Germans and the Eurovision Song Contest: A relationship that, in many parts, hasn't been particularly happy. Germany has often been punished and labeled as a loser, much like in the country's real history. Germany is the cracker in the lunchbox called "Europe": always present, but colorless and bland. Additionally, cracker crumbs settle in sofa crevices just like right-wing structures have entrenched themselves in Germany. The German soul is battered, but as almost-chancellor Martin Schulz once said, "Onwards we go?" And with music, everything gets better, even when it means "Allemagne Zero Points."
