Again Christof comes through as the voice of reason whether it’s a breakfast buffet or the decision to plod ahead, he always makes the right call. Kudos for sharing your adventure. 👍👍
After spending my whole life dreaming of seeing the Alps, I finally made that dream a reality in September when I bit the bullet and traveled to Chamonix. It was a life-changing trip, and I think about those mountains daily with high hopes to return as soon as possible. While I was there, I found the video of your Mount Rainier climb, and your channel immediately became my favorite on UA-cam. Upon returning to the States, I was delighted to find your Haute Route Day 1 video. Turns out you set off a day or two before I arrived in Chamonix. Anyway, this series has been amazing, and it feels as though I've been able to prolong my trip through your journey. Thank you for sharing and thank you for allowing me to stay in the Alps a little longer.
What a PERFECT video to finish off the series. "Isn't this what we do!?" just captures it all. The footage of the Matterhorn at the end is the cherry on the top. Man, what an excellent channel this is. You have inspired me to start running again and I'm planning on doing some trail running in the Canadian rockies next summer.
Fabulous yet again! Bridges, tunnels, dessert, and incredible scenery. Every time you release a video, I get so pumped to head back out on the trail. "A storm of stone", LOL!
This route above the valley towards Zermatt is really nice! I only know the route through the valley (and above the valley hanging under a helicopter as part of a first aid training programme!) And: seeing the Matterhorn not covered in clouds is a bonus for all your hard work!
You did the right thing in my opinion, if you're so advanced along a trail, you're committed. I've done the same thing myself on a number of occasions and I've always found a way through without too much difficulty.
Danny, Christoph and rest of the gang in the US you are awesome! Just found the channel two days ago and I can't stop watching the videos, I'll go thought them all. Love the narration and filming. It is not easy to stop and film while you are hiking and running, especially when you have to set up the camera, go back, pass by it and go back to pick it up again, and drone operating is also time consuming! Great to see you in the Alps, I wish some day to visit your mountains on the other side of the pond. Big difference between Rockies and the Alps is that in the Alps valleys are much lower and deeper, so vertical differences are huge, while Rockies mostly rise above already high valleys and plateaus. Mont Blanc above Chamonix literally has Himalayan style of vert distance, from 1000 to 4800m, that's more than Everest rises from its base. This 5 part series from Haute Route was awesome, glad you didn't give up at the closure sign cause in many cases trails can be closed because of the reasons which are not a problem for skilled and experienced mountaineers
I have already seen you turn back, when the Risk vs Reward was not worth it. I have confidence in your decisions as far as, is it safe... Keep doing what your doing. Love the scenery thanks
Great video, especially the 'closed' part. Good call. I can see why the authorities putting up a trail closed sign, and I can see (and have done it myself) why you pressed on. You know what you're doing, and you're right 'This is what we do.' Great point, "The trail is closed, but the mountain is not." Fans from rock slides can be slippery, but a manageable risk. I'm sure there are situations (many) where I'd turn around and you guys wouldn't even slow down. That's cool. What keeps us all reasonably safe is knowing our limitations, applying Ed Visteur's principle, "Summiting is optional, returning safely is mandatory," but always getting out there. I have to hike this route. It looks absolutely amazing. Thanks.
Best Vids Ever! Getting me outside for the same...adventures forthcoming. Better content than most bigger production TV shows fer sure! Can't wait for the next one and the next.....
Yeah thats what ya do! You guys are like mountain goats up there in your element! Awesome video, awesome trip. Thanks for sharing! You guys are beasts!
Here's their patreon page, www.patreon.com/mediocreamateur/overview, for those who want to support the most underrated channel of the entire UA-cam history.
Glad you didn’t let a little rock slide stop you. Same thing happened to me on the Bryce Cyn traverse earlier this year. Makes the trip much more interesting.
Super! Spent several weeks up there this past summer. Good choice to sneak past the rockslide areas! Wanna see y’all run up to the Mischabelhütte on the other side of that ridge next summer.
"Oat Root". But "Hot Rout" is growing on me now. Fantastic footage, inspirational channel and I hope you guys keep putting out quality material like this for years to come.
I read the same sign 3 years ago. It's always closed because of avalanche and rock falling danger in this area. Hike or run at your own risk is the Swiss way.
Somehow this channel showed up on my feed and I have binge watched just about all of them. Really enjoy this channel. No offense to anyone, but I find the quality of your videos far superior to your brief stint on Animal Planet, which I watched after binge watching all of these videos. I realize it was sensationalized for t.v. but this brings a better perspective. How you tubers dont go crazy running back and forth to retrieve their cameras is beyond me, seems so insane. The drone more than makes up for having to do that I would hope. I also like how you get to know the characters in your videos, and that adds to it exponentially. Thanks for bringing us on all your adventures, I realize it is alot of work to make these videos, and likely takes away from the adventure when filming. I also love the dry humor, lots of belly laughing, have you ever considered a career in being a stand up comedian? I am sure you would be quite the success.
Awesome Hike Video glad you guys are Still Out there Making this Kind Of Content !!!! v Love to see all of the Different Place you All Hike And Trudge through Be safe Can't wait for the Next Video . Thank You For All You Go Through To Make These Video I'm Sure It's Quite The Grind ... But What An Adventure .. Be Safe Out There !!!
So nice to see you hike this. Did it two years ago, when the path was still open. When you decided to go, I hoped that it wouldn't be the bridge towards the end they disassembled, but it looks like it was just a few sections where rock avalanches damaged the path... sure hope they open it up again, I was planning to do it with the kids, maybe next year.
Just checked, after the first rockfall of 1000m³ in Aug 2018 there was a second smaller one in Jun 2019. However, the hut's website says the path was opened again at the end of this year's season...
These videos are so motivating, The MA Crew rocks! Please come out to Pacific Northwest in WA and do the Ptarmigan Traverse in the Cascades and the Bailey Range Traverse in the Olympics...You guys be safe and keep posting videos! Woot!
Absolutely loved this series, documenting the Haute Route. I guess the beer prices were still as insane as ever in Zermatt, but heck ... the trains run on time, so who cares!
What song did you use at 3:10? Shazam says it's some Korean song but I highly doubt that. Also awesome video as usual, I always get super excited when I see a new video from you guys.
Great series Danny! I might go and do this one too, although I think one day extra would be nice. Really annoying your channel, it's just always great stuff. Even these older videos!
Holzschlag means, that there’s some woodworks going on, or some trees are crossing the trails…not necessarily closed though ✌🏼 Greetings from Austria 🇦🇹
“Isn’t this what we do!?!?” Me audibly yelling at work, “YEAH!!!!!!”
Yeah these guys are neither mediocre or amateurs.
Best moment of the series
goosebumps! fucking nice work lads!
"The trail is closed but the mountain is not." Love it. You guys are awesome.
Thanks Paul, btw I lost the SIM card with your appearance at Maroon Bells or you probably would have gotten a cameo on that one. Sorry!
@@cnuila no worries. Getting to meet y'all and the selfie with y'all was cool enough.
Well they try protect normies from killing them selves. You aint normies.
Great philosophy.
instablaster
This may sound strange...but finally, there’s ads on this channel, because this channel greatly deserves all the ad money it can get.
agreed. I want this dude to make money from this for more content.
I second that!
Yeah, and I hope Dynafit is all over this as well.
i try to share these vidoes on fb exc exc.
Concur! I describe it as great to watch, courageous in effort, and professional in production.
God Bless for safety always...
Again Christof comes through as the voice of reason whether it’s a breakfast buffet or the decision to plod ahead, he always makes the right call. Kudos for sharing your adventure. 👍👍
Ha! I'm usually the lemming, but once in a while I have a good idea.
Enjoying the mountain huts is part of the true alpine experience. Stop and smell the roses...
"The trail is closed, but the mountain is not". Couldn't agree more.
Thanks for all the videos and for taking the time to bring us along!
been waiting on this! legit my favorite youtube channel hands down. Better than any content on the travel channel!
Oscar, the eternal pilot.
Always finding a way through the clouds and a save landing at the end

