2022 TM EN300 FI Review

- A review on new TM Racing EN 300 FI. This bike features TBI or throttle body injection and an electronic power valve, two things you will be seeing on KTM brand bikes over the next few years. The suspension on this bike is great as well as the overall handling. The counterbalanced motor is super smooth and you cannot feel any vibrations. The only things I did not like as much on this bike is the short throttle pull and higher seat height, both of these can be fixed with simple modifications. Overall I'm really impressed with this bike and would consider buying one. Thanks to DTR Down To Ride for coming out to ride for the day / @dtr_downtoride

That TM seems like a great bike! I hope they continue to grow the brand!
They are ramping up production from what I hear.
@@PNWEnduro TM has an artisanal way of manufacturing and does not produce many motorcycles per year and they can only build more space vertically or move production to another location. I just hope they keep the same quality and passion for making this kind of Ferrari and real 'ready to race' bikes keeping a low marketing profile because this is what makes the brand so special.
Hey, a rare bike review, and at one of my regular riding spots no less. Thanks for posting!
It's awesome to have real reviews and not be advertising for ktm. Thanks
Thanks. Lots of good bikes these days and it's great to get to try them out.
I have the 2021 Enduro 300 Fi - the most impressive is how light, balanced which leads to easy turning. My front forks are pretty stiff too. LOVE MY TM!!!!!
They are amazing bikes, I want to put one on the scale to see just how light it is. I'll hopefully try the carb version out soon to compare as well.
Great review video and I had a blast riding with you. Hopefully I can find some time to edit my footage soon 👍 taking my brother back this weekend to explore the spots we found.
Thanks again bud. Let me know if you ever want a tour of my trails.
Stoked you guys were able to make this happen!
@@PNWEnduro there is definitely a good chance that I'll be taking you up on that offer 👍
Nice review, thank you for taking time to film, edit and post this video.
Awesome to have another "quality" player in the enduro bike market... Its a very good thing. 👍
For sure. TM is pushing the technology forward the most at the moment.
TM300 is like a exotic dream bike.
Surely on my bucket list...
Strong contender for my next bike.
Glad to see some TM content! I have owned a 2019 300 carb and 2021 300 fi and they are the best bikes in my opinion
Nice! How do you like the 300 FI compared to the carb model you had?
@@PNWEnduro the fi is super smooth making it easier to ride compared to carb model which I had a 36mm smart carb on. The 38 keihin had way too much snap for tight technical trails here in Hawaii. They're both great and if I had two pick between the two I would just go for the cheaper of the two
Great review. I just switched from a ‘22 TM Fi to a ‘23 TM carbureted “Pink Edition.” I loved the chassis enough to stick with TM. Parts are no problem at all. I went with carb because it was the last pink one left, so I’ll be really excited to feel the difference. The only real negative I can cite for anyone who’s wondering was fuel range. Even with the big tank it was limited to the same distance as bikes with smaller tanks. I was able to do 45 mile loops in race conditions without drama, but it was getting pretty low.
I’d be interested to hear what kind of mileage you get on the new bike. I know the FI one is thirsty, 45 miles is probably fine for most rides but I’d be packing extra fuel for the big mountain rides.
@@PNWEnduro maybe we can meet up and you can ride it. I’ll definitely be reporting on my channel about the difference between Fi and Carb, and certainly fuel economy and noise levels.
@Michael Sheets cool, maybe closer to spring when the weather starts getting nicer.
@@PNWEnduro I need to make a run to the island to pick up one of my bikes. Could make a run up near you.
Send me a message on IG or FB!
You have some epic trails to ride. Here in Californicate ya (please excuse my crude description) our trail system shrinks every year, now we have the PCT corridor a mile wide strip that take out miles of single track . The USFS seems to be creating ways to limit motorized use, no matter how much we resist they still do it.
Tooling around on Tooler I see? Love the trails up there, you were in my backyard as well, the Goats say hello!
Where is that trail?
@@mopartony7953 Walker Valley, it’s already a very popular ORV area so I don’t mind posting.
I thought it looked familiar. Have not been there in like 20 years. Glad its still open.
Great video! Good to see recent TMs content on UA-cam
Good vid Greg.
They seem like good bikes, the few I've actually seen.
My only concern would be dealer coverage and back up, the brand is so small and not too many aftermarket suppliers doing gear for them.
