Hi Dan, I just subscribed today. I like the fact not only you talk about a particular subject, you really do it methodically to back it up. I’d like to put on a request for a video clip about your potting mix please. Keep up the good work.
So Dan would you say its not necessary to grow the 3 similar figs you mentioned? Blk. Tuscan, Preto, BMKk If they look and taste very similar, Im trying to justify having all 3 in my collection. I guess as long as I have room I will keep them, but as I am quickly running out of space, I am trying to cut some of the similar varieties. Thanks for the great review
That might be true however you can't know if one grows better for you or you prefer the taste to without growing them all and trying them in your location climate and how you grow them. For me growing in pots the albino figs always lack the vigor and aggressive growth that the dark skinned figs seem to do. So if I had choose between white or black versions of the same fig its always the dark based on vigorous growth for propagation and productivity for me growing in pots. My white maderia and cdd blancs growing in pots just dont grow as well or as quickly or are as productive for me.
@@gofigure4920 some figs grow better in warmer or cooler climates. All I'm saying is its fine to work down to what you like best. But, its hard to tell which does as well for you without growing them all. I've had a few black maderia and preto trees not do as well in the past. I think there healthier specimens than others. Changing how much direct sun on my trees can have a big impact as well being so hot and dry especially when the trees are still younger.
@@gofigure4920 I would search the fig forums like ourfigs.com. Dan has more experience with Black Tuscan then anyone i know. He also is growing them side by side in his climate. I think more importantly we need to research what growers are finding more success in their particular climate. Everything does well in CA. Dan does very well in MI. I'm in very hot and dry NV desert. So I have to compensate for extreme exposure as well as very hot dry conditions. For me SIPS do well with covering the pots. I still had a less successful growing season this year do to record heat and the driest monsoon season.
Subscribed today, enjoyed you and Shawna's visit today
Very cool. You found me!!! And to think you’re right around the corner practically.

Stela G: I would say if you're limited on space, you only need one of the three.

Is there a difference between black Madeira and black Madeira kk?
Yes. Black Madeira KK has two extra letters after Madeira.
@@danfoster25 I figured that. What is the difference between them beside kk?
@@kjaan I don’t believe there is a difference.
