Ive actually been to yellowstone twice and buffalo have gotten super close to humans on my visits. the closest encounter I had was in this little parking lot, There was a good amount of people and this buffalo was caually walking through. I got to see it at an arms length. I was scared shitless, especially when people were behind it trying it touch it while I was next to it.
I have had them approach me while fly fishing in South Dakota, never would directly approach one. This dude is lucky

General tip: animals don't like to be ridden any more than humans do. He's actually quite friendly. If he weren't you'd have broken ribs. And be dead.
no, animals dont particularly enjoy being ridden, though it varies. For example, Some horses hate it, some don't care much and a couple actually enjoy it.
