Y'all know I tend to be super organized so of course after lists and research and recalling what I have done in the past, I put together my hospital bag nice and early so I am ready whenever this baby decides to be born :) In this video, I go through my hospital bag with you item by item as well as discuss a few items I am not bringing, and what I will add last minute. Thank you for watching while I show you what is in my hospital bag as I prep for baby number 4 as an Orthodox Jew!

I know it Sounds monk like, but even in the Hospital I prefer cleaning the bathroom with my wipes before using it...
Make sure that your phone cord is a long one to reach the hospital bed. Isn't it fun and special that you have so many others praying and cheering you on?! 🤗😍
You're not missing anything; as long as your 3 older 'bunny's' are taken care of when you must go, and your husband is there to support you, you and 'little bunny' will be just fine I am sure! Praying that labor is going to be smooth and easy 💞
I have only recently discovered your channel and I am loving your content.
The one thing I always recommend, as silly as it sounds, is taking your own toilet paper! I don't know what it is like over there, but in Australian hospitals the toilet paper is like 1 ply waterproof sandpaper 😂. After the amazing job it does, that area deserves some compassion post-birth!

Countdown to baby Firefly! I am so excited and happy for you. As a mother of grown children that live 3000 miles away, I love to watch and reminisce about my own time as a mother. Smart to bring all the toiletries!! Yes, they may have them for you, but a lot of hospitals are charging for stuff like that, and at high prices too! A lot of moms are even bringing their own Tylenol for that reason, because the hospital charge is outrageous for it.
So much more enjoyable to have babies in Eretz Israel,should be a Sha ah Tovah but don't envy you there.
Fellow long laborer here! I went into labor with my daughter at 4 p.m. on a Thursday and she was born at 1 p.m. on a Monday! Only the last six hours of labor were in the hospital so I did eat, and the midwives at my hospital sent me home about 12 hours before she was born with instructions to eat AND have a glass of wine, lol! I was in too much pain to do either at that point. But snacks were so key post-labor regardless, because I gave birth during lunch and didn't get a meal for several hours after. Re: hospital gown, totally agree, plus the hospital ones are so soft because they've been washed so many times! A new one would not be as soft. GOOD LUCK with your labor, hope everything goes as smoothly as possible.

Love to see someone not packing so much they need a trailer to get to the hospital. The extras are just something else to worry about. Same as when setting up a nursery - babies don't need every single thing that is about nowadays. Exciting times ahead. Love from Australia.
I love the chocolate idea! I learned the first time around that I get incredibly warm during labour. I am bringing my portable stroller fan with me this time around.
A fan is a good idea! I have a small fan I may add if my doula doesn’t bring one.
I'm an RN and I used the alcohol wipe trick on my nauseous patients in the hospital. :D Good for you! Thinking of you! Good luck when the time comes. :)
I’m a retired nurse and I’ve used the alcohol wipe many times
RN here too. During my pregnancy I accidentally discovered an ice pack over my stomach (the organ) helped. It has helped many of my patients as well.

Hello Chana, it’s getting close! This episode is making all your followers think about their own ‘baby stories’. I had a 24hr labour and a 12hr one. I pray yours is shorter and you have a good rest before you begin. I’m sure the whole family must be getting excited. Daddy Firefly is going to be busy! I’m sure he’ll keep you well fed in hospital 🙂

I never had my bag packed until the doctor told me to go to hospital. Then, I did it very quickly indeed.
I hate to say it, but I had very short labours - too short. Trust me when I say that a very short labour can be traumatic! I think a labour should be like a mini-lifetime with a beginning, a middle and an end, but mine where just too fast! Even my first baby only took about 4 hours, most of which I slept through. Then 2.5 hours from cold-start induction for the next two. For number 4, I prayed for a 4.5 hour labour and that is exactly what I had. (Another cold-start induction.) I know it is hard for people who have long labours to comprehend that quick birth can be traumatic, but it can be - you are just settling into managing contractions and boom - the baby’s there!

If your husband is going to be able to stay with you during your labor, and possibly during recovery, remind him to pack some essentials for himself. And depending on your feelings about pacifiers, you may want to bring one. On that same note, I was a neonatal nurse, and it was always great if the mom would let me know if she didn't want the baby to use a pacifier, so I that could put a note on the bassinet just to let other staff know. And don't forget the car-seat. Looking forward to Baby Firefly's arrival!

It’s smart to take your own tissues. When I was in the hospital a few weeks ago, the tissues they provided in the little boxes were just pathetic. I bet the baby will keep you busy while you’re in the hospital since you will need something to do! Sending you prayers for a safe labor and delivery and a healthy baby.

In my hospital bag, I had some nail clippers since hang nails drive me nuts and came in handy as my son was born with super long finger nails. Sending good vibes for a safe delivery!! Hi Chana! Great tip about the alcohol! Surprised that there isn't a kosher food option tho. Great idea to bring your snacks and munchies, and of course your books. I found lemon juice has a similar effect with morning sickness
Oh Chana, I'm so excited for you all. In the UK we don't get such luxuries as tissues any more lol, I usually take my own in anyway. When my son was born nearly 40 years (and I'm only 35), some of the staff were on strike so Duncan was wrapped in towels - till I got some blankets brought in and my mum, dad and sister brought nice things to eat. His father didn't, but that summed him up nicely lol. Anyway Mazel Tov and I will be keeping you in my thoughts. Stay safe and I hope for an easy labour for you x.
Oh wow! Here there is so much competition between hospitals because we have so many, so I think that’s why so much is provided. Also our hospitals are mainly private, not government. I think in the UK it’s more government?

