I would love the water bottle system. I am 82 years old, very disorganized, and have attention deficit disorder. For almost a year now, I have found it nearly impossible to remember to stop what I"m doing in one room or another throughout the day and go to the kitchen ro take drinks of water. I was told that my muscle cramps are moat assuredly from dehydration. I thought how nice it would be to find some kind of a water "satchel" I could wear around the house and sip away as needed all day long. Lo and behold while searching for a "wearable water satchel," I came upon links featuring hydration bladders. Scrolling led me to your post, and it sounded exactly like what I need. I will try to figure out how to save contact info for your site so I can order one in the event I am not chosen to receive one. I am so glad I found this. I was afraid nothing like this existed and I"d have to dream up something by myself. I am more than glad I found this...I am ecstatic! THANK YOU for your post.
I am an old but determined hiker who realized that innovative gear will keep me on the trail much longer then I might have. Due to arthritic shoulders and limited reach to my water bottles, I created something similar to what Matt did but with much less success and more primitive. It worked marginally well. Matt refined this concept and I cant wait to get on the trail with this improved system. Thanks Matt.
You may not be interested, but this is absolutely what I’ve been dreaming of! I’ve cobbled together a number of different kludges no where near as elegant as this solution looks. I would love to win the water bottle system.
65 years old and have been car and canoe camping for over 45 years. Gonna bite the bullet and start solo backpacking. Mostly the Allegheny National Forest. Always watch your videos for the valuable info you supply.
I'm a older hiker so this would really save me some stress ..I'm a smart water bottle user .. This will change drinking bottles ..love it ..keep on keepin on..
Perfect timing! I have been looking looking at ways to combine a hydration tube with a bottle that is more secure. I would like the water bottle system, please. 😊
I like that water bottle system, Frozen. It would solve my under-hydration issues on trail while avoiding the whole sanitation routine that the bladder system requires.
I've been watching you for years, since your evolution from switching to hiking in Crocks to loosing your phone you've come a long way and I love your channel. I'd love the smart water bottle system! Happy Trails.
Gave up the bladder system a few years back. This is a great idea because I have problems reaching behind for my water bottle and losing my rhythm hiking. Hate getting left behind. Thanks for the opportunity. Either system would be ok. I hike with a nalgen in winter and water bottle the rest of the time.
I have bursitis in both shoulders from doing too many push-ups while I was in the Army years ago. That caused me to not be able to reach my packs side pockets for my water bottles. I would greatly appreciate the water bottle tube setup. Awesome videos by the way! Thanks!
I have been wanting to switch from the water bladder to just using the water bottle but have come across the same issues as you described. This would be perfect for this newbie on the trail. 😁
Cool find!!! Always stayed away from bladders due to refilling and cleaning issues, but the handsfree drinking always seemed like it would be nice. This gives you the best of both worlds. Get to keep the Smart water bottles and have hands free drinking. The water bottle system looks like a winner for me.
I have loved having the bladder because I know that 2.5 liters of water lasts me half a day hiking - I keep a separate bottle available for cooking, so it's only for drinking along the way. I grabbed an Osprey quick adapter that lets me click in the sawyer filter, and I can gravity filter from a CNOC bag into the bladder without taking it out of the pack. Still, having the water bottle adapter would be very handy for winter camping, as you pointed out. I appreciate you showing this option!
Smart water bottle - everything you said about the bladder is correct and I've been trying to figure out how to use the tube with a bottle - and there it is. Thanks!!! So glad I"met" you on the AT through hike - I have loved watching your videos since.
So awesome! Was just researching a way to solve this problem when someone sent me to this video. Looks perfect!!!! Would love to use this with my smart water bottles. Fingers crossed!
Nalgene adapter looks awesome. I have a couple my gf has a whole collection of them. You are right about the lid always hitting your face haha I cut the thing off
