    Good observations on various aspects of the vehicle. A decent review! Its not a superlative vehicle in any particular area, but does well as an all rounder and long term ownership prospects, particularly low maintenance costs are likely to be very positive for families.

    • @bvedant

    • @Lemon83166
      @Lemon83166 3 роки тому +4

      It doesnt hold lower gears, it just has a better throttle response. It will only hold a gear if you smash the peddle. On the highway it will stay in 6th if you only slightly use the throttle. Thats why she said its better, because you dont need to accelerate harder. Ive tested this on the highway and it uses less L/100km in power mode than eco if you are crusing. Eco only cuts the aircon use hence why it can "save" fuel. Dulling the throttle on a highway is stupid. You cant overtake at all. You can compare Eco mode on the highway to a 4 speed Mazda 323 from 1998 lol

BTW it is the same chasis and 4 x 4 line in the Everest, but the point here , saying Ford is yet to prove they can build great 4x4's is pretty small minded stay on point, your out laddish statement directed at the ford motor company. American's invented the car, and have built many off roaders for the Army and civilians While we enjoy a small percentage of cars for the off road, dont be so narrow minded to think no other car builder knows what their doing.. Most of these brands were doing it before the Japanese.

      @@2004lesk01 seems more of an argument with you than a perspective. Maybe try looking into reliability of a vehicle than just history. Understand that Rangers sell a lot in Australia, maybe more for looks than other things. Also, my first hand experience with Fords while working on mine sites, we bashed every 4x4 and all get equally abused; fords had one of the highest failure rates and issues with engines, transmissions etc. Anyways, can’t argue any more and did not mean to offend.

    Keep your vehicles as the way they have been....SIMPLICITY, VERSATILE for the common driver
    Again no electronics especially for things like terrain response, suspension, wheel articulation...Let it remain simple, manual...DRIVER SELECT

    All the mentioned usage can be satisfied by many SUV that are much cheaper, yet more comfortable. Prado is not the best choice for family who don't drive off-road a lot. Because it compromises onroad comfort for off-road capabilities. I.e. choose to use body on frame and solid rear axle rather than unibody with independent suspension . This review is better to include demos showing how capable it is doing typical 4WD driving which random suv can't do.

It costs $50,000 more than my LDV Ute which also has a 2.8 litre diesel engine and all the electronic and safety stuff you can think of. I have driven lots of Prados as part of a previous role in the NT Govt, where we had to go to remote communities. Engine was good - ran all day without any complaints. Interior was spartan, given the price of these vehicles. Don't get me started on the cheap jack. I used to take my own trolley jack out bush, as punctures were fairly regular. Tyres aren't great either, although they were the standard Dunlop highway tyres. Anyway, you get the picture.

    Its nice... but I think a Rexton is better, better towing capacity, much cheaper but still has all the safety and luxury as the Prado and it is a decent offroader, not as good as a Prado but still good, I would go for a Rexton.

    You can make this video shorter by simply stating "This is called an SUV. Its big. It makes you feel powerful on the road, so the trucks dont scare you so much. It doesnt fit in all car parks under 2m, so just find a nice little spot halfway up the gutter because this is what a SUV can do. Also, no internet app likes NETFLIX, but u can use this dvd player for.... well, its just for bragging rights. Who watches a tv in the car anyway! In the back, its very easy to fit your monthly yoga bag and mat inside, along with the groceries that only require 4 or 5 bags at most. Because we dont spend more than $200 on food per week after we pay $350 per week for this car, plus $130 per month on insurance, plus $120 every 5 days for fuel."

    Looking at the prado, in fact looking at the SUV range from Toyota, across the board, they are still treating their customers like mugs. Oh, it has a DVD, do people still use those? It doesn't have wireless connectivity. The range still lacks much of what is standard in other SUV's. Toyota's attitude is, people buy what we want to offer ( because they do) instead of we'll deliver a vehicle that is actually of a 21 century design, because that's what people want. The 2.8 lt still isn't enough for a vehicle of that weight, especially for towing. But as with all vehicle manufacturers, they refuse point blank to listen. Tune the engine,upgrade the ECU and exhaust, upgrade the suspension, replace the tyres with
    A/T's all on a vehicle you've just spent a 100k buying. Oh and one last bugbear that bloody LCT, a tax introduced to protect the local car manufacturers, of which Toyota helped push. But today we no longer have a local car industry but the tax is still very much in place. Neither the motoring journalists nor the manufacturers are fighting to remove this government money grab. Buy a car that attracts the LCT and your negotiations should start from the point of no LCT.
