Dice Miner is a great filler dice chucker with a good theme. Love that you guys got into Scout, one of my all timers. If you enjoy deckbuilding hybrids Tyrants of the Underdark is super underappreciated. Dune Imperium is my favorite but if I get a 3 or 4 player game of Tyrants it could be 1B.
That was a fantastically fun gaming retreat! T&E is an epic, strategic, slow-to-boil game. I think you’ll find Y&Y to be snappy and more tactical. I spied the Lion’s Green Leader without a neighboring Red Tile, but perhaps that was a teaching scenario. 😉 Interactive games like T&E are just better in person. Enjoy!
Good spot! I think all of the b-roll was shot during the teach and the timelapse is the TRUE gameplay. I'm very very eager to play Y&Y :). Thanks for spending some time with us! - Braiden
I felt the same about Moonrakers after 1 play... after a few more plays though you'll feel differently about the 'Catan' Effect. The first few times around the table is about building your deck specifically to handle a certain type of contract and then youll he off to the races doing contracts on your own. It actually feels like more of an engine builder than an deck builder and ive been so impressed by how efficient you can make your deck in this game. With 3 players we get this done in 30mins. With 5 and a new player or 2 it can easily run closer to 2 hours though
Interesting thought. Many reviewers said when the game came out that it was dragging on when a player reached 8 points but I also thought that by that time, you should be able to finish a contract by yourself. The more plays, the stronger your engine construction will because you’ll know the cards. I need to get it back to the table with the expansions that I haven’t tried yet.
Time of Empires - I haven't played the game but I also don't like sand timers in games - not sure why, increased stress to make my next move maybe. I like when the concept of time is abstracted into a game, e.g. time track mechanism.
I'm SOOOO glad we got SCOUT to the table. I was a little tepid after watching some playthroughs but its a game you have to play to understand it. And Gift of Tulips is also great definitely give it a look (I've now since played this on BGA). Thanks for spending some time with us! - Braiden
Games that play well for 3 to 5 players. If you have 6 players I think a 2p only games tournament would be fun. 1. Foundations of Rome 2. Western Legends 3. Dice Town 4. Ethnos 5. Istanbul 6. Unfair 7. King of Tokyo 8. Push 9. Welcome To… Ready Set Bet and Libertalia were good picks too
The ones I want to try the most are: The White Castle, The King is Dead and Caesar's Empire. The ones I want to revisits (+6 years!): Keyflower and Ra. I was surprised with the compliments to Sunrise Lane, based on commentary/buzz level around. Also, Imma gonna need Dylan to blur his face in the next videos after that T&E commentary. I need time.
It appears that War of the Ring: The Card Game is an overcomplicated and overwrought version of Quartermastermaster General mixed with Smash Up. We love Quartermaster General with Prelude. It's quicker and cleaner and plays up to 6p seamlessly. Great video, the best board game content of the year so far!
@@AllYouCanBoard It’s the game that War of the Ring is based on, same exact card system and designer. Very popular with many different iterations. Always a little bit of rules grit though, unfortunately.
Fun listening to your opinions on these games, even though our tastes are super aligned. I really liked when Braiden asked you both what surprised you about the game Earth. I think that gets a conversation going which is my dynamic to watch. Nicely done! I have the 2015 ed. of The King is Dead and it is consistently in my top 100 games because of how clean it is. Not an easy one to get to the table though, which surprises me, considering how easy it is to play a couple of games back to back. Thanks for the tip to go to BGA and play Gift of Tulips. I did that and beat a seasoned player 71 to 70 and felt the tension about where are things going and that final add on to the festival from the secret cards is such a good twist. Gave me feels of Arboretum when you have to gift to your opponent and make their hand really strong, but then you could get 7 points out of that. And yes, how do we get in on this cabin weekend?
With respect to War of the Ring, the card game; I have read loads of reviews and like you have only one game under my belt. The sweet spot in the game is when you do know the cards then it’s a fabulous strategy game between the 2 sides, play, counter play, hidden information (does he have this card), when will that be played, etc it becomes deep and strategic. Well, let’s hope so.
Do you guys always get the same cabin? This is the first year since I met my wife that we aren't able to do the winter cabin gaming weekend. We typically get a different cabin each time with the main criteria being that it needs to have a wood stove, which is key here in Vermont : )
Hmmm, that's always a tough thing for me to consider - if I'm indifferent about a game I find it tough to invest in expansions without knowing if I'll actually enjoy the game more. And this was a review copy we got. We'll see though, I'll read up about the expansions and maybe it'll seem worth it for us. Thanks for watching! - Carlo
I played several board games over the weekend with two of them being new to me board games! Parks and Isle of sky with the druids expansion. Both ones that ive been excited to try and are newer additions to my collection. Curious to hear opinions on these games, especially Isle of skye as i know Carlo loves carcassonne quite a bit. Ive only played carcassone a couple of times and just the base game but I instantly liked isle of skye better just because of the varied scoring and price setting mechanism. Have any of you tried these games? Of the games you've played over your trip i own ready set bet, caesars empire, libertalia, and keyflower. Libertalia and keyflower im excited for but havent played as of yet. Only one play of caesars empire, and ready set bet but enjoyed both of them a bunch! Keyflower was a purchase due to it being so well regaurded within this channel so kudos on spreading your love for the game!❤
Oh man Carlo and Dylann will LOVE to hear they sold someone new on Keyflower 😁. I've played PARKS a bunch on BGA but not in person. I find it cut and very chill. Good vibes! - Braiden
@@AllYouCanBoard haha I'm sure they will! I really enjoyed my play of parks and a lot of it is due to it being a beautiful game! I also in general love all the mechanics it implements which just made it a great experience over all. ☺️
Unfortunately not yet! Shamefully, neither of us have played any Splotter games yet, but I'm eager. Here's how I'd currently rank them in terms of my interest in trying them: 1. Bus (already pre-ordered a copy of the Capstone reprint coming later this year) 2. Roads & Boats 3. The Great Zimbabwe Also interested in Antiquity, Indonesia, and Food Chain Magnate, but not as much as the first 3. I have two young kids though (2 1/2 and 8 weeks) so it's tough to find time to play heavy/long games like those. Hopefully soon though! - Carlo
Hope you have a chance to play them! Based on my exp., A game of TGZ should be shorter or at most as long as a game of Agricola. The perfect information nature of Splotters games will give you a bizarre fresh feeling. They like a mutant chess!
I love the little trash talk that Braiden just casually drops throughout the video. 🤣
I have no clue what you're talking about 😁.

