One of the main advantages of a split tailgate on a large car is that the hatch doesn’t stick out ridiculously far when it’s open. Overall I’m really liking these updates. My only criticism with the Navigator (and Expedition) is that they’re too slab sided. Flare the fenders, give it a stronger crease… something.

Good observation and I completely agree on the body lines/exterior. The split tailgate is fantastic on a full size SUV. It’s a little surprising that it took the big 3 (Ford, Chevy/GMC, Ram) this long to implement one but a welcome change for sure.

It's "ok" but I'll play devil's advocate here. Cadillac, in my opinion, has always and still does a much better job of stylistically setting the Escalade apart from its mainstream siblings. The Escalade's exterior styling just exudes cohesion. With this Navigator, the same issues still plague it imo. The Lincoln front with the Expedition sides look glued together with that black bar that just looks like an afterthought. The Aviator is beautiful. The Nautilus is beautiful. Both have unique styling and look nothing like their siblings, the Explorer and Escape. Those just "look" special. There is nothing special about the exterior of this Navigator. The interior on the other hand is extremely nice.

To me The previous body style still looks more aggressive and more stylish. in the interior, a style more familiar to what we are used to seeing, for example, in Hyundai or KIA, is depicted, with a single-faced instrument panel.