I hiked TMB in September
too! I love you both and your dry humor is killer!!
Kudos to you for making your dream a reality!
Did either of you also do the Europaweg “short cut” through the landslide? I’m curious how sketchy it is.
I love Christof telling Danny to "calm his butt" at the mountain hut.
Great video.
What a PERFECT video to finish off the series. "Isn't this what we do!?" just captures it all. The footage of the Matterhorn at the end is the cherry on the top. Awesome, go get 'em!
I was desperately hoping you would continue, and I wasn't disappointed. Outstanding!
A bit wild, with a dash of cazy and a whole heap of experience... Wonderfully entertaining!
You guys deserve way more subscribers and way more views. The content is just phenomenal. I’m glad you’ve enjoyed Europe❤️
😎 awesome man terrific effort
Fabulous yet again! Bridges, tunnels, dessert, and incredible scenery. Every time you release a video, I get so pumped to head back out on the trail. "A storm of stone", LOL!
Absolutely the right call to keep going. The trail was marked really well, not like most trails you hit. Nice job guys.
just binged this series during like fourth lockdown. thank u so much for the incredible content. makes me hopeful for more mountains in the future !
The drone footage with the Matterhorn in the background is mind boggling.
Another epic video. Fantastic guys! 12:05 says it all. And yes, the mountains are our medicine. Thank you.
This route above the valley towards Zermatt is really nice! I only know the route through the valley (and above the valley hanging under a helicopter as part of a first aid training programme!) And: seeing the Matterhorn not covered in clouds is a bonus for all your hard work!
Their hearts are bigger than a horses heart with all that hiking. Living the dream and bringing it to us thank you.
Such amazing videos, love the situations you all get yourselves into. But ultimately happier to see you all finish in one piece.
You did the right thing in my opinion, if you're so advanced along a trail, you're committed. I've done the same thing myself on a number of occasions and I've always found a way through without too much difficulty.
Love it, trail is closed but the mountain is not...Boom let’s continue! Awesome 👍🏽👣👣👣🏔 great video

