This is the best video on cuff sizing I've seen so far. I get the feeling that the cuff size is so important for the proper length of artery being closed. So I can also see where proper placement of cuff is extremely important as well closing the proper length of artery for an accurate reading.
The t.co/GsO1JmyXtf has allowed me to to cut back my blood pressure level (accurately 20-point cut) for 2 weeks only of utilizing it. Even so, you will need to exercise for about THIRTY-FIVE minutes daily. All round, I find myself far healthier ever since my blood pressure is no more than my normal.. .
I bought 2 cuffs as I'm tall & very thin. The paediatric cuff is for a 18.4 to 26.7cm arm & the adult regular cuff is for a 29-42cm arm. My bicep diameter is 26cm. I thought the paed cuff would be better but then bladder is about 50% circumference - so way off the 80-100% it should be. The adult cuff however is about 110% so overlapping. I get 110/70 with the adult cuff & 140/92 with the paed cuffs (Korotkoff stages 1 & 5 respectively). The results are consistent with both. I'm not sure which to believe!! (This is a manual syphygmomanometer paired with a good stethescope - am an RN).
Lol, just checked with my smart watch which has BP measuring capabilities (which I would consider to be gimmicky & not to be relied on). Getting 116/81 on my watch, so between the two above cufs. Amazing the variance & shows just how much selecting an appropriate cuff matters eh?
I've noticed a 20 - 30 point differnece between these to cuffs. Im skinny and tall and my doctors always tell me I need blood pressure medication. 160/107..... then I use the larger cuff and its 135/89... why are so many doctors money hungry?
You stated you're skinny, why would you use a larger cuff if your arm circumference is smaller? If the cuff is too large for your arm, you're going to get a lower blood pressure, which is what you ended up with and is a false reading.

@@GOOKlES because the length reads the waveform functions not the bladder,
Ur situation is the scenerio that one of the viewers asked the young woman and she did indeed say to go with larger cuff. So ur right.
