As a Marvel Champions adorer, I can still understand Dylann’s reasoning - sometimes it’s too much content. Blue Lagoon & Res Arcana in my personal top10. Also, excited that I received So Clover for Christmas.
I'm not surprised about the Marvel Champions drop, it has been the same for me. Partly because of the contents overload, of course, but as Dylann said, after playing so many games, there's bound to be some kind of burnout happening. Taking a break away from it can really help. Radlands being above Lost Cities I did not expect, on the other hand.
I have bought travel edition of For Sale 3 times now (I have given away my previous two copies to my friends). The newest printing of travel edition that I bought this year has a bit thicker Box, but this is due to MUCH thicker coins. The old ones felt a little bit harder than paper, and the new ones feel like thinner cardboard, but they are sturdy!
Quacks has been one of my favourite “fun” games for years. Glad to see it ranking well on Braiden’s list. It’s just a good time. I really do think I need to try Blue Lagoon and Battle Line after watching these videos.
Quacks is a great comfort game. Kinda like a Hallmark movie in my mind. I would highly recommend trying Battle Line for a more crunchy experience. - Braiden
I have played Le Havre and Ora et Labora back to back and OeL IMO completely replaces Le Havre. The added spatial puzzle makes the game MUCH more interesting. The worker placement part is handled better as well :).
There is a ton of interaction in Age of innovation. It's more of the Brass or Age of Steam variety of interaction where it's less about hurting the other players and more about navigating the game state to benefit yourself more than you are benefiting your opponents. My #1 game with Gaia Project and TM. Absolutely fantastic
Although I love For Sale and Blue Lagoon, I would choose Biblios and Through he Desert over them every time if given the choice. Also, Battle Line is a better design than Lost Cities. Love, love, love Battle Line!
Totally fair. Biblios is super solid (and I'm kinda sad I left it off my list). I also need to play Through the Desert still. Thanks for watching! - Braiden
Why would you say that Battle Line is better? I’ve only played Battle Line. I think I’ve seen it said that Battle Line is more tense. I’ve played BL dozens of times and I just played it twice this past week, but sometimes I feel like there’s little true bad luck mitigation. I should mention, I have never played with the tactics cards.
@@paulhamrick3943 It is far more tense, way cleaner scoring. More interesting decisions, more dynamic strategy as well. A far better design as it is quicker to play, score and is more elegant. It’s higher rated on BGG for a reason. Lost Cities is a fine game, but nowhere near as good of a design as BL for my money.
Dylan’s reason for burning out on Marvel champions is the exact same reason why Ironman 3 is the last marvel movie I’ve watched. 😅 too much content to keep up!
Carlo, I’ve been able to detect that Le Have is truly a “gamer’s game” and that people who don’t like it aren’t true gamers, so you seem to be a true gamer.
Dylann C$200 - wow, while the odds of getting 30 picks in exact slots 'were' very high - you left yourself open to unlimited winners - you could have qualified your offering - multiple correct entries are thrown in a hat for that one prize - despite all that, this cost you nothing in the end ! :)
I don’t mind if you call me a liar Dylann 😂 but my very first game of Patchwork I filled my board. Assumed it was something easy to do, and have never even gotten anywhere close since.
Wait did I miss it or does this mean Hallertau dropped off Carlo’s list entirely? I’ll need to go back to doublecheck but my memory was it was in his top 25 last year.
Not yet but I'd like to try it, and we're expecting a review copy of the reprint, Huang, in 2024 so you'll hear us talk about that on the channel eventually.
I like a lot of your list, but Dylann you shouldn't have Res Arcana anywhere near your top ten let alone the top 40. Maybe you could put it at rank 50, but anywhere higher is wrong. I really need to get Zoo Vadis and T&E. Now I'm going to like and rewatch the whole video.
Lacuna is a really nice 2p game, entered my top 10 list for games released in 2023. Recommend. It seems Zoo Vadis is a better game than the old Quo Vadis... which felt flat for me. I'm the Boss is a much better game in the same category irl. Tried it? I got 13 of those games in my collection 🙂
I've just played Lacuna for the first time a few days ago and enjoyed it! As for I'm the Boss I don't believe any of us have tried it... I've heard good things though! - Braiden
I see that you all enjoy 2 phases games. You should try Santa Cruz, an older classic. I looove patchwork, el dorado (the newest edition is gorgeous), blue lagoon, lost cities and akropolis. Received si clover for christmass. Ps: the lord of the rings: the card game is the best lcg!
@@AllYouCanBoard For me, it's more the gameplay than the art. I love head to head games, but through past experiences hate poker and this felt too close to that. Waiting for the card I need to make a poker hand. I'd rather play Air, Land, and Sea which has a similar lane battle mechanism, but the ability to bail out early if you think you might lose really adds a nice element. Other than Battle Line, you and I have a lot of similar game tastes!
It's another year of Dylann saying that the graphics in Battle Line might put him off the game. I really feel I should send you guys a copy of the Polish edition of the game (Spór o bór), so Dylann can decide once and for all whether the stunning illustrations will help him immerse himself in the game :). P.S. I don't work for the publisher, it just makes me super curious as I also love Lost Cities :).
@@AllYouCanBoard perfect! Please let me know if there is any board game store/ café in your neighbourhood, or any other address where I can send the package. This must be solved ;)
We don't find that weird. Very few games can make such a strong impression to be thought of so highly after so few plays. If that makes our lists less credible to you then we respect that, you can judge these lists however you'd like, but the way we see it is: these lists are subjective and clearly presented as such. Nobody is saying these are objectively the best games ever, so if someone says a game is their favourite, how does the number of plays affect the credibility? Anyone can like any game as much as they want.
That cable in the background had me convinced that I had cracked my screen
Ooops! Ugh..... 🎊 Early April Fools! 🎊
No, it's the other way around ! - they placed the cable strategically to give you the illusion that there is no phone crack :)

I love what Braiden brings to this group. Such a great grouping of games from everyone!
I appreciate the kind words 🙏🏻. Thanks for spending some of your time with us!

Excitement for the 20-11 range is clear with a creeping disregard for the timer haha Love the lists though!
Full on blatant disregard at times! Thanks for watching ☺️.

$200 Canadian is like $7.50 USD ;) 😂
Great video gents!
Looking forward to the top 10 video!
Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
It's at LEAST $10 😅. And ahoy fellow Canadian! 🇨🇦. Thanks for tuning in!
Playing Powerball has better odds.
Which reminds me, I need to get a ticket (with multiplier).
Coffee = Serious aka Top 20
Beer = The Grind >20

I like the way you've framed the interaction. Something I didn't really think about. Thanks for the insight.

My wife completed here Patchwork board once and still lost by a few points. I bet she is still mad about it if I asked.
That is... ridiculous 🤣. So unfortunate!
I didn't know AJR reviewed boardgames!

@@toddkauk6099agreed, scoring turns me off of Lost Cities. I have Schotten Totten, which is Battle Line but with brighter artwork, and enjoy it a lot.

Confirmed, Dylann just hates BattleLine 🤷🏻♂️.

The artwork in Battle Line is so classic, I love classic board game artwork and lots of the modern artwork is too cartoony and corny.