Here in Aus they have about 8 dealers in the whole country, Australia is the same physical size as the USA 🙂
with like 40% being uninhabitable
I had to quit riding two years ago due to total neck fusion and sold my KTM 300. If I could ride this would be the bike. I actually have a dealer 15 minutes from my home. What a work of art.
Sorry to hear about your injury. Yes these bikes are so nice. Some people here saying the bike is ugly but I think they look great.
Great opportunity to try the different Brands G! Thanks for the review, nice machine!
Thanks, it was a great bike!
You mentioned the spark arrestor screen and that it was causing possible issues with the higher RPMs on the bike. I just finished figuring that out on my Beta. I was running an FMF powercore and using the screen the mid-to-upper power was flat and could not get it to run well. After pulling out the screen I was blown away at the performance of the bike and the power core silencer. Finally managed to get a FMF turbinecore with the spark arrestor built in and performance is fantastic as well. The screens might work if they are kept 100% clean. The problem I had is the grub screws locked in and I could not get it out easily.
Just my take but I would not recommend using the spark arrestor screens if you can avoid it.
super nice video, sick trail you got there
Tm has had aluminium frames since about 2008. I had an 09 en 450 and it was fantastic.
That trail looks epic. Really fast dudes would be right up in the corner of those undercut berms right?
Another solid review!
TM has been really strong with several Enduro World Championships with Matthew Phillips
I'd really like to try the 300 4-stroke!
Yeah you don’t see the TM 4 strokes as much but I hear that 300 4t is great too.
Any idea what size tanks the EN 300 4ts have? I've read anywhere from 7.5L to 9.5L, which is 2 - 2.5 g
This is a cool review on a bike I’ve never heard of!!! That trail looks great, where is it?
TM and Rieju... Real choices
What is good about Rieju?
@@davydtolyarenok3704 I would start with the suspension which is the best suspension straight from the factory on any bike.... The engine is bulletproof... When it was gasgas, it had electrical and some starter issues that have now been rectified and fixed... No other bike comes with as many high-end components as Rieju... Did I mention you'll probably save close to $1,500 compared the other manufacturers?
You're lucky in the US to be able to choose btw the injected and carbed version, here in Spain (I guess the entire EU) you can apparently only order the injected version and I have some kind of 'allergy' against injected two strokes :D
Sometimes i see carb one on the biggest french website for second hand. Even the 2021
I love my tm 300 en. Mine is the carb version. She riips! The first thing i notice about other bikes is the rear shocks. The tm rear shock is awesome
I'd like to compare the carb version to the TBI back to back. Starting to see a few more TM's on the trails theses days.
Great vídeo. What gear ratio had that TM bike? Maybe that is why you felt it had less bottom end pull than your Sherco?.. since I have Heard this 2022's TMs has maybe Best bottom end in the market... Let me know your thougths
lmk next time you ride in my backyard! 👍
I'll try. This opportunity came up on somewhat short notice.
Really enjoyed the video. Awesome to see TM pushing technology forward and doing something different than what everyone else is doing. Hopefully they provide good dealer support on a corporate level and continue to grow the brand.
As much as everyone loves the KYB forks, they seem to be universally just a bit too stiff for slower/rougher trails. I've owned the GasGas with the KYBs and ridden the Beta Race Editions, and they're amazing at 20+mph stuff, but rocks, roots, and choppy singletrack just beats me to death over a long day. I've heard that Sherco is a bit softer (haven't ridden one), but it's interesting to hear both you and Berry Morris (cross training enduro) mention that they're still a bit stiff.
Thanks for watching. The KYB forks on my Sherco and several other shercos I have ridden are nice and plush and work fantastic on the slow stuff. It’s all in how they spec the valving. Even my local suspension tuner says Sherco has the forks set up pretty close to the sweet spot in his opinion.
@@PNWEnduro Great to hear, thanks!
Wow! Very cool bike. I didn't know they made anything but motocross bikes. Would love to ride one.
Have you ridden the carb version ? I had a 19 300 on a carb and found it lacked bottom and all the power was mid to top it actually felt more like a 250 and was snappy and harsh , suspension was rock solid as was the chassis. I am hoping the new tbi has a plusher ride and a more traditional broad smooth 300 power ….
