Thank-you, Kasey. Totally agree with your lens palming hatred. That's gotta be the most annoying thing about a YT video except for maybe the overly long intros and outros. Who needs any of that? All the best.
Fun fact (at least as far as anyone truly knows), the 'palming' technique was not originally a transition. Skateboarders, filming themselves with camcorders would palm the lens after the take where they nailed the trick they were trying to get. That way, when they went home and edited their footage, they could quickly locate 'the take' on tape, by fast-forward/rewind until they saw the palm. Some UA-camr must have seen this left in, or remembered doing it, back in the day, and the rest is YT history.
I can’t believe this was just recommended to me by UA-cam. I’m a huge fan. People are still doing this shit in 2022 😂. I’ve learned more of what not to do from you, then what to do from other creators 😂😂

I got completely distracted by the voice effect you have put on... What was that? Like a whispering reverb.. This is audible b-roll efx! And without headphones you probably wouldn't hear it at all. I love it!
Haha hilarious dude! Agree especially on the last two. Another one that's driving me nuts now and been done to death is the "positioning the camera really low and then coming into frame to bend down to talk to it at the beginning of the video". I'm looking at you McKinnon and Matti! Oh, or the black bars coming in and out of the frame to transition into a "cinematic" sequence. Takes me out of it everytime. Just freaking cut to it, we can adjust to a new aspect ratio!!
Oh god, the bending over the camera bullshit has to stop. That, and the fact that every single one of them rides around on an electric skateboard of some kind. They must come as a package with the vlogging cameras.
The black bars are fine if the point of the moment is to illustrate a technique, so it helps see the sequence as a thing separated from the other content. But just to stick it in for no reason-yeah that is too much. (Do you have a good example of one where it’s meaninglessly stuck in just to show off?)
I wish I had this video and Camera Conspiracies when I started making videoes a year ago.... I got way too overwhelmed with the more I learned and then more I watched. I gave up... It's not until a month ago since discovering CC and this guys charming awkwardness till I was like, he's right, you don't need all the fancy gear and cinematic B-Roll. Most don't have the money, skill and time for that! Focus on bringing the world your personality! Wouldn't you rather be known for that??
You forgot one, and it's the worst one for me. The side angle b-cam talking head cuts, especially when they're done frequently and on a regular timing. It's terrible and awkward and annoying.
It's super weird to watch sbd from the side like he's suddenly talking to sbd else :) The perspective shift kills the video. But the only way to fix it is to record a-roll in 4k, and edit it in fhd.

You can tell this channel is great from the fact that three of my favourite youtubers (Jordan, Gerald and Micro Four Nerds) are already commenting on it! Great video as always, mate.
BEST part was "placing the camera"!!! You really drew me in with your ridiculously slow talking and describing everything in full detail. Then you went and placed the camera outside the door and walked past it, then the elevator LOL That was great! Cracked me up! I also just recently recorded something similar to that very thing but that's because I want people to finally see how it is I do things even with a disability. So it's more of an awareness. But like you said, use everything in moderation. 👍🏻
This needs a part two. You barely scratched the surface. ;) My all time hated scene is the camera down low, and people roller skating towards it, or running to it and speaking down to it with bad AF and overblown sky. ;)

