Differences Yamaha WR450F VS Fantic XEF450

- I have the chance to have in the workshop the 2022 Yamaha WR450F and Fantic XEF450 so I thought it could be useful to make a comparison video. Since I tested both bikes on track and currently developing components for them, this is the perfect moment to showcase what differs between the 2 since they share the same engine and frame but feel like different bikes to ride. If you are in doubt on which to buy I hope this video can be useful.

I own a fantic xef 450 bought this year 2022 and I find it more interesting than the WR I had last year. Much more exciting for technical enduro.
What makes it more interesting than the WR?
Looking forward to the Fantic Rally bike. It will be interesting to hear your thoughts on it.
I have it, not so impressed. Good chassis. Engine a bit lazy in low revs. Lots of issues with the stuff Fantic added to the excellent Yam base. Love the chassis and suspensions though. Also, very noisy, impossible on the road.
@@Thejumelot So you have the XEF450 Rally? Long story short, as there is realy "no options" I am considering this bike, as the only real choice for a lightweight enduro/adventure-bike that can both stand bad trails/roads and be a good friend for 200-350km long adventure days.
Would you build your own with a KTM EXC base instead, if you could do it all over?
@@janhenrikrustad8888 The base is excellent. I own this bike for over a year now and have done lots of mods. Basically, I find the additions to the WRF by Fantic to be under-engineered and making the great WRF unreliable. Once you solve those issues, you have a great rally bike with a superb chassis, a strong engine, big tanks and a beautiful Italian design. In short, I have managed to solve the reliability issues caused by the Italians on the rock solid WRF and enjoy their rally package. I must highlight mine was one of the first bikes so it probably had all the child diseases and the dealer network was totally clueless on how to solve them (had/managed to talk direct to the factory to get some satisfactory inputs after going through 3 "official" dealers and wasting months).
You can buy the WR road legal from Yamaha here in Australia.
unfortunately in Europe since 2019 they don't get homologated anymore "officially" but we found a way around it but it costs about 1.000 euro extra

I know I’m late but, in Italy if you wanna buy a “illegal street bike “ such as the Wr, you can but it’s annoying cause you can’t ride in street so you have to go to this company called “ va racing “ if I’m not mistaken and they will watch if the bike has the requirements to stay on street like for example “ blinkers” and than they omologate it for you. The price rise if you don’t have the blinkers or mirrors and they had to add it for you. So if I were you I’d go on the Fantic cause is very similar to the Wr and legal in Europe.

I'm back after 5 months on my Fantic 250 looking for an upgrade (specifically better suspension) 😂 The XE 450 is such a good looking bike I'd never want to take it offroad and ruin it.
Since the Yamaha ECU is smoother than the Fantic ECU, and since the Fantic is much more (my opinion) attractive than the Yamaha, is it possible to purchase a Yamaha Factory ECU, and install it into the Fantic?
Unfortunately it is not possible as Fantic has a completely different wiring harness and so you are unable to plug in the Yamaha ECU, I wish too it was compatible
I have a Fantic 250 and the seat is awful. I have to take a break every 20 mins.
From Rebel X you can get the rally seat cover which is way more comfortable. Just select the one for the Yamaha WR as it’s the same seat

Biggest difference for me, availability! Can't find a Fantic within 500 Miles of where I live. As far as Grips, I change all mine to ODI Lock on as soon as I bring the bike home.

Hello , is it , more or less, the same for WR250F model ? If you will use it also on single track extreme paths what do you suggest ? 4 strokes has always a ON OFF feeling and in technical and difficult situation it's a bit tricky. I ride usally with all other guys that use 300cc 2 Strokes and the difference is relevant.

Do fantic and yamaha share the same fuel tank?
If i am not wrong, there are no Fantic in the USA. That was a Yamaha condition to Fantic.
I googled the importer. He has a website with a couple used dirt bikes for sale. He is just some yoyo who has no money to import anything. These manufacturers should require the importer to buy 10 or 15 motorcycles immediately to establish the business. Some yahoo just sitting on the import contract does no one any good.
How hard is get wr450F homologated? you need to get blinkers, plate holder etc I guess...but wr is probably euro4 not euro5 rated, Or maybe I can order from you rally version already homologated :)

It’s impossible the tanks fit also on the Fantic, the only difference is the shroud that you may need to put the WR shroud also. Be sure you have the year correct as Fantic is identical as the WR 2019-2022 so only parts for these year models fit on the fantic
@@ManuelLucchese1thank you for confirming it! Maybe I cannot fit it because of the reiger rear shock that I have installed. It seems that the the shock might hit the fuel pump. I have put the wr plastics on it.
