Tunnock's is the OG caramel wafer and I've had them since I was a kid taking them in pack lunchboxes! The Tunnock's is softer on the inside and thicker too. I tried the Aldi one last week because a family member bought it randomly. It was good but the inside filling wasnt as thick and felt more airy than Tunnocks. The Aldi one is just a lower quality replica in my honest opinion. Good but not as good as Tunnock's.
Ahhhh welll Paul, we're certainly going to yield on that point, very well defended. Any more true scottish staples you think we should put to the test? What ever happened to the real Irn Bru, what's your thoughts on the new sugar-less modern stuff? Wishing you a great weekend, Shane and Lisa xx
We keep saying that we should do the taste test with the comparisons mixed up, like a blind taste test. Wishing you a great afternoon, Shane and Lisa xx
Here in Australia, $6 AUD for the Tunnocks at Woolworths & Coles, the two major supermarkets here. $4 at Aldi for the Belmont Aldi brand. The Aldi brand is the same bar, both made by Tunnocks.
Thanks Peter. This has got to be the closest comparison we have ever tried… there was zero taste difference between then. We’re keeping up the work, more videos on the way.
Hi Francis, Aldi ones were a winner. We have not tried the cart wheels but now you've mentioned them we will be on the lookout for them. Not had them for years and years ( decades in fact ). They used to be the size of a whole dinner plate 😅
It's the exact same product made in the exact same factory.
Big bucks added just for a brand logo, it would seem. Wishing you a great afternoon, Shane and Lisa :)
Or is it? On closer examination there are subtle differences to both taste and appearance.
I think everyone in Scotland might disagree with you, Tunnoks are No1 .

They are not same. TUNNOCKS are more chewy and nicer taste.

the chocolate on tunnucks is slightly thicker, but no overall real difference
and wonder if they are from the same factory too... Wishing you a great weekend, Shane and Lisa xx
It is a win win with the aldi ones, but they have gone up in price from what they were just a while ago. Keep up the good work you two. 😁