Thanks for the opportunity! I like these kind of informative vids with no “sales” agenda. I absolutely HATE bladders!!! This is a good viable option. I would like the water bottle version, however, if taken I could use the other. Good luck everyone 🍀
Love this idea! I would like the water bottle system. I'm a former bladder user myself. I never felt like I could get the bladder clean enough after a trip. I used to fill it with vinegar to try to kill any mold, mildew or bacteria growing while I stored the bladder🤷♂️
I would prefer the Waterbottle System because water bottles are accessible and lightweight. Water bottle also is a bit flexible when your pack is full. Nalgenes are great and durable however there's a bit of weight to it. - I hope I get one of these water bottle adapters haha. Love your Channel!
I bought the platypus hose and valve, then went to the hardware store and bought a rubber gasket that perfectly fit the outside diameter of the hose. My husband drilled a hole in my smartwater bottle tops and Gatorade bottle tops. I fit the gasket inside the hole then slide the hose into it. I had to wet the hose a bit to make it work. Its an east myog project. The gaskets have a flange so it sets securely into the waterbottle top.
The Water Bottle system seems to be perfect as I don't like the bladder system myself, it's a hassle. Hadn't seen these before until your video. Thanks for sharing!!!
Mr Frozen, I had given up on camping until I started watching your hammock videos. Now I can't camp enough. Tried making my own bottle - hose combo but couldn't keep it from leaking . I would love to have the smart water bottle system.
I'm sticking with a liter or two in my side pouches and a small bottle(s) bungeed to my shoulder straps. Thanks for the review though! Love that blue atmosphere!!
What an awesome idea. The smart water bottle cap is what I would use during the warmer time of the year. If I lose a smart water bottle some where, I am not out a ton of money and can buy a new one at every gas station out there. I don't take out an Nalgene if I don't have too.... aka freezing temps.
Pretty cool system. It is hard for me to get my bottle out of my side pockets so I have been looking for a solution. I think it’s my age and not my pack’s fault. lol Thanks for the great content on your channel. I have been enjoying watching your videos. I would love to have the bottle system.
I am very new to hiking and I came across your video on the water bottle system....love to know where to get one. I just bought an Osprey backpack and starting to get my accessories. The bladders I hear leak and take up space in your pack. This is a great system, thank you for the video.
I hike with a hydration reservoir, but I bought one of these recently in preparation for my first backpacking trip when I realized that refilling a reservoir on trail was not going to be fun. Like many others have mentioned, I have trouble reaching the side pockets with my pack on. I also hike with poles and it's a pain to have to deal with those while I'm fiddling with a bottle. Being able to sip out of a tube really helps me to stay hydrated without slowing me down too much. I've used it on 2 backpacking trips now, and I also use it for my morning walks on urban trails with my small backpack I bought probably 20 years ago (which had a reservoir, but it started leaking).
Always sound advice. Your channel was one of those I used when preparing for my 2021 AT thru hike. I usually carry two Smart Water bottles, one on chest and the other in pack side pouch. The Smart bottle system is just what I'm looking for to allow access to both bottles without having to take off my pack. Happy trail
Thanks Frozen! These types of reviews are helpful, especially love that you recommend things that may be of use to others despite maybe not using yourself. Very transparent.
I just got a Zpacks Arc Haul and it doesn’t have a sleeve or a ton of room for my bladder so I’m looking into other ways to store water. I’ve always hated the idea of reaching back for a smart water bottle but this takes care of that. Best of both worlds. Would love to try it out man.
Thanks for sharing the review with us, I would get so much use out of the water bottle system! I have yet to find a pack where I can reach the side pockets.
Just ordered one for my upcoming GDT hike. I have a bit of mobility issues in my shoulders and its very hard for me to reach back and get my bottle out or put it away and I usually don't drink enough on trail because of it. This is going to be a game changer for me. Thanks Frozen