I am hoping for a short labor for you! My longest was 4 hours and shortest was 2 so I was fortunate . Hoping for that for you 💐 can’t wait to see ( sort of) beautiful baby number 4
Wow that’s short! My labors are all very long like between 24 and 70+ hours 🤣

@@diannewigger2953 I’ve had fast labors with no breaks in contractions and longer labors with nice breaks in between contractions. Those hard, fast labors are really tough! I liked having the breaks in between! Even if it takes a little longer.
@@karenjohnson5634 I agree ! I remember saying I wanted to stop and come back the next day🙄 . Not sure why I had sure labors but kind of glad those days are past ! ( now I’m a grandmother )
Another option for nausea is peppermint/ peppermint essential oil. You can breathe or put it on pressure points.

I bought an inexpensive hospital gown and really like it. I found it at a thrift store. It was black so I wasn't worried about anything getting on it, and after getting home I could use it as a nursing might gown. I also love having Depends, or something similar. This last time I used an organic brand and they worked just as well.

I've been watching your videos and am so interested in your life as an Orthodox Jewish mum of three soon to be four. You look so happy and content. I really enjoyed the Q and A with your husband. Who are now 19 and 23. Wow your long labours. Mine were 4 hours and 6 hours. That was long enough for me. You are a lovely, positive woman. Can't wait for videos about baby number 4.

one great thing that i always bring to the hospital is a nursing bib/cape. they have ones with an opening on top so you can see the baby as you nurse, but it gives you privacy while nursing. and also a nursing bra!

I forgot to tell you how absolutely cute that baby outfit was. Love those bunnies. Wherever did you find them. I'm close to all my brothers children and some are still having babies. And great auntie Jen gets to spoil them with fun things. I get them things for Christmas and then I get them stuff they can have fun with during the summer. I say stuff because I never know what they might like and it changes each year. This year everybody wanted wet water toys outdoor fun stuff. So that's what they got. But when they have their new babies I buy them whatever I want as I tell them I didn't get to have babies so this is how I get to live vicariously through you. LOL Auntie Jen gets to buy a few things that she really thinks are adorable. They have lots of people to buy them whatever they want. God has been so good to me and our family I can only be grateful for an opportunities to enjoy this life.

Hi, Chana! Well, there is always something that makes me smile, and this time it was the chapstick! I, too, am never without my chapstick, and am teased relentlessly about it by my family- all in good fun, of course. The only thing you didn't mention, unless I missed it, was some sort of feminine protection. I found the pads provided in the hospital to be woefully inadequate, and actually invested in a package of Poise pads, which are larger, and which I found to be very comfortable, and totally equal to the job! Here we have to bring everything for mothers and babies. Maternity hospitals provide patient meals and infant formula (if required) and that’s about it. My hospital bags were mostly full of teeny baby outfits and accessories!!

Practical=experienced. By the time I had my twins (#5 & 6) I had what I needed in my bag down, the kinds of clothes (gowns, gowns & more gowns) I wanted for my kids for the first months when feeding and changing were my primary tasks with sleep thrown in whenever I could. Praying for a safe delivery and a healthy baby.
Watching your video made me remember my times getting ready for the hospital, to have my three children. I felt the same as you about needing snacks, and chocolate is always welcome! I remember especially after having my second baby being so hungry. He weighed 9lbs. 1oz, and during my pregnancy, it was hard to eat much at any time because my insides were so crowded. I also always felt, as you do, that the baby should come when it's ready, no need to mess with nature. I hope this labor will be shorter for you. I don't know how you got through such long ones! Chana, you give so much love to us all that we are all waiting and excited for your family! It's been a Very long time since I've given birth (my youngest is 29) but I do remember taking an extra pillow because it was very hard to get a second in our hospital. I do remember also taking a washcloth in case I needed to wet/wipe my face during labor. As far as I know (from my children giving birth now) we are not given toiletries in the hospital after birth. We bring it all. But we do have Kosher food!! (Israel !). I would try to pack my bag at least 3 weeks before I was due. Rest up and Thanks for sharing with us!

This may sound greedy but...a friend told me to make sure I take everything , all supplies , in your hospital room. All those things are yours, you paid for them. I had a nice sitz bath, not sure the spelling, diapers, hand cream etc... I am so excited for you all and hope everything goes smoothly.

Can't imagine such long labour's.. you are awesome. My two had very short labour's just over 3 hours and my second was born 20 minutes after I woke up....panting in the car just made it to the delivery room...tooo fast, body went into a bit of shock. Praying everything goes smoothly for you

I brought a target button up nightgown and (after washing it thoroughly) wore it every day for the next 3 months 😂 great for feeding also. We brought a power strip and a super long phone charger in case the outlet wasn’t close to the bed, which was a lifesaver

Your video brought back memories of so long ago. May The Lord protect you and your baby and bless both of you with good health. I just remembered my grandmother sent me a nice nightgown with a light matching robe. I used that in the hospital after delivery once I was out of the hospital gown. I got a lot of compliments on the nightgown.

Olive oil for the baby's bottom. Apply preemptively to keep the meconium poops from sticking...

The hospitals in the US didn't give us anything, but after our first girl struggled with ABO incompatibility-related jaundice and was under the lights without a diaper, we learned just how much trouble meconium poop could be! I used olive oil with #3-4. Gentle, and resulted in a much easier clean up! It took a few cotton balls and about a tablespoon of oil for a 48 hour stay.
