I use to be scared of being alone but 4 years ago I got hiv from having a little to much fun with drinking and women. I became a hermit due to bad experiences being judged and it hurt. I only come out my house to go to work where I work alone at nights. Somedays I don't talk but when I do I can't stop but this video has me regretting so much. I wish I had the courage to look past the stigma and get out there again.

A year now I’m away from home living and working in another country far away and I am truly experiencing discomfort. Loneliness is hard and the truth is,wherever you go there’s nowhere like home. But those people are amazing and I admire them for their courage.

that particular italian is an orthodox christian and he lives like a orthodox monk as you can see the orthodox saints picture at 26:11 on the right. We all need to have The truth in life which is in the Orthodox christianity religion only btw. The orthodox version of Christianity is the original and true form of christianity that Jesus taught us when he came to earth, and you can feel God’s grace through the holy sacraments in this church after baptism , repentance-confession and holy communion in the orthodox christian church through the grace of the apostles that was transferred from generation to generation to what we have today as the orthodox christian priests, something that completely changes your life and turns you into a happier person with a meaningful life and also saves you by strengthening your bond with God. You can also watch the miracle of the holy fire that does not burn that happens every year, I suggest you get baptised at an ORTHODOX christian church near you, receive the holy spirit and live a spiritual life through the church’s sacraments like confession to the priest and holy communion and God will protect you, in this life, and the next, the eternal one, 😊may God Bless you!

And although I'm not completely isolated from society like these amazing persons in the video, I also keep living alone. And I have to say that at the beginning of the video, I was intimidated by the group of extremely sociable and outgoing young people, but I was soon moved by the kind and understanding way they treated each of the lonely residents. That was really beautiful, congratulations on your attitude!

This man is not some quirky genius; everything he did was a coping mechanism for getting expelled from his home when he was 23. Italy is a very family oriented country, so this must have been a dramatic event. The sad part is he never got closure. He claims he doesn't know the reason, but it's possible he actively suppressed the memory, or wants to hide the truth because it's too painful. He needed mental help decades ago, but never got it. This is the end result.

      “I am the good shepherd.”
“I am the resurrection and the life.”
“I am the way, the truth, and the life.”
      “I am the vine.”
“Before Abraham was born, I AM.”
“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.”
      -Jesus Christ
      John 6:35
Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.
      John 8:12
I Am the Light of the World
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
      John 10:9
I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture.
      John 10:11
I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
      John 11:25-26
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, [26] and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?”
      John 14:6
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
      John 15:5
I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
      John 8:58-59
Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.”
[59] So they picked up stones to throw at him, but Jesus hid himself and went out of the temple.
      Revelation 22:13-14
I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.”

I would like to share a story about the Lady of Kinaros: Back in 2016, amidst bad weather conditions, an accident with a helicopter of the Hellenic Navy, occurred in her island killing all three officers on board. Shortly after the accident, very late at night she received a call from the Navy command, trying to verify whether the helicopter had crashed on the island or in the sea. She was the first person to reach the crash site and see the horrible sight first hand. In another documentary about her, I noticed that she had a photo of the 3 young officers by her bed side. When she was asked about the incident she remained silent and tearful for several minutes.

That's because a lot of big production studios don't truly understand what something like this feels like. They might say they've experienced loneliness, but there are multiple different types of loneliness, some are far harder to deal with than others. It's like anything in life though... Personally I think being lonely (in moderation) is often good, it lets us reflect on who we are.

Great video. I enjoyed it beginning to end. I easily relate to those folk in this video. I was a shepherd for thirty years, goats and a couple of horses (to ride) and of course my dogs. I left the modern world when I was nineteen, escaping to northern wilderness. For years I lived in teepees, abandoned cabins, adventuring and hunting on my own for decades. I'm still living in the same little cabin (where I've lived for the past 32 years) in this small, rather remote mountain village. No goats, dogs or horses now, they were my best friends, but I still grow a large garden growing a lot of my own food, still living off the land to some degree, collecting herbs, firewood and such, although I gave up hunting big game over ten years ago now since becoming mostly vegetarian with a lot of teeth missing. Yes, not quite a toothless old hermit but close. Life gets lonely at times. I seldom see other people. Being alone though is a lesson in learning about who we are and what we can do for ourselves. I guess I've done okay since I'm still here, never retreating to town or city, and I'm glad of that. Of course, in this day and age, even here (like the Himalayas and remote Arctic) this village has an internet connection and of course computers are a part of most people's lives, including my own now. I've never regretted living this lifestyle, trying to be self sufficient, living off the land, doing everything for myself in order to survive day to day, year to year. I'm not the only person that has done this, as this video attests. I personally know more than a handful of people, older and younger, living mostly alone in these rugged wild mountains, fending for themselves as best they can, decade after decade. One thing I've learned living this lifestyle is that nothing can be taken for granted as things change, even in the blink of an eye. Truth for all of us really. Thanks for your entertaining and enjoyable video. Cheers!

I think the struggle to find genuine connection is what makes an individual feel lonely amidst being surrounded with many people. I love being in solitude because in my experience, it equates to learning, creativity, and productivity. I learned skills like woodworking, electricals, plumbing, etc. I learned how to draw, paint, play instruments, sing, etc. I've created my garden, grown plants, raised animals, etc. In all honesty, I wouldn't have learned all of this (still learning all kinds of stuff) if I hung out with my friends all the time. Being Alone is not for everyone but I can tell you it's a powerful yet mysteriously peaceful state to be in.

