If You take a Black 18 year old who was raised in the inner city and stand him next to a black 18 year old who was raised in the county you will find they are not the same person. Culture and environment determine to a large part who we are.
If you listen at the start of this video, you will see that the student speakers were chosen because they believe racism is real, and they were told to argue that whites aren't racist. They were told to come up with other factors for discrimination. They were not arguing what they believe.
You blame racism because you want something external to blame for your failures, so you don't have to ever look in the mirror and question how much work you actually put into your life.

I completely disagree with the message in this video. I've seen a number of these soc 129 videos and like them for the most part. I disagree with some, and this is one. I was hoping he was taking this somewhere. Racism and discrimination still are big problems. He took no opportunity to correct the nonsense those kids were saying for argument's sake and even seemed to agree with some of it. For the record, in America, race and economics are intricately tied. There's a reason black Americans are consistently on the bottom socially and economically. That explains how a Nigerian can come here and do so much better than a black American despite both being black.

Start from the beginning. The professor asked the person who believes in racism to speak as if they didn't and make the arguments they hear from people who don't believe in it. He is not speaking on his own belief.
Because the data backs him up. Google Thomas Sowell or read his books. He researched the subject and provides detailed data. He also lived the issue as a black man growing up in Harlem, graduating from Harvard, teaching in Stanford.
