The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

It is a blessing to have dear Sophie Tucker on camera singing this song. Certainly wasn't guaranteed to have happened! Marvellous.

Another great clip from the special episode, "A Night at Sophie Tucker's House". I was hoping we would get to see her perform her signature song from this show, so thank you so much, Ed Sullivan channel! As Sophie mentioned, as well as commenter Michael, it's really rare to hear the introduction verse. What a historic performance!

They sure don’t make them as classy as Sophie Tucker any more!

I love these historically significant videos. Here we see the legendary Sophie Tucker performing her signature song ... a song that she first recorded in 1910! As stated, this was one of the rare times that she included the chorus. This one gave me chills. Great stuff!

We are talking vaudeville days and ragtime.

@@Dobie_Gillis Those were the days when my grandparents lived. I wish I could travel in a time warp... just to see what they experienced. I know that's not possible, but it sure is wonderful to think about it. I love to look at old pictures that people have,, or look books of how it was in those days! Thank you for sharing! 💖

@@Dobie_Gillis Yes, and the early days of recordings. I'm pretty sure that her first recording of _Some of These Days_ was on a wax cylinder!

@@that70sgirl90 Yeah, I can't help being curious about life in past decades either, though I'm pretty certain that I'm better of with my romanticized concepts of bygone days. Did you ever see the Twilight Zone episode _Once Upon a Time?_ It deals with just that premise...

I Love her too !! 🥰 "You're Gonna Miss Me Honey !" She is just Incredible!! Of course, today you posted at 2:00. It's 67° here, I decided to go to the park. I had to jump off my Pokemon GO game... to see this! This will certainly make my walk more enjoyable!

This is great, but why not share Bill Kenny & The Ink Spots' performances from this episode? Really hoping to see some Ink Spots.

I would love to see the Ink Spots on the Sullivan show too. None of their performances from the show have ever been released.

@@TomElvisSmith Thats true. I have a clip from Bill Kenny on the show from the late 50s as well as some other solo Kenny audio from the show but The Ink Spots stuff is very rare. Historic Films had it to purchase I believe they told me for $10,000 or something wild like that.

@@AustinCasey Hopefully they will show up on this channel someday. I'd love to see the Ink Spots sing "If I Didn't Care", "With My Eyes Wide Open, I'm Dreaming" and others on the Sullivan show.
