    What are your favourite cards from the Drax Hero Pack?!

      Bring it is probably a 3x in all agression decks. Even if there is only 1 minion it just helps cycle your deck

      The regroup for Starlord is pretty good I have played Spiderman Miles and Ironheart also potentially White Tiger when she is released with Thanos to get them back and use them over and over again. The other thing thats nice about is its not Forced Interrupt so you get to choose when the ally is saved. Also really good for Wasp deck as well because can bring back the mental!

    I turned a year older this weekend. I am literally slathered with expansion packs. There are unsleeved cards everywhere. I don’t have the time to hear anything about Drax.
    That being said, tell me more about Drax.

    Man after seeing Drax they did Hulk so so so dirty. And this is coming from someone who enjoys playing Hulk and has won plenty of games solo with him on expert. I want a new Hulk built like this. My goodness.

    • @AllYouCanBoard
      @AllYouCanBoard  3 роки тому +1

      Haha, I've heard that sentiment a lot after people look into or play with Drax. I don't mind that Hulk has a different playstyle or is more aggression based without the protection aspects, but I definitely wish his pack was a bit more unique, stronger overall and had some more variety. Drax is just much more fun to play so far, imo.

      @@AllYouCanBoard well it mostly comes from the fact that the designer of Hulk (and Drax) said that Hulk originally was based around a rage counter mechanic similar to Drax’s vengeance counter mechanic. They changed it because they decided they wanted to make Hulk more simple to appeal to kids.

    Love the MC coverage. Always insightful. Have Drax but haven't tried yet but now I'm eager to try him. Was wondering if dead was going to feel like Groot but he seems way more offensive. Hope things open up in Manitoba for you guys soon. Cheers.

    Okay, finally was able to play Drax and finish this video and I have some thoughts:
    - Drax is a green snowball (powerful once you get rolling)
    - Drax likes to stab (He hits hard)
    - Nothing would go over his head because he'd catch it.
    Other thoughts:
    - Groot is my least favourite guardian in solo, probably better in multiplayer
    - His aggression card will be essential for some decks.
    - Great breakdown! Can't wait for Venom and then Mad Titan's Shadow!

    beat standard Rhino in 3 turns solo with Drax. my quickest solo match by far, felt so good. his thwarting abilities are his big downside, but isn't as big a deal in multiplayer.
    With cards that let him ready after he defends you can easily get his counters built up by defending yourself then defending a friend in multiplayer.

    Amazing video, drax looks like the hero that can really benefit from the protection cards that on most heroes don't shine too much and a good hero to play protection in true solo, can't wait to try it out

      Yes! He's been a blast so far in true solo actually. Even when I lose, it feels a bit like a race once I build Drax up. Can I take down the villain before he takes me down? I love it.

    I started a campaign with Core box and gotten to play him once. Really enjoyed him so far as Protection had his ATK at 5 and in Hero form for most of the game and only had to flip once. Even took Obligation and took the stun to keep in Hero a couple times. I Med teamed Mantis and kept her out the whole game too. Would prolly throw max first aids in deck if another aspect. Really liked Intimidation. Was exhausted most times Knife Leap came up so limited plays with it. Parry was nice took a Rhino Charge for 8 and another big stage 3 attack when his ATK is at 4. Thanks for the content and one suggestion to play with others would be with Hangouts since the pandemeic that is how I play with 2 of my buddies and got another 2 buddies into the game.

    • @AllYouCanBoard

      Thanks for the comment! Yes, if you're able to build Drax to 5 and keep him there for a while, man does it snowball in your favour fast. I really like that's style of play, it's a different kind of anxiety and risk than Star-Lord delivers but I think I prefer it!

    I think Think Fast would be a great solo card that enables a flip to alter-ego on low threat main schemes. Its cheap and even the downside can be mitigated if you heal in alter-ego form anyways.

    Regroup is an especially good card multiplayer because it works across the table so if in a 3 player game everyone chump blocks the round Regroup is out all of those players get those dead allies back in their hands.

  • @aSyphodias

    I think he is my favorite hero from this cycle! Absolute beast when tweaking his basic deck with some cheaper damage reduction (Side step, preemptive strike). And a couple of cheap allies too.
    At first I tried to build him as a defending hero but it did not work as you end up sometime exhausted on your turn and missing out on too much damage.
    I will try aggression to see how that goes.

    • @AllYouCanBoard
      @AllYouCanBoard  3 роки тому +1

      Yes, I love Drax. Played him some more and he's just a ton of fun. I prefer him protection the most, but I only actually defend with him sometimes. Rarely even. For the exact reason you mentioned. So it's an interesting way to play Protection for sure!

    If I'm not mistaken, Martyr can work really well with Drax. She'll take that one consequential damage at first, but as long as she is just attacking stuff she can finish off, she'll stay in indefinitely since her tough will negate the consequential damage for all her following attacks, which will then give her another tough status. Obviously that will work a lot better with bigger minions since Drax's attack can get so high, but in the right circumstance she can stay around and reliably reduce the pressure from minions without needing to keep her healed.

    • @AllYouCanBoard
      @AllYouCanBoard  3 роки тому

      Hmm, I don't know that it works that way. If you attack and defeat an enemy and the consequential damage removes your tough status card, I don't know if that counts as "taking consequential damage". Could be wrong on this though! Either way, you still have to keep defeating minions for that to work, so it wouldn't be entirely broken if it did work that way! Something I'll have to look into! Thanks for the comment :)

    • @wastelandsniper789
      @wastelandsniper789 3 роки тому

      @@AllYouCanBoard I could certainly be wrong! But I have seen people talking about doing something similar with Venom's Symbiotic Bond and Energy Barrier over on the subreddit, so I'm inclined to think it would work. Might be a question we have to ask Boggs or Caleb.