I have not tried the carb version but I'm trying to get my hands on one to test. Would be great to try them back to back.
To fix the side stand replace the original bolt with a normal bolt.
Is this Capitol forest?
Same bike I have. That one probably has the electric fan and rubber mounted bars as well as the larger tank too. Which map switch were you on? I switched to a 51 rear sprocket and absolutely love it. Pretty sure TM only makes like 1200-1500 bikes worldwide a year.
It had a fan added by the owner, I ran it on the hot map. Yeah I heard around 1500-2000 bikes but they are trying to up production. Certainly enough interest in the brand to sell more if they were able to produce them.
@@PNWEnduro I hope they don't up production honestly, be nice to see a company stay smallish and retain their quality.
Woohoo, the reviews are always fun. I'm curious, is parts availability an issue with these bikes if they are hand assembled and in low quantities (compared to competitors)? That 80s pastel color is a hoot, too.
Yes parts availability obviously a concern with a small brand. On the other hand even the big brands are having trouble getting enough parts right now too.
@@PNWEnduro I’m a TM owner, parts availability is a non issue. I’m located in New Brunswick Canada and get my parts shipped from the US TM Cross-shop in California. Everything is always in stock and at my house in 3-4 days. 👍
I owned a 2020 Husqvarna TPI and own same year TM Racing EN300ES carb version, and I have fully modified enginefrom catalog - no parts issue whatsoever...honestly same as the Husqvarna that I owned. Obviously sold Husqvarna for this and NEVER looked back...love the bike for Cross Country and Sprint Enduro riding/racing. Changed out for Pro Circuit pipe, and Obviously VHM Head, Smart Carb and more etc. etc.
You WON'T be disappointed! Got a 22 Honda 450 too, and LOVE both! Favorite bike brands for sure, but would love a Sherco 500 SEF Factory one day! :) Hope this helps!
@@PNWEnduro And sorry I never made it up to Canada from WA so you could try one sooner...moved back to NC from WA state just 6 weeks ago, but will be visiting due to my son if you still want to give a Carb version with race mods a try? My 450RX will have an XPR Stage 3 engine for GNCC, GP, WORCS, Sprint Enduro, and some motocross of you'd like to try that here in a little while too? :) God bless, and as always love the channel - keep up the good work and stay safe out there! :)
@lance miller good to know parts are easy to get. Thanks for sharing your experience!
I’d be interested in a more detailed comparison with the other bikes (Sherco, Beta, KTM brands)
Lookin good. Is this Washington?
If the shock is copied from another brand, then it's SÖLVA and not Öhlins. Öhlins is from Sweden and Sölva is from Italy like TM. All TM shocks I have seen so far, look like Sölva. Very nice review. Thanks for the vid!
I'm in southern oregon and It was bad enough driving 4 hours just to pick up a ktm lol. I could imagine trying to find a tm around here. Saying that I love my 250xc so far first 2 stroke, and plan on getting the tsp power kit with a medium head next season
Where’s that trail system? Looks great
Have you tried a TPI Bike with vforce4r Membran yet? For my bike this was a complete game changer. So much better throttle control, and a lot more torque in the lower revs.
Technically, i dont see any reason why a tpi bike should be worse than tbi, if they are adjusted correctly. Since, tm uses high quality components incl the membranblock anyways, while ktm save a penny on each part, this is more likeley the difference
It would be interesting to try the 2021 TM tpi bike back to back with the 2022 tbi. Most of the TM’s is see are the carb version though.
Where did you find the pipe guard ?
Thanks, that was interesting. Nice work. 👍
How did the clutch feel? Pull, engagement?
@Old Man Enduro I can't really comment on that because this bike had a mid-west lever (which I don't like at all) so the pull and engagement is different than it would be stock.
@@PNWEnduro such mixed reviews on those. Seems like you either love them or don't.
im kinda torn between this and Sherco 300 but worried over TM powervalve issue, help please!
There are fixes for the PV issue, I'd make the dealer do that before buying one.
@@PNWEnduro Thanks. Still.. which one to choose? =)
How is the handling at high speeds? Any death wobbles?
It's good at high speeds.
Curious how big the dealer network will be?