Gospel of Jesus Christ John 3:16 For God So loved the world that he gave his only Begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should not Perish but have Everlasting Life. Jesus Christ Died for the sin of the World, If you believe in ur heart God risen Jesus from the dead and confess him with ur mouth to people you shall be saved. Jesus said I Am The only way to heaven there is no other way! Repent of urs sins (Repent means Change ur Mind turning away from sinful things and being truly sorry for it.) trust Jesus and give ur life to him He Loves you cares about you more than anyone ever will! we are saved By Grace Trough Faith!,this is sin: Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death but the gift of eternal life in our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 3:23 For all have sined and felt short of the Glory of God. For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Romans 1:18‭-‬21‭, ‬23 KJV Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 1 Corinthians 6:9‭-‬10 REPENT OR YOU WILL PERISH REPENT AND BELIEVE THE GOSPEL GET RIGHT WITH GOD LORD JESUS CHRIST.

Yes! I watched his "documentary" about his log cabin, absolutely amazing work. Not only the housebuidling skills, but also the filmmaking skills. This man is very talented

This was my first video by you Fella's and outstanding job! I am a recovery coach and peer mentor. I see all the time in my work the effect loneliness can have on a person's psyche. In substance abuse and addiction, the majority of cases involve some form of unhealthy loneliness. One must learn to love themselves and I believe the most important lesson is to forgive oneself. Awesome work and great hearts. A few good men.

A lot of creators can make good videos but the videos and topics that you guys choose and the way you portray them, nobody does it better. This was wonderful from start to finish.

I noticed that all three people have found companionship with domesticated animals, so they aren't lonely in the absolute sense. And even in terms of regular human interaction, the Italian man does have that one villager friend who visits him, the woman in Greece has her son who visits occasionally for several weeks and the young man in Sweden has a girlfriend (and spends time online). Also the Greek woman and Swedish man are able to get haircuts (unless they've mastered the ability to trim their own hair).
It seems the key here is to maintain a good, healthy balance between the social and the solitude.
I'm sure there are much, much more lonely, isolated people out there than these three, it's just that no one even knows or cares about them.

Yeah, I live in Turkey and I've seen far more lonelier people, totaly away from society with no friends or relatives to visit them. They are talked about as town legends almost as it's been decades since the last time anyone has seen them. These people are not that lonely, only the greek lady living on an island but even she has a son who visits her regularly.

"you have great daddy qualities" best compliment ever lmfao.
I actually love what erik has done...i felt the happiness. a part of me really wants to build my own home deep in the forest (away from the city/town/villages). I think it's important that we stay connected with nature and develop skills to care for ourselves independently. Our current generation is so disconnected - the technology era.

As someone that has spent significant time isolated in the wilderness (also inspired by alone in the wilderness) I will say that it’s not that I don’t like people, it’s that the contact I have with people is more meaningful when it happens.

"There are people out there waiting to make a friend just like you"
I made it through the entire video without crying and when Thomas said that quote, I started balling my eyes out
Knowing that there are people out there that could one day change the course of my life in a better way, puts a damper on the pain of feeling alone
    Thank you Yes Theory

I feel staying alone is really liberating. you are free to do your own thing, nobody judging you. you can process your own thoughts without anyones interference. your actions are guided by your own wish and intentions. infact staying alone is far more healthier as there is absolutely no pressure - no pressure to convince, no pressure to perform, no pressure to make others happy. No stress to reach somewhere, no stress to be presentable to the fake world, no stress of nothing. you eat what you grow around you. you are one with the soil, the waters and the air you live in. no wonder more and more people are moving out to be lonely and liberated.

Everytime I see another Yes Theory video get posted, I am over-joyed to see what stories may be told and what will I take away from this video. I actually spent the entire day yesterday out on my own hiking and disconnecting from Social Media / Reality and meeting random strangers and learning their stories while hiking with them. To wake up Sunday morning and watch this after that trip. It was even more eye-opening to me. Thank you Yes Theory, and Thank you Matt. I am excited to see the next trip. Hopefully one day I will meet y'all!

I think the irony in the title of this video is the fact that the most loneliest person of all is likely in an overpopulated city. Feeling less like a person and more like a number.

When you said you're going to Sweden, by first thought was Erik... I've following him for 3 years now and it was great watching two channels that I follow for so long to "hang out" together even without too much (despite the Seek Discon«mfort) in common in between. Erik and Yes are all so inspiring.

Love this concept so glad people are speaking upon it with less negativity! Negativity can be used for “good” I think. As someone who lives in the suburbs and feels lonely, I’ve been coming to realize that there is nothing wrong with my lack of desire to seek attention or collaboration at this time, which sometimes makes me question if I’m healthy. I wonder if I’m strange because I don’t reach out to hangout or go places very much. But I remember that I have a lot going on inside and a lot I want to do and people often can’t relate to me very well historically or actively try to slash my confidence so I have no choice but to give myself grace and follow the path ahead. I do what I love and continue to build skills in what I know I’m good at. My reason for living and how it gives me purpose and creativity and the desire for an open mind. Love everything you’ve built guys!
