Another awesome video as usual dude. And you should do more theory/lesson based videos, I know there's is a million lesson vids on UA-cam, but its awesome how you always link the theory information you give to doom.
Holy shit this just helped make so much fucking sense for me. I've been playing major/minor pentatonic /blues cscales for years and knew to look for the same notes across the guitar but didnt understand how to measure the inbetween, I have a map now. thanks dude!
Hey Steve! That moment half way through this video, the realization of how all this works. My brain has exploded. Also when did First Act guitars kick ass
Glad you enjoyed it. That guitar is a rare First Act Custom Shop DC-6. They are next to impossible to find, but checkout the Woodrite Warlord for something similar. doesitdoom.com/product/warlord
I know learning theory can only help but when has anyone, ever in the history of fuzz and doom said "I think that guy hit a wrong note". If you can hear "a wrong note" through a Sunn Beta lead on full blast with a fuzz your a better man than me! And let's be honest. 90% of us are tuned down and using one finger. Lol
@@NobodyNewsNetwork For everything other than the B, the shapes are the same. If it's a drop tuning (the top string is an additional step lower, the shape will move 2 frets up the neck on that string.
One question...... these chords existing of a root and another interval but a fifth are still called powerchords? I really like the root/third combination, because of its disonance. By the way, great video. Thank you very much, Steve.
Totally adore the Guitar he is holding anything that resembles that awesome SG-Like Double Cutaway style on Ebony is just my DOOM'BLACKMETAL love ALSO Adore sir Iommi looking guy logo got to be him?
clicked thinking it would fly over my head, but this helped me understand the concepts better than 10 years of trying to figure it out myself and 7 more years on UA-cam casually trying to learn. the big issue being, guitar time and youtube time are usually separate and much of the information is lost to the time between the two. However I came away from this with instant understanding and can dissect a lot of the techniques I've been using lately in my head. Thank you.
@@DoesItDoom more of this and I'll be hitting that bell bro. I play primarily deathcore, so knowing how to explain and understand a 4# diad and triad(which a assume adds a root or another note of a scale) is awesome. maybe a video about diads/triads or arpeggios vs scales etc. break it down like this and explain.
Found your channel, bought an SF300 fuzz, down tuned to b and C# standard, and about the shit out my theistic neighbors. ....Haven’t dyed my hair yet tho...These videos are killer man.
I'm new to the genre and love it. But I come from playing 50s-70s classic rock, and 50s-80s country stuff. For you guys that don't know country stuff is harder than any genre I've tried. I grew up on old country and bluegrass. If you can't put this to spective or understand it. Choose a different instrument. 80% of this genre is finding your tone. The rest is groove. Take some time slow down, and use your Brain. If that don't work. This prob is not for you.
Does it Doom? Yes it does Have some Dread? First fret does. Wish I didn't have the attention span of a damaged squirrel. Root blah blah blahhhh 1 2 3 4 roots
i dont really see much point in a lot of theory... it's kinda just giving technical names to stuff... just play what sounds 'right' and use fret numbers to tell your bass player what to do lol
Theory is good. It can make writing songs a lot easier, but there are certain people who only push theory, and it can restrict you to a very small box if you are not that very innovative. The best thing to do is just do whatever makes you comfortable, and whatever makes you write the best songs, everyone is different when it comes to creating and learning
With all due respect, but thats so verrry basic, and I would expect any and all guitarrists to know that (and much more). TBH, thats the kind of thing that separates guitar owners from musicians. Music theory IS important, I just didn't expect to see this one here, LOL.

As a bass player, i find the root, stay with the drums and riff at a tastful moment. Its all about were you land, for me.

The wrong notes are the ones that sound best. Knowing a bit about scales and intervals will help you find them and hit them more frequently. :)
@@DoesItDoom Ha! Can you do one of these for drop b? (B f# b e g# c#)

ahhhh so it's like x, y coordinates! so why did they settle on 1/2 and whole steps and not 1/4? ohhh what if you had twice the frets??
Just go fretless.

does this apply to c# standard tuning

my theory is, play a note and then play the note that sounds even heavier