Hold on a second! KTM is switching from transfer port injection to throttle body fuel injection!? Why? Should I be concerned? I’m buying a new 2022 GASGAS TPI next month. Should I wait for the 2023s to come out? I’ve got a couple of competition enduros coming up that I have planned for the GG. I certainly hope they’re not switching the fuel delivery system because of issues. Your opinion is particularly valuable.
No issues, they work great, own 3 myself. Have a 2020 with 300 hours.
@@billypulsipher7313 So why the change!?
If it ain’t broke, so to speak.
@@TheKitchenTechnician TPI bikes have a handful of issues. Some people know others and themselves that have had no issues. Then there are others that have experienced nothing but issues. The crank sensor goes out most commonly, are usually on back order, and you should always carry one with you when you ride. Hopefully your experience turns out great though. Those with great experiences seem to love them
@TheKitchenTechnician TBI is said to have better throttle response than TPI, you can also delete the oil injection and run premix much more easily. Lots of issues with the CCP sensor on 2020-2022 KTM brand bikes which will be changed on the new bikes that are coming. From what I hear the Gas Gas will be the last to get the updates, 2025 models apparently. Oh and they will also have electronic power valves which is a big step forward.
If you were to get a tm. Would you go fi or carb?
Probably FI. It looks like that's the only option for 2023 models anyway. The carb models do outsell the FI one by a large margin on these TM's though.
Where did you get ktm will be tbi?
I don't think so, sx yes, all others no.
I'm hearing SX and XC this year, XC-W next. All TBI within a few years.
I've seen tbi a few times on the bikes in biilly bolts videos, it's coming.
I really like TM. However that fuel tank is kinda of an eye sore for me. Doesn’t even match the color of the bike. Imo. It it true you have to run 98 octane fuel in that motor?
KTM, Beta, Sherco all have a clear tank. The regular tank probably looks a bit more normal but more fuel is better for long mountain rides.
You can run 92 octane fuel, the 98 octane that recommend is for over seas. The standard tank definitely looks a lot better being less bulky and the MX model even comes with a blank tank.
The regular tank has 8.7L capacity and makes the perfect fit for the bike design. The recomended octanes for the 2s is >97 octanes.
@@cavanon like the guy above said the 98 is for overseas as the u.s uses a different fuel grading system. 98 over here is Aus is the equivalent to 92 over in the U.S from memory 👍
@Cavenon 8.7L regular tank might not give enough range for me. This bike did not seem to be as fuel efficient as you would think it should be.
How does it shift ?
I need one of these and a maico 700
I rode the 21 TM and I was impressed. The fi version. It reminded me of a better running 300xcw with kyb.
Even the 21 with the tpi I guess? It was oil injected I know that much. Was much more responsive and had a lot more pull off the bottom than my 300xc tpi. The TBI can only make that better.
@Jimbo yes, 2021 TM was TPI, the 2022 is now TBI. It would be great to try them back to back. I'm sure I'll get to do that with the KTM's at some point.
@@PNWEnduro I have a 21 model TMFi & Rode a 22 TBI Recently. TBI has a bit more pull off bottom end, my 21 feels more like a 250 style power delivery in comparison. Definitely not better enough for me to go buy a new bike but seems like its better. Super happy with the 21 model though
Is it weird I've watched this video like 10 times in anticipation for my 22' en300fi getting here later this year?
And? Get it yet? What you think?
@@GahBoe So far I've got 25 hours on it at have loved every minute. I came from a 2016 ya450fx but put some hours on my friends 22 XCW which I thought I like but for me the TM is just night and day "better" than anything I've ridden. It makes me a way more confident rider, it's very forgiving and the more I push it the better everything feels. Zero complains EXCEPT the seat height seems to be taller than other bikes which sucks for short guys like me
Impressive
what's the weight? how does that feel vs a ktm
I don’t know the exact weight but if feels lighter than a ktm.
I have read owner comparison to 22 Husky TE that 22 TM 300i is 10lbs lighter. Every reviewer comments that it feels light.
Has the CR250 wine. Sounds great. The 1985 color scheme sucks.
I wish they had more dealers in the U.S..
camara pretty blurry sir
No, it’s not. Check your watch settings.
Only when you riding in the trails is blurry otherwise is good ,thank you I have it on automatic mode thank you 😊 .
Same for me.
Only part way thru the vid but it looks wide.. edit lol. A minute later u said it was narrow
obviously the part where I saw you was cut :(

Is TM owned by ktm?
No.
