Barbie movie was unintentionally an anti-feminist film. Ken was right!
The reason the Barbie movie did so well was because people did not caught on about the true nature of the film till the end when its true colors were shown.
I mean there is a reason why people began to feel and love Ken over Barbie. It’s because of that.
The trick might have worked once, but it’s not going to work for this snow brown movie because people are unto this trick and won’t fall for it again.

Actually, it was accidentally an anti-Feminist film by being very feminist--the Feminist movement has gone wildly off the rails, and become more about women who are very angry that men exist/they're not men, as far as I can tell. Ken, however, is pretty much a feminist...which should tell you a lot about the Feminist movement's opinion of actual feminists.
The script's been bouncing around Hollywood for long enough it might actually have had some of this be intentional originally, though.
No amount of reshoots will make us forget Rachel repeatedly bashing the OG film, even calling the prince a "stalker."

@@Leamichellefan2244 Yes. She has been remarkably quiet of late. Almost as if Disney have told her to say nothing and no promotion for the film till we say so. Then it will be tightly scripted. If they have half a brain..which I doubt. When the promotion for the finished film starts and she is out there on talk shows and interviews they are not going to have any control over her whatsoever. I expect she will be full on in the feminist angle once again and it will put a lot of people off even further...
Fun fact. It took just over a year to film the entire Lord of The Rings trilogy. This film has used more film than the greatest trilogy ever made

With all the reshoots and truck load of executives combing over it, it’s probably going to be just plain boring and bland in the end, not even worth to be hated. Honestly, I expect this movie to be a disappointment for everyone, the woksters, the anti-woke crowd, the UA-camrs, the modern audience and even the aliens from Alpha Centauri.

Rachel Zegler managed to become a hated actress, that’s why a lot of people clearly state that they will not even give the movie a chance as long as she is in it. Based on that, removing her would at least increase the chance that some people would check it out. Removing her does however not turn a bad movie into a good one, so yeah, as long as the movie is bad, removing her will not work to save this.
The issue is that a movie that got as expensive as Snow White would need every chance it gets, so starting with as much fan hate isn’t a good position at all.

No one wants that, people just want what they’ve gotten before, woman tries to kill stepdaughter, stepdaughter gets sent away, woman finds out that the guy she paid to kill stepdaughter didn’t kill step daughter, woman tries to finish the job and fails, stepdaughter meets a man and lives happily ever after. They had better do as close to a scene-by-scene remake of the original as possible or not even bother trying.

And if they do something new and add to it and change it so much, then its not really Snow White, and the original is still better. So bottom line is they should not have made this film at all, there was no point. As the original is still better.

Rachel is still black listed by the general audience who knows her story and her self-proclaimed "entitlement" and her views on Romance and the original story of Snow White. The strength of the box office will depend on those who have never watched any of the UA-cam videos of Rachel Zegler. I don't think they will make their money back on production.
I doubt that the general audience has her on its radar as much as you think. Her last movie did perform too good for that (no real success, but her first movie that didn’t utterly fail).
There is a big crowd that dislikes her, but it honestly didn’t reach the level of general audience.

@@bulldogsbob Yes but its Princess....Snow White is not really anything like Frozen. That is the film that has taken bank and run and run since it came out. Snow White is more of a folk tale of sorts and she ends up going off with the Prince at the end. She is not swanning about as a Princess for any part of the film. She is slumming it on the run in the woods and hiding out with the dwarves for all of it.
The thing with Snow White is back in the 40s people were talking about it. As it was unique, new and had never been done. Every frame of animation was a work of art. People fell in love with it for the magic of it and the dwarves etc. Kids of the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s and so on came to it new as a first experience of Disney and its animation. They thought it was stunning. As a kid myself in the 70s and 80s my Father took my brother and I to see Bambi at the cinema, and Pinoccio. All of those films were made before we were born, but re released decade after decade in cinemas for new generations to enjoy them. Of course back then we had no video, no streaming and the films were never on Tv at all. They were kept for Cinemas. It was not till the late 80s and early 90s that they released Snow White on video for the first time. And a big deal was made of it then and it sold like mad. Now the entire back catalogue is on streaming etc Disney+ and anyone can see it anytime they like.....No one is going to go ape over a bad version of Snow White this time around. As its been done. And done better in the original animation which anyone will have seen if they want to see it.
I'll watch this for Gal Gadot...when it's on Disney+ for free.

