You're so right.. Buying/collecting orchids suitable for your growing conditions will save you a great deal of heartache and frustration. I've resigned myself to admiring and enjoying the ones unsuitable for my conditions at the shows and in my online community! 😄 Observation has been a lifesaver for me on my very steep learning curve re getting the watering right and situating them for the best balance of light, humidity and air movement. So yes.. I agree with you on all these points. Good to see you again.. it's been a while😊 Very encouraging as usual!
Thank you very much! YES: OBSERVATION is critical when you grow orchids, and especially when you learn to grow them ....and it is a steep learning curve for any good orchid grower...these girls are finicky lol. Good to hear from you.
More like this!!! While I love focusing on individual orchids general overviews are great. I didn’t realize how much food catasetum needed. I never thought to feel for plumpness. Please share this overarching wisdom. This are fantastic. Dave from Sarasota.
Great discussion. And you have a beautiful orchid display/growing setup. I'd love to see a video where you walk around your orchid growing area and talk about the logic/ideas of how you designed it - might give your viewers some great ideas to try (it would do that for me ❤). I love to see how other people organize their orchid growing spaces. Thank you for your videos. Always great.
Thank you. I have a video where I give ideas on how to and where to hang mounted orchids. It gives you a pretty good idea of my growing area. Besides this, it is a constant work in progress and changes continuously. ua-cam.com/video/56rHbH1T81Q/v-deo.html
When it comes to feeding the orchids, I do the same I alternate between 2 fertilizer every month, even/odds. Your patio really changed Olivier. Really nice.
Excellent explanation of the four factors to keep in mind for orchid care. Your videos present useful information for novice and experienced Do you have any knowledge to share about Sobennikoffia robusta? I have one that is growing in a small plastic Vanda basket with large chunks of charcoal. It is in a shaded lanai. The orchid is looking a bit dehydrated to me. Am I growing it in the proper medium? Read online that some grow it in shallow pots of horticultural pumice. What do you think?
