Been following you for a long time. Took off 35 pounds this year eating potatoes. Thanks for taking the time to help others. You have a beautiful family. John
I have an air fryer but it's not the top brand which you have - Phillips. What I have found though is that if I want to make a lot of fries with mine they tend to not get cooked evenly. So, what I learned is to microwave them a lot before putting them in the air fryer. This way you ensure they are all cooked through and then the air fryer crisps them up a bit. Also, if you just try to fry a lot of chips at once without microwaving them first they tend to get dried out on the outside and under cooked on the inside. Another way to solve this is to just fry your fries in small batches because the machine seems best designed for that way of doing it. But us spud fit guys aren't into small batches! Andrew taught us to go big or go home. That's my motto! :D
Watching this eating my breakfast "chips". My air fryer completely changed my life and has enabled me to remain seriously in love with the spud life :)
My fryer takes 15-20 minutes to really get the chips done. I think they taste better if cooked a little before frying. You don't get that bit of a skin on the chips or fries or wedges. I use my instant pot... another person recommended the microwave. I never thought about using an apple corer... cool!
I absolutely love my air fryer. I prefer to pre cook the potatoes and then air fry as they seem to go crispier and take less time to cook. But if I don't have time to do that I soak the cut potatoes for half an hour before putting in the air fryer and that works well too. Something about reducing the starch which helps them soften and cook quicker. Loving your channel!
I think these air fryers work best when using a little oil for an occasional treat. I don't use mine much now. If doing oil free chips I find them better just baked directly on on the metal grid in the oven. same thing really as it's only air cooking them and the fact that air can circulate around the chips it makes all sides crispy.
I never use oil, ever. I haven't been able to get chips right in the oven but pretty happy with the air fryer. I'm a cooking idiot though so maybe it's just me ;-)
I just had a good feed of spicy brown rice in tomatoes with broccoli... but seeing those chips in the end, somehow, i'm suddenly thinking about going back to the kitchen again...
Will a convection oven cook up chips the same way as this airfryer if a mesh basket is used? Just don't have the counter-top room for endless electric kitchen gadgets.
I follow WFPB diet since a while. I had to lose little pounds, so I increased the use of potatoes following your example. I had great results. Fat free air fried potatoes are for me the top comfort-food. Have tried a lot of devices, so I want to suggest your followers to buy a top-brand machine, because the difference in results with low-end devices are absolutely insane. The money spent in a top-brand device are a true and rewarding investment. Read all the reviews around and make a wise choice.
Frozen chips are delicious in it. But unfortunately I think there is still probably to much fat. I've also got a waffle maker $40 from bigw makes nice potato waffles.
The general idea is that you would toss your chips etc in a Tbs or so of oil before putting them in the fryer basket. This will get them crispier, but you certainly don't have to use oil at all :)

I have this same air fryer and it is amazing! I cut and then par boil my spuds first, they then cook quicker and are super fluffy inside :)
I tried that yesterday, great!

Just started the video and need to get one of these things. I didn’t know you could put layers and layers in an air fryer! That’s amazing!
we use it at least once every day!
You could have just added some potato to thicken up the gravy if you don't like to use flour. Some Green onions with mushrooms are really good.
Thanks. I've tried that and it didn't really work.
@@SpudFit I'm fixing some potatoes tonight and let them set overnight and see how it affects my sugar lvl

Your son is ADORABLE!

I have no idea, actually! yeah we are running out of room too!
That man doesn't have time to wash his new air fryer. Give him his spuds! 🥔
damn right!
it's Life 💜 I love when Teddy is around. I have been trying to nail French fries.
he keeps us on our toes!
Mandy, What is the spice you put on the chips and from where please?

frozen chips usually are pre-cooked in oil so I'll steer clear of them. Potato waffles are great!
The Breville BOV845BSS Smart Oven Pro is much better for a family. I will do two trays, each full. This is what Chief AJ uses.
one day...
Airfryer for life!
definitely!
"Damn fine wedge" :')))
Hi Andrew, those chips looked awesome. I just checked out the link on Amazon and it says 75% less fat. Do you still have to use oil ?

Elle Ⓥ thanks for the info Elle, think I need to invest in a air fryer 😊
I don't use oil at all, they aren't as crisp and crunchy as normal deep fried chips but they are very good!
