The great issue with this is that it should not fall into the traps AC6 had sprung, particularly Pasternak, whose boss battle was terrible due to the presence of UAVs which added the wrong sort of difficulty to the game.

Are you kidding? This is far and away the greatest flight game ever made! This game LITERALLY taught me how to fly. I actually went for flight training and after playing Ace Combat for years, everthing seemed instinctive, my instructor asked me how I could be so damn good without ever having flown a plane before! Seeing realistic movements of the maneuvering surfaces subliminally taught me how to fly a real plane. This is the best flight simulator ever!

Namco, if you're reading this (probably not), here's an idea. Ace Combat ps2 trilogy remake. Think about it. If anyone agrees, please comment to show Namco that we want this.
Their FB official page is full of that request, I hope they do because anyone who is a fan think more than 1 second to buy it.
It would be hard for people to really notice because the franchise is dying out. For those who like old school games from NES to ps2, Xbox original, and GameCube, I post videos on those games. It's on a phone so it's not going to be good quality, but it's just meant for people to remember when gaming was at it's best. Less Call of Duty, more Socom, Super Mario Bros, etc... Anyway, I really hope Namco makes the ps2 trilogy remake. It would really help the series. Especially after assault horizon. (Both games I listed are coming soon.)
I suggested a run at Ace Combat ground forces if they can have someone do good work on an expansive story driven armor simulator. The game market of which basically doesn't exist at the moment because they are either MMO's, bland story super sims or excessively arcade.
+Chicken_Sandwich That would take away the feeling of ace combat though. it's meant to be strictly air combat, hence the name, "ACE combat." It's supposed to be air to ground or air to air.
Classic Potato Not a spin off done by someone who knows what they are doing. I don't know about you but I like living my stories and there is an untold piece there that someone could take their time with and do a good spin off. It's not meant to replace the main installments but rather tell the rest of the story in period correct fashion. It gives perspective to the namesake.

Pc lol. No red dead redemption, kingdom hearts 3, final fantasy 15, no naughty dogs (which look like pc games) and no ace combat. Not to mention the exclusives like horizon and god of war. Man not even 8k with 120fps is worth that.
Yeah, those games might not be on PC, which definitely sucks. I personally think Uncharted 4 is pretty great for a console game. The issue is with the fact that both Microsoft and Sony use "ransomware" for their platforms, I.E, you need to buy their platform to play said games.
Still, we have plenty of games on PC that consoles don't have at all.

The only Ace Combat game we saw on PC was that piece of shit called "Assault Horizon". Sure, take a US pilot, name him after a Canadian WWI Ace and have one of the defencemen from the Montreal Canadiens play one of the villains. I swear, that was bad crack that they were smoking that day. Fortunately, with the PS4 using AMD x64 hardware, porting to PC should be easier from now on.

I've been a fan since I was real little playing Air Combat on PS1. 4 was and still is my most favorite in the series. Almost wanted to be a fighter pilot because of that game. I can say after the disappointment with Assault Horizon, I'm very happy to see Ace Combat return to it's roots of the imaginary world of Strangereal where it belongs.
Why do I suddenly get the feeling that AC:I's microtransaction system was a giant ass fundraiser for AC7....?

Trash .Boat The Dog Fight Mode which was in "Ace Combat: Assault Horizon"
It would lock you into a very close position behind another aircraft and most of player control was lost.
Even worse, the mode was mandatory for several parts of the Ace Combat: AH campaign.
Needless to say, I was not very fond of it.

Confirmed Erusian Air Force and Osean Air Forces. Judging by the design of that new white craft and its resembelance to the Ark-Bird, I'd say the Belkan Grey Men play a role in this game. Multiple voices on the radio suggest return of squadron function. Voice of the primary radio operator sounds like ThunderHead. Bravery in the face of quite obvious danger plus female, I'd say thats Nagase in the drop suit. Razgriz is definitely making a return.

