with most of your picks with the exception of K Luke Batch 7 or 8 which I have been hunting for quite some time. Your description of the different bottles is top notch and very motivating to find these. Cheers!
Hey Thomas! I tried to put a slight twist on the list originally made by SLB Drinks as... it's my list 😆 but also to try to make it more interesting 🤣 (pun intended). If you do ever get to try any of the other bottles on the list, let me know your thoughts! Have an interesting Monday and cheers ~
Off the top of my head two of the most interesting whiskeys I have is a 10 year scotch, fully aged and Chardonnay barrels. That one taste really good and spicy. It’s much harder than it’s ABV. Another one is a ranch regulator bourbon with a very different mash bill and the finish is like dark chocolate with coffee grinds.
Hey Michael! Have you given thought about your most interesting bottles? 😆. Let me know what they are when you do! Hope you have a enjoyable week and cheers~
Nice list! My most interesting, recent acquisition is a Pinhook Vertical Series 8 Year store pick. It’s “just” MGP but it is unbelievably dark and rich with strong molasses and caramel notes.
Good video! I was put off by Still Austin's young age statement at first but I've been hearing lots of good things about them. Got the cask strength ready for some day in the future haha
Hey Danny! It's worth a shot especially if you have any coupons from total wine and more 😆. If you need a sample before you buy, let me know 👍. Hope all is well and cheers~
Thank you 😊 it's always fun to do a list like this as it's something I don't think about too often 😆. What are some interesting whiskeys in your collection? Have a wonderful week and cheers~
@@WhiskeyBank hey buddy! I’m always looking for complex yet approachable flavors in whiskies, especially bourbons. Off the top of my head I’d include Still Austin single barrels and picks, Ben Holladay, Nashville Barrel Co. single barrels, there’s a ton of stuff usually not the typical legacy distilleries. Cheers!
Hey Jonathan! That is a interesting blend as I never thought to blend Knob Creeks together. And that is some high proof blend 🤣. I'll need to try that myself! Hope you had a wonderful Mother's day weekend and cheers~
Hey Dean! It really is, scaling up any recipe is so hard to do and could imagine how many issues you run into when batching and blending whiskeys. Need to give these blenders their props! Hope you had a fantastic Mother's day weekend and cheers~
Hey Dave! I really do need to get a bottle of that JT Meleck but haven't been able to do to my allergic reaction to shipping fees 🤣. Maybe someday. Have a wonderful mother's day weekend and cheers~
Great challenge Really enjoyed your selections and the reasoning behind them. I love the Balvenie 14 yr. Balvenie just makes good whisky I just got back home today from a 10 day business trip to Seattle and had a friend gift me a bottle of K.Luke batch 2. He knew I really wanted to try K.Luke but almost impossible to get in New England. That Woodfords is just too much money for too little return for me. Shame they price it so high. Still Austin CS is fantastic and always get backups when I pick it up out of state
Hey John! K.Luke batch 2?? That's amazing!! I heard the earlier ones were awesome as it was a very small batch with less than a thousand bottles per batch 😆 Once you have a chance to have a pour, let me know how you like it! Hope you had a great Mother's day weekend and cheers~
I would say my most interesting bottle would probably be my Casa Fuente Rare Character. I like Arturo Fuente cigars and Rare Character whiskey. This was Casa Fuentes barrel pick only sold there. I traveled to FL from TX to get it.
Interesting bottles indeed David. I agree with you about shipping costs, I've only ordered once online, lovescotch has a free shipping periodically on orders $250+
Hey Andre! For some reason, when I see that shipping costs of $15 or $20... I remove from cart most of the time 🤣. It is an odd thing. Have a great mother's day weekend and cheers ~
Hey Greg! I kept thinking that when making the thumbnail but I decided...they started it so I don't think Kurt would mind 🤣. Maybe I'll change it if it gets too confusing. Have a great mother's day weekend and cheers ~
@@WhiskeyBank first, I want to commend your responsiveness! You always reply to the comments, unlike many other channels. One of the interesting whiskey bottles in my list is John J. Bowman Single Barrel. I like how complex this bottle is… On the notes, it carries its mother distillery profile, Buffalo Distillery. On the pallet, it reminds me of Knob Creek Single Barrel, and then on the finish it goes back to its origin, with a finish that is very similar to Eagle Rare for me. I drink my whiskey neat and one of my habits is to leave the glass when it’s empty and smell it the next day. Man, I get a lot of oak from the empty glass on the following day that reminds me of my childhood carpentry job with my grand father, his shop smelled very much like that old oak note that I’m getting from the glass, which takes me back to the mid 1980s! Thanks for asking, and you have a great mother day weekend as well!
@@Urban-Explorer365 wow! This makes me want to break out the JJB single barrel right now 😆. I'll have to have a pour tonight and leave it out to see how it is in the morning. Dark chocolate and coffee grinds finish? Probably my favorite note in any finish 😆 I need to go find myself one of those bottles!