Captain Not-America and Snow Not-White combined will cost $1 billion with advertising. Think what could have been done with $1 billion as opposed to just two movies.
They will never tell us the real costs, but I would guess that the combined will ultimately exceed 1 billion. Way too many reshoots and the marketing budget will be very high in order to save face (they can hide those expenses more easily from investors). So yeah, wouldn’t be surprised if both movies end up above 500 million in total expenses.
Yes. All that money wasted. They could have bought a house for many hundreds of homeless people. They could have rebuilt all the damage caused by fires, earthquakes and such like in many places in the world. Its just barking mad what they have done. Taking all the money in from good projects over the years and then wasting in on just two terrible projects. Truly lunacy.
Think about this -- CA:BNW has a budget of $350-$375m (that they'll admit to...😏) ... let's add $100m in marketing to be hyper conservative. that's $450m. Let's assume they will get 75% of the box office world wide (also grotesquely optimistic). That movie needs to gross $600m in worldwide box office to break even. And that's with the friendliest numbers you can use.
Also ... not saying Marvel/Disney does... but many studios finance productions through short term loans ...meaning that even holding a finished film 'in the can' unreleased costs money in accruing interest. So just delaying a film can add cost.
These two film are all but guaranteed to lose money.

This show will make the Acolyte look like a work of genius in comparison. This movie will be the worst box office failure in film history, and we can all just sit back and laugh at it when it debuts.
If and when this damn thing comes out, Disney will be undeservedly fortunate if the final income matches the raw budget cost. The marketing and theatre percentages will be listed, as has been the standard for Disney over the last ten years, as a tax loss. This is one of those freak movie productions where the horror show behind "the making of" will be far more interesting (in a schadenfreude way) than what ended up being released.
Yes. At this point, they would need this film to be Frozen-level popular for it to make money. I don't see how this will have a hope of breaking even. I think their biggest win here would be to mitigate brand damage as much as possible.

I can buy the story of Mattel pushing back on Disney, especially since they were also the ones who produced the Lightyear toys and there are still piles and piles of unsold Lightyear merch at Ollies and in clearance bins two year later. They made so many toys of that shit in practically every conceivable formfactor, almost certainly losing their ass on the entire venture.
If they make it like it should be and have her as the actress I’m fine with it, because she’d have to play the part as written and she’d have to eat her words :)
Of course this movie is a financial blight. The sheer amount they've dumped on this to repeatedly make a terrible product that they KNEW no one wanted is staggering. Disney has demonstrated many times over now that they don't know how to make a movie anymore. Let's say this does make a billion dollars for arguments sake. They've dumped enough money into this that it's more comparable to or even in excess at this point of KK's Star Wars movies. On top of that, they still need to advertise it still so it can go into theaters. I would put money on that they literally can't make money on this movie. At best they're trying to lose less money at this point but all the same they're going to lose not just a staggering amount of money but the further loss in reputation is going to be more damaging.
Exactly. If they had a single brain cell they would have cut their loses and axed this film. Way back when Zeggler was mouthing off and the photo of the seven goons that were not dwarves was leaked. Thats when it should have been binned. But they want to prove they are right and the audience is wrong. They want to make people accept diversity no matter what. And so no cost is too high for them. Admitting they are wrong and have made a mistake is like trying to ski uphill. Its just impossible for them to do. So they will burn millions to make a small turd into a bigger turd and it will not make profit. The scale of the loss will depend on the spend. The more they waste the more it will lose at the box office.

I think both are in the situation where it's almost mathematically impossible for them to turn a profit. Both films were made; market tested, then essentially remade to some degree ... not just 'reshoots' but remade.
I think they're admitting that CA:BNW has a budget of $350m-$375m ... let's add $100m of marketing (which would be conservative). That's $450m. If they got a 75% average revenue split with all distributors (which is insanely optimistic for world wide) .... it needs to gross $600m world wide to break even. That would be a really lofty goal for a highly anticipated Marvel film at this point. I'm willing to bet this Snow White film isn't far off this situation either.

What was the audience for this? It seems assumed it was kids, but maybe it was millennials all along. Disney hasn't been kid-friendly in some time, millennials remember Disney animation's heyday and many are still fans.