+thefinalpie Saying 6 lacked depth and challenge while citing 5 as the standard is kinda funny. 5 didn't have depth, it had tons of gimmicky missions disguised as "variety", and had some of the worst AI in the series so no challenge either. The story had more depth, sure, but judging these games primarily on the story is pretty dumb to begin with.

I watch this trailer every day, thinking about what we will have: a big campaign, new technologies, special fighter jets, an immersive history, nothing of that DFM garbage, an epic experience and many other things... The hype has never been so real.
BTW, i was thinking, the Ace Combat series completes 20 years, it would be interesting if they did something like the Gran Turismo's "Vision GT", asking for aviation companies, design studios, etc. to create concepts about what they think about the future of fighter jets, it would be a great gift for Ace Combat's fans!

It's weird that people think that Ace Combat Assault Horizon is AC6. Um no. Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation came out as an Xbox 360 exclusive (sadly) in 2007. Assault Horizon is NOT a main series game, its considered a Spin Off.
They really need to expand the number of platforms that Ace Combat is available to, they would be swimming in money if they did.

AH was beyond terrible, I wanted to claw my eyes out while playing it at a friends and i was using AC Infinity as an example but in all im really leaning towards ace combat seven which is a play station exclusive which im dying to get my hands on to the point where i might purchase a play station for myself. As you said earlier about how the reason AC6 released on xbox because it was out earlier does reinforce my claim that it make no sense for them to limit it to one console and not release it on any other platforms as Xbox and PlayStation are both out at the moment and have been out yet they still decide to cut their revenue in half by limiting it to one system.

Optional yeah, but could you just imagine...? I do know one thing, I'm never an early adopter for new tech. Twelve generations of Microsoft Windows taught me that. I'll buy a PS4 just for this game (I'm primarily a PC gamer) but I'll see what the reviews are for the VR before investing in it. Hell, I still use Windows 7 Ultimate. I tried W8 & W10 on my sister's craptop and I saw no need for it. I have a feeling though that this VR device may be worth it. On the other hand, Logitech might make one for half the price like they do the controllers. :D
software is not tech first of all... and VR is nothing new... has been done since the early 2000 for personal use. and even longer in a few arcade machines and for training purpose...

You know what would be really cool in an Ace Combat game? If you had several main characters that you could play as. I don't mean switching in-between missions like Ace Combat AH, but like in the middle of a dogfight just be, I'm switch planes for a sec. Like just be one guy and then another but within the same team or unit. Just an idea, but it would still be cool!

I still play AC4, AC5 and AC0 on the PCSX2 emulator. I swear, that QAAM in AC4 was the most OP weapon in AC history! I LOVED IT! :D

no. it's optional, just a cool feature. The PlayStation virtual reality headset is not required to play the game.

The game will be coming around October to November 2016 for the release of the PS VR. No word on VR being necessary but I highly doubt it

The series has come a long way from "Air Combat" on ps1, definitely looking forward to another installment in the franchise. I am also very curious to see how well they implement VR here, may have to pick up a flight stick this time around!

Kinda wished they had kept the scenes of the Arsenal Bird emerging beside the Lighthouse.. And I also had wished that the person in the suit had more of a purpose in directly helping the protagonist after she jumped from the platform, & not what we got in the final game of the Princess simply using it as a shortcut to get to the ground after the battle with the Arsenal Bird...

Why you do this Namco. I loved AC 6 and Assault Horizon on my Xbox witch made me love the flying genre and now you're only bringing this to PS4???
I was so hoping for this to come to xbox as well but I guess the Japanese still hate MS
... The entirety of the series was on Playstation (1-5, and X), they made AC6 for Xbox only, and then the mistake that was ACAH was on all. Namco realized that their greatest games were on Playstation, and they're going back to their roots.

Even though it was I tink that there are many people out there who like to play flaying games and besides Ace Combat there ain't any good ones around. So if Namco just would think they could make so much more money by selling this game on multiple systems
+ValtonGamers They were on play stations yes, but then again, the most powerful and popular consoles at the time were play stations. The Xbox wasn't around yet.