you're a great example of Canadian dry humour. love your channel! would love to see a 2023 update of annoying transitions on UA-cam
I stumbled upon your channel recently. Amazing stuff here man. Keep these things coming! You're hitting the nail on the head.
I can’t believe this was just recommended to me by UA-cam. I’m a huge fan. People are still doing this shit in 2022 😂. I’ve learned more of what not to do from you, then what to do from other creators 😂😂
You are hilarious, I’m done buying camera gear for now but still watch any video you put out. Thanks for the great videos
Just came through to see where you got your start. I really love the genuine nature of your content. It's funny honest and refreshing. Thanks for what you do
So making coffee is okay ? What about the fake “wassup everyone “
Opa! Greek Taverna I’ve been snooping on him since when he was 2k in this channel and 50k in the other channel. He is one of the originals. But DONT take his advice in diet or cameras😂 just enjoy the show
@@IjazMovies damn that's some solid advice 😂 just here for the laughs
@@IjazMovies Yes, important advice. Technically, only the new Blackmagic is edible (carbon fibre) - you can chew on the others to tone your jaw, but be sure not to ingest them ;)
Opa! Greek Taverna meeee too man!! Every single one of these 😂😂😂
I am so tired of EVERYONE starting their video with some version of "what's up?" I don't hear people say that very often in real life.
You should collab with Kai Wong...
Agree.
The crop and zoom literally makes me motion sick. Thank you for your service of pointing out this hack move, and lets hope people pay attention and start changing things.
The finger-snap segue is absolutely the worst.
Auto focus envy is a terrible thing 😁
Whole video was amazing, but the montage of you saluting the camera at the end was pure magic.
Sooo 😂😂😂. But hey, what do the papers picked to door and wall say at 13:24?
You forgot one, and it's the worst one for me. The side angle b-cam talking head cuts, especially when they're done frequently and on a regular timing. It's terrible and awkward and annoying.
It's super weird to watch sbd from the side like he's suddenly talking to sbd else :) The perspective shift kills the video. But the only way to fix it is to record a-roll in 4k, and edit it in fhd.
in black and white for no reason
What's the story with the toilet paper holder being attached to the door? 6:41
So how did the date go?
Yeah, did you get to first base?
honest to god, i love your channel. there are like a thousand same ass people, with the same lights set up in the back ground.. usually orange and teal or something, and its all the same hahahah. and youre just chillin and ranting in your apartment. i love this.
Seriously mate, your delivery is too much. 🤣🤣🤣
Love the channel. Very informative.
I think I’ll be subscribing thank you very much. 😎
Classic! Found your channel accidentally and...it's good to laugh...immediately subscribed. Keep up the great work. Also agree on the hand transitions and let's include the lame unboxing videos and squatting in the list of atrocities not to be repeated...ever.
This is the channel that's real..period..hilarious...
Hahahaah. I lost my shit at the “showing off your autofocus” bit. That’s so true 😂😂😂
This needs a part two. You barely scratched the surface. ;) My all time hated scene is the camera down low, and people roller skating towards it, or running to it and speaking down to it with bad AF and overblown sky. ;)
Domagoj Malovic not all cameras have image stabilization 😀 And they carry the bendy leg tripods instead of a normal one
Ijaz Movies I am talking about a stationary Camera and running into it...
I don’t know why I’ve bin watching this you video till the end. It entertains me a lot ….. but I don’t no why 😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂I can't stop laughing! I saved this video to my watch later, and came back to it every week to couple of weeks so I can laugh my behind off...
Remember, if you steal from one source it's called copying, but if you steal from everywhere its called research!
This video feels like it was made in 2009, but I want that to be taken as a compliment.
Lol this is so funny and entertaining bro. Just found you today and really pleased we have your videos are awesome bro. Fantastic editing skills and great footage. So cool lol. Yep we suck hehe. Huge thumbs up and love sent bro. Thanks so much for sharing this. Good to steal lol. Stay safe and catch up again real soon bro.
Camera Conspiracies Rocks !! is a undestatement :)
Admittedly just stumbled onto your channel and now I'm addicted. The self deprecating humor is very much appreciated. Keep up the good work.
Now I can never try any of those without feeling like a jackass 😂
@@bradyballard130 Epic compliment , I appreciate it!
A santa loving jackass?
Just raise it to a new level. Show this Canuck he is just too shortsighted to see the possible glory by advancing the craft. Because he has become jaded he can't see these new guns honing their craft to overtake his white ass. Except that palm on the lens that is overdone.
Lmfao where peter McKinnon at #flythepirate
I tried some recently lol XD i though it was something refreshing XD especially lens cover thing
Love the blood splatter on the wall behind your head. Kind of adds to the eerieness of your channel. Keep it up man!
Surprising that they use super-crop even though they despise the cropped 4K Canon gives us.
Stumbled on your channel. Informative and funny as fuc! It's a crime I haven't watched till now. This is how information should be communicated 😂
The hand covering the lens to finish move is so annoying! I can’t understand why so many youtubers do it. Great video.
Lemmings
Man I feel the last one, iv learnt to skip the first 40 seconds of Taylor rays car channel as every damn video it's moving the camera to show every angle of parking and unpacking his cars... Keep it up bro, shame those peeps so we can watch in peace without shouting at random people 👍
You mentioned four of five things I was planning to do in my next video!
Not sure if I am more angry at you, or at myself...
awesome content btw
My pet editing hate is all these vloggers who edit out all the pauses between sentences.
Joe Trent All they want is the perfect camera...
Oh its Cherry Blossoms on the wall. From a distance it looks like blood splatters.
Oh! I also though it was a gore- thing decor! And then...cherry blossoms!
Literally just came from watching that McKinnon and Haapoja hoopla. LOL.
That was hilarious. You nailed it. You forget the closeup of the keys.
forgot*
quick tilt transition is the new hand slap
Why am I watching this again 3 days later?
the slow shutter speed camera sweep is annoying too as many people use it for transitions.