I made a system like this a few years ago with a smart water bottle and Osprey quick-release connector and tubing. I’ve since switched back to just grabbing my water bottles from my pack’s side pockets
I have been hiking and camping for years but just did my first backpacking last summer. I was immediately hooked. Now I am learning and getting all the gear and this sounds great. I have used a bladder and agree it is difficult to tell how much is left. So I would love to win the one for water bottles. Thanks
Thank you for sharing! I use Smart Water bottles but my arms are too short to reach my pack side pockets. I also don't like the shoulder strap carriers and won't use a bladder b/c of the bacteria buildup. Thus, pack off every time I need to drink. This would be a perfect solution :)
Oh how interesting! I just switched to the water bladder system as I wasn't drinking enough with water bottles. Would be interested in the water bottle system.
Frozen, Thank you for the video!! I stopped using my water bladder system after 3 nights on the trail! I have been using a 48 oz Nalgene bottle and find it works wonderful for longer and multi-day trips. I would love to try the One Bottle system for a Nalgene water bottle. Thanks for all the great information you put out on your channel!
I installed a hose into a one pound peanut jar with a hole drilled into the lid and an O-ring to prevent leakage. I mounted it on my shoulder strap and took it on the AT from Amicalola Falls S.P. to Hot Springs last spring. I got the ultimate compliment from a random lady passing in the opposite direction in the Smokeys, when she told her friend "I gotta get me one o' them!" Little did she know that she would have to make one. My Sawyer Squeeze filter fit right into the hose. I used a 2 liter CNOC bladder to gravity filter water into the 26 fl. oz. bottle at water sources. I would fill the bottle, camel up, and carry a full bottle to the next water source. The real advantage over a bladder besides avoiding water leaking into my pack was that I could choose to guzzle water directly from the bottle if I took the lid off, which helped me get back on trail faster. Tinker, AT section hiker. Thanks, Frozen. Nice ready-made product. I skipped on the bite valve for more volume per draw, but you pointed out the drawback. When it was very full, it would drip on me.
Thank you Frozen for another excellent vid. I've been a follower from very early on. I never understood the attraction of the bladder system other than the water delivery component. This product solves that. I've used similar to great success but this product looks to be over much better quality. I'd be interested in the water bottle system. Thank you for the opportunity and the link.
That is interesting and a genius idea. The water bottle system looks like a better fit for me. Reaching for my water bottle is impossible. I have to remove my pack.
Just discovered your channel by watching your AT hike, then your Smoky Mountain/bears/snakes hike. Yikes! Husband and I planning to hike Section 5 of MTS. We are 63 and 65, so looking for all tips we can get. Really enjoying your videos.
Nice video Frozen I switched to a pouch on my strap and it is working out good for me. I ditched the bladder after my 3rd or 4th hike. Take Care hope the family is doing well.
Been a fan of your channel for awhile now and you’re vlogs have inspired me to attempt my first thru hike on the Foothills Trail in March. This type bottle system would be perfect for my little “T-Rex” arms. Thanks Frozen for always keeping your content informative.
That water bottle system looks pretty interesting to try. Haven't used a bladder in years and for many of the reasons you stated. 28mm bottles are easy to buy, use, and recycle.
Bladder vs bottles - it doesn't have to be an either/or question (unless you are a gram counter). I split my water, usually 80% bladder and 20% bottle. If I drink the bladder dry, I still have water til next source and can start conserving. At pack break spots with water sources, I drink from bottle and filter more, saving bladder for on trail. At camp, I cook from bottle avoiding purging bladder,
Hey frozen! Love your videos, I helped provide trail magic in New York for you and your tramily at the lemon squeeze trail during your Appalachian trail series. I would love the nalgene extension for my water bottle.
I switched the Nalgene stock lid with the Humangear top because I would rather drink than wear the water. This is a pretty genius adaptation. It would be a welcome addition to the Nalgene inventory I have accumulated through Scouts.