Hype!!!!! Your videos are always top notch! Keep it up! Really appreciate this!
I doubt there is anything in your path that you guys can't handle. Amazing video as always !
Possible international incident? Nah! Way to power through. Well done as always you guys. Thanks for showing us Switzerland.
Loved this trip!! Wanted it to go on and on. Breathtaking views & some scary ones. Glad you two enjoyed the journey. 👍🏻😎🏔

Watching your videos in 2021; mask anxiety kicking in! Love the views.
Quality content as always. The footage was majestic and felt jealous the entire series
Ok, nice warm-up for ... The Great Himalayan Trail! Hope the GHT is on your schedule.
You guys are amazing. I have watched many of your videos. Mind-blowing.
Danny, your drone cinematography skills got really - REALLY - good. (ex., at 07:44 and at 09:09). Keep it up, man.

Great series of videos on the Haute Route. You guys were so engrossed by the scenery you missed the eye candy at das Europahutte!
Super! Spent several weeks up there this past summer. Good choice to sneak past the rockslide areas! Wanna see y’all run up to the Mischabelhütte on the other side of that ridge next summer.

Incredible series of videos. Beautifully shot and edited. Love the dry humor also!
Fabulous, including the audio track. Doesn't get better - Thank you!
Inspirational in many ways! Thanks for all the sweat equity that goes into these videos. You guys are the best!
So excited to see this finally come up. This series has been absolutely epic. You are a mastermind of content

Awesome video. I like the expression "the Trails closed but the mountains not." Half of what you we're running on I wouldn't consider a trail anyways.
Best channel on youtube
Epic trail running, filming, and editing. I have no clue how you are able to bring it together so beautifully. Sad to see this trip end!

Good job guys! Watched all 5 vids and really enjoyed all of it
Haha I'd been waiting for this one! Very much have enjoyed the posts of your amazing Alpine adventure.
You dudes are doing fantastic work. I lover every episode!
We learn about the Matterhorn as little kids, but I've never checked it out. Looks impressive!
"Isn't this what we do?" What a trail, and what outstanding shots you guys got. So glad you pushed through! This is my favorite video yet.

"there's lumberjacks afoot" LMAO
ahhhh...Loggers if you live in the PNW. :)
@@desviz another pnwer. nice
Come to Socal and hike the Iron Mountain to Mount Baldy Traverse. The trail is 20 miles RT with 10,000 feet of elevation gain.
You should do the Three Sisters in Oregon in one day.
i second
I'll buy you a beer if you do!
48 miles, 5800 elevation gain in a day? Damn, that would be crazy
Just adding, if they do it they should do the full 5 volcano traverse. Bachelor to Broken Top to South Sister to Middle Sister to North Sister.
Yeah they should all 8000m peaks in a day with runners
Great series Danny! I might go and do this one too, although I think one day extra would be nice.
Really annoying your channel, it's just always great stuff. Even these older videos!
That trail was only closed for tourists not mountain goats like you both. Amazing views!
Mountain never closed
Holzschlag means, that there’s some woodworks going on, or some trees are crossing the trails…not necessarily closed though ✌🏼
Greetings from Austria 🇦🇹
Badass dudes ✊🏼
What a great series of videos!
Unbelievable. Thanks for taking us along.
Finally some rules breaking on the closed trail. Rules are to be broken. Mountain is never closed :)
Absolutely brilliant. Thank you.
This is my favorite channel!
Ending on a high note! A little too perfect fellas. I guess not all trips can be suffer fests.
You guys should hike mt denali
Mediocre? I think not. Awesome trip and content. Keep it up for all of us envious slackers to enjoy.
Ganz toll! There was no trail on the Maroons or in Eagle Creek either! Zermatt keeps getting bigger.
Next trip suggestion: sentiero roma...
Beautiful filming that takes dedication to the craft 🤘
I've done part of that route now I want to do it all
Love your content! Very inspiring. How do you create your map animations?
I would also like to know, pretty neat
Beautifully filmed. Well done!
Best day ever. Good call on the trail.
Hell yeah guys. Got some new jams for the “this is what we do!” Montage
Switzerland is the most beautiful place in the world!! If anyone is in Zermatt, be sure to do the Edelweissweg (Edelweiss Trail)
Love the vids keep it up
