    Wrestling that mount on is an understatement! what exactly did you do? that portion of the video would have been the most informative to some. getting one off that's not completely busted is a chore as well.

      Yeah should have left that in. That's the entire reason I'm looking. I'm about to set this damn car on fire

      It's easier to go topside and loosen the mounts. Lower the engine a bit and it'll slip right on. Raise it back up and bolt it up.

      That mount wasn't the real one, it was bought from Amazon or Autozone etc...The real deal mount bought from dealership isn't not going on without dropping that engine. The rubber material is very very stiff and not very flexible at all. The third party mount have softer rubber and is way more flexible and wrestling it on without dropping the engine is possible.

    future advise for anyone looking to install this motor mount, get a 2x4 thats 6" long put it under the oil pan, loosen the top engine mount and lower the engine about 2 inches and the bottom mount will go on so much easier, then thread your bolts and when you put the nuts back on the top engine mount is will suck then engine back up and then you can tighten the lower engine mount bolts.

    If you lower the engine by loosening the side mounts bolt (first raise engine a couple of millimeters with a jack) it will be much easier 😃

    How and where did you support the engine when removing the mount?

    • @DirtydogMech
      @DirtydogMech  8 років тому

      +Frank C Honestly now that i watch the video i don't think i supported it. the engine didn't move to much. But if i were to do it again i would place a small flat piece of 1 to 2 inch piece of wood on the jack, start jacking it up underneath the old pan just enough to give the engine a little nudge. my engine didn't move much at all because the other mounts are supporting the engine but i should have.

    Is there something i can do to just improve the situation, without having to take anything apart?
    Like jamming something in there or putting some high temp RTV Gasket Maker in there?

    What brand is your impact ? Do you have any problem with Crome socket on impact wrench ?
    What is your new mount brand and how are the perform?

    • @DirtydogMech
      @DirtydogMech  7 років тому +1

      My impact gun was a Good year impact. 19volt gun i believe. Typically you shouldn't use a chrome sockets on a impact gun, but being that i didn't have a 1/2 inch drive socket available and this motor mount didn't require a lot of tightening force or ftlbs to tighten, I was able to get by using the chrome socket. i dont really remember what brand i used for the motor mount. It was just what i could afford when i went to the parts store. My civic isn't a race car so i didnt use a poly urethane mount or solid mount. Just regular rubber mount. Just don't buy the cheapest one

      There plenty of companies out there sell good 1/2 impact wrenches. From Milwaukee to Dewalt to craftsman. I'll post links to them in the description

    So it looks like you took the wheel off by just removing the lug nuts and pulling the wheel off to give you room to do the work.
    Do you think somebody with no experience would be able to replace these motor mounts on the exact same vehicle?

    • @DirtydogMech
      @DirtydogMech  2 роки тому +1

      I think you would be able to as long as you have the basic tools to remove and replace the motor mount while being safe with Jack stands.
