What a BEAUTIFUL trichocentrum! Agree with you that is a lovely flower. I have mine potted in Australian tree fern bark. It is doing very well. I grow Cochleanthes. It does very well in Florida. Rewards with flowers often through the growing season. I grow mine in a mixed organic medium in shade. Enjoyed your video. Thanks for the update.

@@orchidhouse Olivier, I have a Coryanthes macrocorys "May" which I need to repot. It has been growing for the past year in sphagnum. (This is the way it came from the nursery.) I would like to repot it in something other than sphagnum. Any suggestions? I have lava rock, mixed organic medium and Australian tree fern. Which would be the best choice? Prefer clear plastic or the net pots? Thanks for your help.
@@patsfreund9164 Coryanthes is the only genus in the Stanhopea alliance that I have not tried yet.
I believe that sphagnum moss is very good for them but you can add charcoal and perlite if you are wary of how moist SM is. Lava rock is way too dry. These are moisture loving plants. Net pots are necessary for these as their spikes will come for all sides.

You grow beautifully mounted plants and you give excellent growing experience advice! I personally glean a lot of pleasure in finding the perfect piece of wood or cork or even basket to match the orchid. I would love to see a video about your thought process. Have you ever tried catasetums outside of a pot?

The trial of mounted catasetums is not very convincing. They need way too much water during the growing season. It is hard to provide on a mount

How do you water and feed ALL of your plant ,what kind of water do you use ---if you have a mister do you use anti fungal liquid in .and for each plant please tell us the media. your porch aria what direction does it face .It is on another of your videos love your plants!
No "one size fits all".....
I use rain water (pure from a rain barrel) that I handspray every morning on some "important plants", mostly mounted. The rest gets watered with a hose (tap water) by hand. Sprinklers come on twice a week (in summer) and much less in winter. Some plants get watered every day, some once a week, some not a all during dormancy whcih can last months (catasetums, Dendrobium lindleyi etc..).
Anti fungal treatment is done preventatively and individually. Once a plant stops flowering, I set it aside, groom it and spray for fungal issues, diseases and pests. So most plants get this once or twice a year.
Feeding is done mostly on Sunday morning and I alternate different types of fertilizers. Over the winter, I may skip fertilizing if temperatures are low. Catasetums get fertilized several times a week over the summer and Vandas and Stanhopeas and Paraphalaenopsis get fertilized 2 or 3 times per week in summer. Every time, I use a weak dose of fertilizer.
My porch faces E/SE which is ideal where I live.