  • @AmariieMaerthos
    @AmariieMaerthos 3 роки тому

    My thought on the Martyr ally. Instead of using the Tough she gains to block an attack, it would also negate consequential damage from her next attack, and if that attack ALSO killed an enemy, she could just keep attacking all game if set up right.

    With drax I never go to alter ego I have night nurse, 2 med teams, and obivously Mantis to heal and a few desperate defences for defense to ready after. Also in drax's kit 2 cards you should always have are Leading blow and C.I.T.T so I can easily get 3 basic attacks off usually 12 to 15 damage and this pairs perfectly with Dwi theet mastery as you get to draw 3 cards. Also if you want to break him give him 3 counter punches I once got all 3 on one turn and won because I got 15 damage.

    Technical question. Does a stunned villain attacking, cause a revenge counter to be added?

    • @AllYouCanBoard
      @AllYouCanBoard  3 роки тому +1

      I don't believe so, no! I believe that in lieu of the attack, the stun counter is removed so it doesn't count as an attack on Drax that would add a vengeance counter. Don't quote me on that, but I believe that's how it works!

    You do know his power works like spiderman right? The villain initiates an attack, drax gets the counter, then you can just block with allies

    • @AllYouCanBoard
      @AllYouCanBoard  3 роки тому

      Actually, I don't believe this is correct. The wording on the card is "After the villain attacks Drax" which indicates that it is after the attack has been resolved. If the attack is resolved on an ally, then Drax was not attacked and thus would get no counter. If the wording had been "When the villain attacks Drax..." then I believe you'd be correct. I was confused about this too when I first started playing with Drax, but I looked into some threads and this seemed to be the consensus. Here's one of the threads I had seen this discussion taking place: boardgamegeek.com/thread/2672648/drax-power
      Specifically, Spider-Man's ability says "When the villain INITIATES an attack against you..." whereas Drax's specifically says "AFTER the villain ATTACKS Drax..." I think that's where the different lies.

  • @user-fr1ys2wn4t
    @user-fr1ys2wn4t 2 роки тому

    Any 4 hand size hero is automatically playing with a handicap. So "fight me Coward" spends 1 card to get attacked and draw 2 cards. So he needs to be attacked by the villain to get the same 5 card hand size that all the good heroes have. Against any hard hitting villain that's a steep prize to pay..

  • @GlennGiven
    @GlennGiven 3 роки тому

    I may be mistaken here but I do believe that if you Defend ("block") with an ally Drax will still receive the Vengeance counter as the trigger condition is "..after the villain attacks Drax." Even when another player chooses to defend an attack on Drax (or use a Preemptive Strike to cause an interrupt defense switch) while the other player would be considered the defender it is still Drax that was attacked. Likewise Tough or other damage mitigation would not impact the adding of Vengeance counters. Also this means that while Payback would account for the Vengeance counter triggered by the attack (as both the Hero ability and the Payback card are Responses that process after attack completion) Parry would NOT count any vengeance counter placed as a result of the attack triggering the Hero Response as Parry is an interrupt and would resolve prior to the completion of the attack. All in all, this makes Drax even better!

    • @Atlasfilms08
      @Atlasfilms08 3 роки тому

      Drax does not get the counter if an ally or other player blocks because then it wouldn’t have been Drax who was attacked but the ally or other player.
      Maybe you’re thinking of the way Spider-Man works because his power triggers when a villain attack is initiated against him which is a bit different because initiation happens before defenders are chosen so he can have the villain target him, draw a card then have someone else defend. If you chose someone else to be the defender they then become the person who was attacked.

    • @GlennGiven
      @GlennGiven 3 роки тому

      @@Atlasfilms08 I misunderstood the attack resolution when another player defends (using their hero). That said, per the new rules reference "When an enemy
      attacks, it targets a specific player, then resolves that attack
      against that player....If a player wishes to defend, that player exhausts a hero or ally as the defender. If a player other than the target player defends, the defending player becomes the target player for this attack....If an ally defends against the attack, all damage from
      the attack is dealt to the ally. (If the ally is defeated by the attack, additional damage does not carry over to the identity.)" When a ally defends the hero is still the character attack though the damage from the attack is dealt to the defending ally. While the damage is now dealt to the ally the character attacked does not change from the Hero (unless another player is using their Hero to defend). also per the new defend rules "If a player defends against an enemy attack that
      targets a different player (either by defending with
      a character they control or by resolving a defense ability), the defending player becomes the new target of that attack" Wich tracks with a Player using an ally they control to defend doesn't change who was attacked even though the defending character is now the ally.

    • @Atlasfilms08
      @Atlasfilms08 3 роки тому

      @@GlennGiven Drax’s power is worded very similar to retaliate.
      “After this character is attacked, deal X damage to the attacker.”
      “After the villain attacks Drax, place a vengeance counter here.”
      And according to the FAQ in the RRG retaliate doesn’t trigger when another character (including allies) defends for the character with retaliate.
      They answered it specially for Black Panther “if an enemy initiates an attack against Black Panther but another hero or ally defends against the attack will Black Panther’s retaliate trigger?” “No. Black Panther himself must be targeted to trigger his effect.”
      I don’t see why Drax’s power would work any differently.