The first re-shoot lasted 2 weeks the second re-shoot did not involve Zegler and the third re-shoot was 4 weeks.

So two weeks after releasing a show where Disney pretends that Ursula was a nice person all alng, they release a movie that states in the op9ening lines VERY SPECIFICALLY that Urusduala was a big bag sea-witch. Also, Descendants 4? The Rise of Red, has some major problerms, awful songs is one of them, but also the entire premise is that they need to keep a prank frm happening (which is never fully explained, what happened there), it was basically like that plotline from Harry Potter and the Cursed Child that folks hated so much, where Cedric Diggory became a Dark wizard because he is humiliated at the Twiard Tournament.
There were two good songs, or okay ones at least, the oen Red sings at the beginning, and then one her mother sings ALTHOUGH the secnd one is kind of ruined by the villains coming in with their own stanzas. Furthermore, it defies logic for Hades, Captain Hook, and Maleficent to be working together with a couple of other kids, I guess Gaston was the dude, I'm not sure, who stands guard outside. I mean Gaston will work with others but only as the LEADER, which in this case, he was not.
This was als a lazy way t do a Descendants movie, like all they had to do for new students were the main two, no allusion to any other Disney movies becasides the ones already covered. Like sure Encanto doesnt have a villain but it wouldv'e been interesting for them to acknolegde it, or Raya, or Tangled, or a whole bunch of stuff, but nope. nly the Evil Queen and Cinderella's daughters, oh and once again, they have decided that rmance is to be ignored EXCEPT when it comes to tradionally established couples.
Also, with this movie, Disney revealed their NEW agenda. Instead of making DEI the forefront, they will now be making the stupid case of morally gray this, and morally gray that. There is a show whi hvery much ecapsulates the eerasure of DEI n the forefrnt, Haileys ON It. DEI is still there, very much so. But they do one thing folks have said they should be doing for ages, treating the different races as people.
Contrast this with Molly McGee, where the DEI is stressed. In season two at least. Seasn one was better.

Disney would have been smarter to "fix" Snow White by REMOVING Rachel Ziegler ENTIRELY from the movie. They then could have had Gal Gadot play BOTH the parts of Snow White AND the Evil Queen!

To be brutally honest - I don’t care how many times they reshoot, I will not watch the movie if Rachel Ziegler is in the movie. Just because of her attitude and her comments. Clearly she is only there for the money and clout to further her career (before she destroyed it with her interviews).
Only a fool believed Chapek is responsible for where Disney was at. It was always Iger.
Chapek was never actually in charge. Iger was pulling his strings, and when he wasn't, he was hamstringing him. Nothing happened under Cheaphack's regime that Iger didn't make happen.
Why not create something new instead of reinventing German folklore? Or are they unable to make something creative themselves?

Woke PR disasters aside -- this is an excellent point -- because it's the same with Indy5 and CapAm:BNW. They're paying to make these big films. Paying to reshoot/remake/ re-CGI them. Paying to Market them. Paying distributor splits with theatres. These films are left needing to gross like $400-600m world wide to break even! disastrous way to do business.
Furthermore, I thought these studios take short term loans for the liquidity to make the films .... so simply holding on to a finished film in the can costs you money in accrued interest. Just delaying a major film costs additional money.

This movie takes place one year after she married Prince Charming. Snow White is putting together a Mardi Gras, errr a Solstice Party, and needs your help to find 7 dwarves….ummm independent contractors to build a set at her co-op salt mine (we already did that?!) , okay Garden Party. and needs a special spice (not Florida Man Bath Salts) for the party. Whew! A brand new original Disney idea.

I’m very curious as to how they’ll separate the peanuts from the poo or vice versa and try to convince us it’s ’good for us’.
It doesn’t really matter what they do and I hope they release the sensitive files that were allegedly hacked from Disney.
I don't think the people who thought Shrew White would be a financial success have the wherewithal to make the changes needed to at least hoodwink audiences into going and being let down. Unless they took it out of the hands of those responsible for the "Weird, weird" marketing, I can't see this succeeding, and even if they put someone new at the helm, this being Disney, I struggle to believe they would be allowed to make all the necessary changes.
just one more year of production and they will match the length of time it took to produce the original Snow White. and it was completely hand drawn.
