Somehow people keep forgetting GTA 6 has a reported budget of 2 billion USD and started dev work in 2014. Proper game development takes time, even with the buggy mess we still have today, we're talking about a game coming for a company that was founded specifically for this game, with 0 prior assets and money, utilizing and developing brand new tech, never done before. Not one that's on its' 6th instalment where half the assets are copy-paste from previous instalments, and with currently selling titles and big publisher money to back it. Either people need to get a reality check and realise this is how game development works, or just ignore the game and don't buy into it, it's not that hard.
I think they didn't showed flying a fighter for 2 reasons 1 for the story at the end of the demo you are joining the flight academy because Captain MacLaren (played by Gillian Anderson) recommended you. On beginning of the demo it said that you failed to become pilot and you will be trying again she is even cheering you up saying that it took her few tries too. second is that star citizen players know how flying the ship looks and feels they are doing it now they were showing the things that are story related or are not in star citizen now like alines, or push pull mechanics in 0G. It 100% overstayed its welcome and it felt like cutscenes were most of the gameplay even if really it was 50/50. So yeah it wasn't great but it wasnt terrible I will play for the story since I already have it. But I am not sure if I would buy it if I didn't had it already.
Eh. Squadron 42 still has the possibility of becoming something, but Star Citizen is a lost cause (and not what it was supposed to be). But they would actually have to release it first. Not just say that it's feature complete and released soon-ish. It was supposed to be like that in 2016. Sure, they could've watched the gameplay video from the beginning (where the story intro is explained), before saying the intro is shit.
Yeah I agree, by their own admission they havnt played the game for quite sometime. If your going to disguss something at least go and use it/try it/open it do something with it, to acquire some up to date information about it. Should I talk about a topic in a pubic forum that my last personal experience with was from 15 years ago? Do some up to date research on a topic and if at the end of it you have negative feelings about it thats great, let us know and THEN we can trust and respect that information. Currently a lot of this commentry is woefully out of date can cannot be relied upon.
@@himisti Star Citizen is already released. If you can play it, it's released. The thing is, people have absolutely no clue what they're talking about whenever they bring the game up, but they're super confident in not knowing what they're talking about.
@Billy-bc8pk it's also officially in alpha, so it's not really that much released. It's just a pile of features in a barely playable client. I test it every time there's a new major patch, and each time it's just as barely playable as the last one. And most importantly, not the game it was supposed to be.
Feels like they just have no idea what they are talking about, as someone who’s played it for a long time, it’s a ton of fun with lots of fun stuff to get upto, the only issue is the learning curve is harsh and actually figuring out what and how to do the stuff is tough.
If you want someone that knows about star citizen, I would recommend Berks (not Burke but he wouldn't be bad) or SaltyMike. I personally don't agree with SaltyMike on about half his opinions but he does know a lot about he game and I think would be able to tell you in more detail about the games failures. (if that's what you want) Berks would be a better middle ground. Someone who would both praise AND shame the game when appropriate. He also is pretty charismatic.
Levelcap, morph, saltemike, Olli43, Montoya Plenty of people they could have on, don't have to agree with everything they say but they all play the game and know a lot.
As others have stated, You do your audience a disservice with all the assumptions and little knowledge of the project. You should have some of the major Star citizen content creators on your show if you're going to talk about it. They are not shills. they will tell you the truth about the project. It's really disappointing.
They also stopped their development in 2016 when they asked if the backers wanted a $20m game when they broke $200m in funding. So, they did only start developing and have been at it for 8 years. Another game that took 8 years to develop was Elder Scrolls Online. I'm not concerned that it going to be another 2 years.
You watched a demo for the single player that isn't finished. Yet I've been playing the PU for 6 years and loving every second. They have zero idea what they are talking about. Lol I'm playing the game right now lol
you should really get a streamer that plays star citizen full time on the podcast that can tell you all the pros and cons. saltemike and berks are two that come time mind that would be great to give you actual player perspective.
I think taking this long to develop is fine. They're inventing a lot of new technologies in gaming so it will always take longer than your typical annual cod remake. Having said that, if they can hit their release date of 2026 with SQ42 and that game isn't an utter buggy mess then that bodes well for Star Citizen coming out either that same year or within the next 2 years after that(2028). Once SC is out, and people aren't subject to wipes, I think you'll see a lot of peoples' perception about it change for the positive.
That would be fine if they funded it privately. They did not fund it privately though. They fund it with a pay to win cash shop in a game that's not out yet.
@NugKnights There is barely a difference between private funding and public funding. It's speculative either way, whether you're buying shares in the company or pre-ordering their product. The only real difference is that you're speculating fun/enjoyment rather than profits. I can't fathom how not being under the thumb of a greedy investment firm or hedge fund is a bad thing.
@@NugKnights It won't technically be pay to win, if they can make the rags to riches gameplay in SC about as fun and engaging as the big org stuff and the first can lead to the latter more or less organically. @@lenni-hazels Its absolutely pay to win. they are selling ships you can only get by paying over 20,000 USD not by playing the game. Rite now its ONLY pay to win. There is no way to earn these things in game.
@@NugKnights What is winning in a sandbox game, are you comparing dogfighting capabilities? Supposedly a big ship will also demand higher crew count and maintenance cost, taxes and whatnot. At least that is their target for gameplay.
Damn a bunch of people who "own" access to the game but never touch it suddenly critique the game thats both being built from scratch on its own engine and its introducing networking developments that could change online mmo in the future. The thing that frustrates me the most is that they will be lapping it up with praise once they get it stable and out; and then they will have collabs with multi-crew gameplay. The people who do the 180 on this game will be angering, for sure.
If you guys want a realistic idea of what the game is like you should really consider reaching out and talking with one of the content creators in the space. Tech demo is a terrible description of what the game is.
