The very first Mun landing I ever did in Kerbal was an Apollo-style landing actually. I actually found planning the flight logistics to be a ton of fun and well worth the effort and ended up leading to a hilarious situation where I accidentally crashed the lander, had to send a rescue vessel, realized the rescue vessel *had no heat shields or parachutes for reentry* and had to send a _second_ rescue mission to save both my Mun crew _and_ my first rescue team.
Tons of fun and taught me a lot about being more thorough with my flight planning.
i learned rendezvous only when i passed by mars, i refused to do rendezvous, then i realized i could only go to mars land and come back with rendezvous... omg it's much easier than i thought i'm kinda disappointed, but it gives so much pleasure to see the two ships docking
The Energia that launched the Buran and Polyus spacecraft was the decendant of the UR-700. There was an even larger rocket planned called the UR-900. The UR-500 became the Proton like he mentioned.

@@SwiggSwoogz its funny, cause it never worked lol. the N1 blew up on all four of its test flights with the longest test flight being under 2 minutes in length. as for the U700, well it never made it off paper.
@@MrHbaus Wrong. The N1 rocket system was perfectly fine and is even used today in many American rockets (Antares). Having many engines made perfect sense and Russia was ahead of the US in rocket engine technology. The problem was ELECTRONICS. Russia was way behind the US in electronics and due to US sanctions, the Russians couldn't get ahold of the advanced electronics coming out of the US and Japan at that time. Sad how being behind on one technology could slow everything down.

Plus, landing skis are doable stock now with new parts from Breaking Ground DLC, plate hinges with gripping parts on them can act as acceptable landing skis.

This is amazing... and ridiculous... on _so many levels._ You are a madman.
The landing craft of the UR-700 reminds me of designs of a potential (but never used) direct ascent vehicle of the Apollo program.
The universal rocket sounds a lot like the F-35 jet. One ship with multiple variants for different jobs.
Needless to say, if the Soviets had gone that route and it was anything like the F-35, they would have gone bankrupt and collapsed far sooner.
The F-35 is probably the most pointlessly awesome planes ever made. It's the result of a good long orgy between the F-117 Nighthawk, AV-8B Harrier and F-22 Raptor, with stealth capabilities, bomber capabilities, attack capabilities AND the ability to take off extremely quickly and land on a dime, like the Harrier. despite all that awesomeness, it was a failure. Everything it can do, an F-22 can do (except taking off and landing vertically, but the raptor has superior redundancy, having two main engines instead of one) or an F-117 can do.
Except for the fact that they can use the same tank and engine as the Proton, Chelomei did design the UR series for the rockets to be modular, so the build and development cost was supposed to be relatively cheap.
Now the real problem is what to do when those montrosity explode, poor Kazakhstan had to take a huge amount of carcinogenic UDMH

The Eurofighter has nowhere near the stealth capabilities. It is an amazingly maneuverable craft and arguably one of the best of Gen 4, but if I was a betting man, I'd put my money on the F-35 any day of the week, and I'd place double that on an F-22.

I think they had chutes in the first Cosmonaut missions but it wasn't enough to slow the vessel down to a safe speed, latter retro boosters were added to compensate.

9:14 You can do this in stock KSP too, sort of. Go suborbital and add a maneuver node just before your path enters the surface. Don't drag for any Dv, use the node for timing your burn. Just go into the map view and look at your craft info. It says there "burn time to 0 m/s," which is usually a decent estimate.
