@@getme8611 I wonder too. Less workforce means less costumers, and for many corporations that should turn into less income. I think the demand for goods and services won't disappear any time soon though. This scenario may change the day AI comes into power. Meanwhile social inequality will increase as well as unemployment and discontent making developed countries quite unstable.

One thing i noticed very clearly while growing up was the automation of customer support. I remember less than 15 years ago when everything was done by people, then i remember the very robotic voices asking for you to press numbers, and now they ask you yes or no questions with almost perfect human voices and trying speak im a natural way. Once a bank called my home number by mistake amd the almost humam voice asked if i was the person they wanted, yes or no, and i forgot i was talking to a computer and i automatically said "there is no one here with this name" and they answered in their almost natural voice "oh ok, sorry for the mistake. Please disregard this call. Have a nice day"

We said the same things when the steam engine first appeared. No one can imagine living without electricity either. Repetitive, simple jobs that require a lot of strength will be taken by robots. There will be an initial wave of unemployment, but that wave will soon drop as humans adapt and new jobs pop up as demand for the production of these robots increase. Computer scientists and mechanical engineers will be way more common. Robots will never achieve the free will to program themselves. They may imitate emotion or human features to absolute perfection, but they'll never have it. There is always something better than something. A creative mind will be determines to make that even if it takes decades. Possibly centuries or even millenia later robots will be replaced and humans will say the same things like now.

Those who aren't programmers, or are in control of programmers, have inherent disadvantage in determining decision making processes in machines.
Anyone who doesn't recognize and is oblivious to this has the potential to be cheated, because the power and sophistication of our machines will out-compete humans to degrees we can't currently fully comprehend.
If you want to be involved in the decision making process of our machines, I'd advise you rethink your mentality about "not wanting to be a programmer."

Robots have replaced human work force in so many fields already. It is a bit worrying tbh and I don't understand why so many people can't see it yet. Demand for human workforce already went down dramatically in factories, stores, banks and other sectors are there to follow. In banking in UK for example many people lost jobs as self service stations and online banking got introduced.

It's great to have robots taking over the jobs ..but not if it means the people still left WITH jobs have to work just as long and as hard as ever while the rest are unemployed..It must be made financially worthwhile for people to start sharing the jobs left and working LESS. There can be no such thing as a shortage of jobs..there can only be a shortage of people sharing the work. There could still be full employment even if we only had to work one day a month because so many jobs have been taken over by robots once we escape the stupid notion that we must work around 40 hours a week.

A world without the peruse of having to work to make income will be meaningless. A world without jobs and a simple and equal universal income for everyone would make life even less meaningful as the hierarchy will cease to exist. most peoples meaning in life is purpose driven, no one would ever be able to climb the hierarchy and strive for a better and happier life. If you take away the the meaning in lige there will only be the suffering left. Not only that, it would also increase obesity and many mental health issues such as depression. In combination with all of this, suicides would skyrocket and become the number 1 cause of death. In the end human overpopulation will become the opposite as the fertility rate will keep getting lower and lower untill no human will ever be born again

Machines, will never be intelligent. They may imitate human features to perfection, maybe even IMITATE emotions for the sake of the owner, but they will never have free will or emotion. There is no reason to add a code to robots to give them independent thinking. Robots don't complain, don't make mistakes, require less sustenance, why would we give them free will and emotion. Human emotions always screw things over.

Why in the world can't we just let the bots take over the workforce and let people go back to school or we could all just learn to live with less stuff aka junk and start to reconnect with other human beings and volunteer YES volunteer our time to help improve the lives of others around us. We would no longer work because we NEED to but because we would actually WANT to because it would feel good knowing that we aren't just working to produce an unnecessary amount of wealth for a single person or family/group but instead to support others. We could pressure higher education. It would be a dream come true but...NO we can't have it because some asshole wants to have a big mansion with a yacht and a super fast car along with 10 to 20 other super fast cars and he also wants a private jet case he can't be bothered to set next to another person.