YES! Finally, the "Cabin Recap"! Been looking forward to this since the numerous references in the Best of All Time videos!
It's HEEEEEERE. And it's a big one. Enjoy!
What should we bring to our next cabin trip?
1. Great Western Trail
2. Five Tribes
3. Istanbul
4. Race for the Galaxy
Wonderland’s War, Heat:Pedal to the Metal, and Cosmoctopus
Me!
Linie 1 (2021 Japanese ed.), Imperial, The Princes of Florence, Amun-Re, Cuzco (Kramer/Kiesling), Paris Connection, Santiago

30 mins hey? I would definitely play it again if I was confident in that quick of a play time. Maybe we'll play it with 3 players next time.
Just found your channel. That seems like that would be a ton of fun playing those games. New subscriber here!
Welcome a-"board!" Glad to have you here with us 🥰. It was a BLAST.

Totally fair! It definitely added to the stress of the game FOR SURE. Gotta be in the mood for that type of game. 👍🏻
Gotta say that your production value is really great
Thank you! :)
SCOUT is such a great game! Something we pull out all the time! But I'm excited to try gift of tulips!

Eye heart Scout.
Best at 4 or 5 players for those times a person plays a 5 card show.
Games that play well for 3 to 5 players. If you have 6 players I think a 2p only games tournament would be fun.
1. Foundations of Rome
2. Western Legends

4. Ethnos

6. Unfair
7. King of Tokyo
8. Push
9. Welcome To…

Nice! Now to find someone with a copy of Foundations of Rome 🤔🤔
Fun weekend, lot of game I enjoy on that list. Ra is my #1 game but advise skipping it at 2p. Great at the other counts.
Yeah, that's what I think Carlo has echo'd as well! It still surprised despite what I knew about it going in.
- Braiden
Euphrat & Tigris is a masterpiece. A true 10/10.
It makes no sense how Knizia designed this... I mean that in the best way possible, like only HE could've designed a game like this.
The ones I want to try the most are: The White Castle, The King is Dead and Caesar's Empire. The ones I want to revisits (+6 years!): Keyflower and Ra.

All this time I had no idea War of the Ring was based off of another game system. Interesting.

Glad to be of service! And maybe we just expand a cabin weekend into All You CON Board 😁😁.
Sunrise Lane and Havalandi have been two major Knizia-hits for us as of late and both seem to be severely underrated in terms of online buzz
Yeah, I think we've ordered a copy of Havalandi. Interested to see what it brings!
You guys got a nice group. I wish I could have joined you
Aww, thank you so much! I can see three being the sweet spot but I didn't mind it at two when I played it with Carlo a little while back.

No, that was your one chance and you missed it and I’ll never forgive you.

I think the King is Dead has been on my play/own list for yeaaars now. looks like a great game!
Yeah it's deceptive at first! Lots of really good decisions throughout. The game arc is quite good.
I agree. It’s a great game with a nice amount of cruel decisions that come back to bite you 😅
phenomenal overview/recap
Thanks so much!
I really like moonrakers but I get it could take a long time to play.
Especially for a negotiation game, I think we all agreed it took too long. Oh well, maybe it'll go a lot smoother next time.
