    Hi Clover! Thank you for the video.
    Recently, I find myself mimicking any voice I come across that sounds close to the me in the slightest. Some days I’ve found I’m practicing for hours. It’s almost like a game at this point. I’ve found that it adds a layer of fun to the whole process that is refreshing.
    This channel has been a game changer for me. I can’t thank the TVL community enough.

    due to living in FL I'm in the process of detransitioning (a long journey but one I've ultimately grown comfortable with. I know who I am and no one can take that from me and thats what matters) and so my voice is something I have been the most stressed about. That first mimic exercise literally put into context the FINAL piece I was trying to fix in my voice that no other video was able to do for whatever reason. Thank you so much, not the most ideal reason to need these videos but I'm grateful they exist

      @@idonated50jellybeanstothew56 Florida is deeply conservative, and so its growing increasingly unsafe for trans or gender-queer people to live here. They have also put restrictions on how to get access to hormones and overall general gender affirming care. So it's kind of like having multiple hurdles that you have to jump through, and if you do not have insurance then you're jumping while wearing crutches. There's a couple other nuanced things but these two are the main reasons why I mentioned living in FL

      I have a discouraging group of church friends that would say anything to make me stop.
      I know that my friends aren't hate mongers.
      But they don't understand how a brain can feel mismatched in the wrong body. They have gender brains that match their assigned gender,
      I used that terminology in 1988 before I ever heard it on TV

However, fakeness is much more complex and sometimes exists just due to new-ness with a skill. :)

  • @TaylorTheOtter
    @TaylorTheOtter 16 днів тому

    I'm having trouble controlling vocal weight and vocal resonance at the same time. I think this might be because I'm mixing up different uses of the word "resonance"? Because to me increased vocal weight like you demonstrated sounds like what my singing teacher would call a more resonant tone. In voice training, resonance is about the size of the resonating chamber and thus its resonant frequency. I always assumed that the singing definition and the voice training definition were related because the singing one just meant that you tuned your resonant chambers to match the pitch you're singing which makes it sound more resonant but I'm starting to think it might be more complicated than that? Can someone explain to me what the relationship between vocal weight and resonance are and how I can change them independently? I mean I have a lot of control over my resonance because I've done polyphonic singing in the past so controlling vocal weight is really my only obstacle at the moment.

      I'm new to this, but from what I've found it's about practice and strengthening the cords. That doesn't mean forcing it though - it's more about gently strengthening over time.
      The video on this channel called "Voice Feminization for ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS How to get started now" is really good. The current video we're replying on is like tips and tricks, verbally telling you ideas. The one I just mentioned has a bunch of exercises to get started with. I've found it super helpful already, hopefully you will too.
      There's at least 1 exercise in there about finding the point where it seems like you can't make a proper tone - it seems like you can't keep the tone because you're used to making it with a heavy "buzzy" sound. I'm not explaining it well... but watch that video from the beginning and try the practices in order! It's so useful.
      And also, top tip: if your voice starts to feel strained or painful, don't push it. I know it's tempting to keep practicing. But one day you'll be able to do it without discomfort at all. You don't wanna hurt yourself and have to wait several days before you can try again! (Speaking from experience... sounding deeper for a few days because I pushed too hard was NOT the plan lmao)

    • @vis7139
      @vis7139 Рік тому +2

      I think that may be because weight and pitch are really closely linked. You can have a higher pitch with a heavier weight, but a heavy weight can give the impression of a deeper pitch...
      I'm still new to voice practices, so for me I'm treating the light/heavy thing as a vocal exercise, and when talking I'm gonna try remove a lot of the weight

    This isn't about weight specifically, but i've struggled with this for months now. What to do if im activating unnecessary muscles for size change?
    I learnt it the wrong way, and before i could realize it, i had taught my brain thats how small sounds are done...
    I can't speak for more than 3 minutes without feeling this tugging at my larynx, so obviously it won't do, but honestly i don't know how to fix this.
    People are telling me to just try from the beginning and to go for a relaxed sound, but this feels very wishy washy in the air, and subjective... Because for me, anytime i speak its kinda effortful, any sound i make is effortful.

    Id say the lighter weight is sort of empty while the heavier weight sounds very buzzy 1:23

    my voice physically cant reach the higher resonance and its so frustrating I practice so often. These videos just don't help at all because when I try to follow along doing increments or something, there is a point where clover or zhea's voices go from obviously masc into unrecognizable fem but no matter what I do, my voice always sounds like a strained version of my regular voice :(

    God I really hope something from this video clicks because I've been told my voice sounds overfull but I have no idea how to change that...
    Ive also been told it sounds like I have some false fold stuff going on but I also have no idea how to change that. I've watched the videos on this stuff but I can either never mimic the sounds, or feel the physical sensations you're supposed to. That's been my ongoing problem with voice training, sometimes it really does feel like I can't do any of the exercises right...
    (Also god, from that video about overfull and underfull, I'm so jealous of your feminine voice...)

    the intro music is way too loud comparing at how loud Clover is speaking, can you please fix that in next video?

    I think I'm affecting vocal weight, I can get my voice sounding softer but staying the same volume, but idk if it really helps my voice sound any better? It just sounds like a fake voice... But now softer

    I'm working on feminizing my voice but I end up sounding nasal. I don't know how to get my voice out of my nose 😅