The water bottle system is what I like. Being able to replace the bottle itself on trail with a smart bottle is a plus.
I think anything that would keep my hands free is a plus- I would love the water bottle adapter. Thanks for the update
I have been using this for about 2 years and love it. Will never go back to the bladder.

Very interesting and practical. I don’t use the hoses anymore, but looks like a nice product.
So awesome! Was just researching a way to solve this problem when someone sent me to this video. Looks perfect!!!! Would love to use this with my smart water bottles. Fingers crossed!
Nalgene adapter looks awesome. I have a couple my gf has a whole collection of them. You are right about the lid always hitting your face haha I cut the thing off
Water Bottle system! I also ditched my hydration bladder for long hikes, for the same reasons you did! Looks pretty convenient!
What a great idea! Combining the best of both worlds. I'd like the water bottle system, please.

I have used a bladder and agree it is difficult to tell how much is left. So I would love to win the one for water bottles. Thanks
I would love to try the water bottle system it looks like something that would work well for me
Those lids remind me of the 3d printed bidet I got last summer. It screws onto a smart water bottle and is built well!
Dude that's one of the better systems ive seen. Thank you for sharing this find! id love to try it on a smart water bottle
Thank you for sharing! I use Smart Water bottles but my arms are too short to reach my pack side pockets. I also don't like the shoulder strap carriers and won't use a bladder b/c of the bacteria buildup. Thus, pack off every time I need to drink. This would be a perfect solution :)

The water bottle system is what I’d want to win. Perfect solution for those of us that can’t reach back to grab the bottle out of the pack pocket.
Love this Frozen!! We start the Appalachian Trail February 28th!
Perfect timing!!🥾🥾⛺️
Interesting product, I'd love the Nalgene system for my day hike pack and even my disc golf bag. Thanks for sharing!
Love to try the smart water bottle system. I have used hydration reservoirs too and agree with their drawbacks
Would love the water bottle system. Thanks for all your videos Frozen. Please keep it up.
Interesting product! Thanks for the review. I’d be interested in the water bottle setup.

We are. Thanks Warren!

“T-Rex” arms. Thanks Frozen for always keeping your content informative.
I like it, Frozen! I'd be interested in the water bottle system. Thx.
Thanks Frozen. I would be interested in the smart water bottle version

Hey frozen! Love your videos, I helped provide trail magic in New York for you and your tramily at the lemon squeeze trail during your Appalachian trail series. I would love the nalgene extension for my water bottle.
I would love to try the Water bottle system! Giveaways are so fun. Thanks frozen.
I switched the Nalgene stock lid with the Humangear top because I would rather drink than wear the water. This is a pretty genius adaptation. It would be a welcome addition to the Nalgene inventory I have accumulated through Scouts.
Awesome! I'd like to check out the water bottle system.
Great idea! Thanks for sharing. Water bottle system please.
Didn't know this existed. I would select the Nalgene version. Thanks Frozen!
Good review. I’m interested in the water bottle system.
Nice. One for a smart water bottle will be handy for my day hike pack which I have to take off every time I need a sip.
I just got into hiking a few months ago and found your page while trying to learn and do research. I've actually been watching your AT thru hike videos. I thought a hydration bladder would be great, but man are you correct about them being aggravating to clean and dry (I actually use a fish tank air pump and hose to dry mine) and that one fact has me thinking about swapping to plastic water bottles.
Love watching your videos. Great information. I would love the water bottle hydration system.
Awesome!! Water bottle system please. Thanks for the opportunity.
I would like the water bottle system. Looks interesting and I won't end up like a pretzel!!
I'd love to try out the water bottle system. Thanks for sharing about this product!
Awesome! I prefer the smart bottle version!
That would give me an excuse to start using a Nalgene again. I agree that it would be good for winter use.
Hey Frozen. Great Video. I am interested in the Water Bottle System. Thanks for everything
Very cool. Thanks for sharing !
I’d love to try the water bottle version
Thanks for sharing things you feel that other people would find useful. I would like to try the regular water bottle system if chosen!
I’d love to try out the Water Bottle System!
Keep rockin’ these great videos Frozen! We love watching your channel!
Frozen you are incredible! Keep up the great work, and that water bottle system looks super interesting!
the system for smart water bottles seems like a good idea, I usually take two smart bottles with me on a day hike and a combination of a Blatter with two litters and then the two bottles for longer trips. would love to try one of these for the smart bottles. stuck inside this weekend fighting a sinus infection and I am glad I happened on to this episode :)
