It's impossible to say how pre-historic bison would react. They are bigger than modern buffalo and probably more aggressive. Their bigger size might have them utilize more of a fight than flight response. Think of a big animal like a elephant. They are probably more likely to charge a threat than to run away from it. Native Americans and Paleolithic hunters did actually drive herds over cliffs to kill the animals. Piles of bones from hundreds of herd animals, that clearly fell at the same time, have been found at the bottom of cliffs. the bones show the tell tale signs that the animals were butchered using stone tools (cut marks on the joints, etc.).

@@TheMountainMan001 oh I'm sorry I should've elaborated. I don't think overkill was *entirely* responsible for the demise of the megafauna, but I do think it was the final straw. During the interglacials climate change would've forced animals to adapt. During this period of adaptation natural selection would've wiped out huge percentages of species, leaving the species as a whole vulnerable to outside influence. In this case, that influence happened to be humans.
I’ve read some comments and I understand that this will probably never happen, Bison charging towards humans and running away from spears etc, but hey over all I think it was a pretty good scene! This was not much different from the Indians did things. I am sure they did not throw spears to change the direction but to kill the Bison. Of course, the cgi made them all have much long horns than real bison. Of course, the Indians had more practice.
I believe wolves never made friends, they. Were bred and offspring became more docile, like foxes as pets today.dogs today are wolf puppies that never mature.
NY Auto Traders Leasing granted, events like these did historically and prehistorically happen, the first Americans for instance used this method of hunting
The tribe would have moved and set up their camp at the bottom of the cliff. They were already nomadic hunter gatherers. They would force a herd over a cliff only about once a year. Then they would have enough meat to feed the tribe over the winter. They would preserve the meat by smoking it or cutting it into small strips and hanging it to dry and make a type of jerky.
@@Jwillduh Have you ever even been outside of a city? Ever been out in the wood or countryside? Even driven on a highway through mountainous areas? I only ask because anyone who has wouldn't be asking that question. Yes, of course they could not get down that cliff. What they would do is the same thing that people today would do. They would find a place where the cliffs end and there would be an easy way there. You didn't think that the cliff went on forever did you? They might have to walk a few miles, but there would be some way down that was not a sheer cliff. Even at the Grand Canyon there are paths down in some places, but you could not get down in most places. Also, the hunters weren't stupid. They wouldn't stampede the animals over a spot where they couldn't get to the bottom. That wouldn't make any sense. They would probably have the rest of the tribe already waiting at the bottom of the cliff first.

In this case, that influence happened to be humans.
it's just that...an hypothesis, not.proven.at.all.

Seems like this is an interesting movie 👌
Nice bro 🤔🤔😶👌👌👍
I’ve read some comments and I understand that this will probably never happen, Bison charging towards humans and running away from spears etc, but hey over all I think it was a pretty good scene! I’ve not seen one like this anywhere and this is set back in the ice age, who knew what happened then, all we know are most of the animals and that wolves became mans best friend 🐾 not gonna lie guys I love this film! So I see every positive in it 💚 and make the negatives into positives
This is just like the opening of far cry primal just with bison instead of mammoth
NY Auto Traders Leasing granted, events like these did historically and prehistorically happen, the first Americans for instance used this method of hunting
Great Movie verry underrated
Disclaimer:No wildebeest were harmed during the hunting!!!😆
Amasing how well trained that bisons are😄
They could have used bison sounds instead of cows. Most likely would have made the scene more intense.
1:05 this definitely won’t end tragically

0:34 Those are some big Steppe Bison. I can't believe early humans hunted huge beasts like them.
Ever heard of an Irish Elk?
Stroppy Yes, Megaloceros and it was really a type of deer despite being called the Irish Elk. Also human hunters would have hunted it too.

Imagine if they had a way to recover the dead bisons that would be meat for years 😂
The tribe would have moved and set up their camp at the bottom of the cliff. They were already nomadic hunter gatherers. They would force a herd over a cliff only about once a year. Then they would have enough meat to feed the tribe over the winter. They would preserve the meat by smoking it or cutting it into small strips and hanging it to dry and make a type of jerky.
@@steringp1434 thats sounds true but how would they make it down
@@Jwillduh Have you ever even been outside of a city?
@@steringp1434 Well, considering it was the ice age, they could just freeze the meat. Colder than your freezer no need to smoke.
@@alastair9446 Just because it was the Ice Age, that doesn't mean that the temperatures were always below freezing every day of the year. In the video it didn't look like it was winter.

@@marcellus_h7930 OK, so at least 1800. But that's not the discussion, I'm no bison expert either way can't imagine anyone charged at them. Makes me wonder did the writer and director do any research at all.

Personally, I was hoping for a greater attempt at pre-historical accuracy than what I got when I saw this in the theater. This is like a cartoon version of the paleolithic. And don't even get me started on the "drama" between the protagonist and the wolf....
Although props to the actor who played the protagonist's father. His grief at the loss of his son felt quite palpable and moving. His acting skills were wasted on a sub-par plot....
Imo the appearance and behavior of the Solutrean tribe in general was fairly accurate, at least compared to the more Tarzan-like stereotypes of "cavemen" prevalent in cinema.

Using you logic, you would have really loved it if all prehistoric humans starved to death because they never hunted or ate meat. Then no humans would be alive today. Yeah, that's something to be happy about. SMH
Do you seriously believe that an animal, such as a bison, has the same brain capacity of a human? And that their brain allows them to experience emotions the same way that a human would?
