This is great! Love your sketchbook tours. So fun and inspiring. I like the, "whatever's in front of me" sort of approach. So great how you're really studying the subjects, not just filling a sketchbook with pretty pictures.
It is so amazing to see these drawings and paintings. to see how you take this closer look and find those small things to paint. it is a reminder, not to paint everything, only what's interesting and to take that close look. Sometimes I struggle with what to paint, because is see to many things or I think I should be painting more then this small thing in front of me. thx for sharing this 😁 it helps me allot.
I just purchased the same exact sketchbook! It arrived yesterday. It’s very lightly toned and it’s small enough to throw in my bag. I like that. Love seeing artist sketchbooks. It’s like a little glimpse into each person. Beautiful little sketchbook! You are giving me ideas.
I loved this! Inspiration galore and when I watch your videos they’re like meditation for me! I start to relax and dream and smile in my heart! Thanks Sarah for being here for me/us! ❤️🙏❤️
I did that truck tutorial of Ian's too but I did it through Etchr's UA-cam channel in November . It was a lot of fun. I ended up trying that style on 3 other vehicle sketches afterwards. I love looking through your sketchbooks.
Love this tour Sarah. I watched the colour notes video and those beach scenes that you painted are incredible. The sand dunes and grasses and the shadows are perfection.
This tour was amazing! So laid back and relaxing. Love the little video sniplets in between and the music fits just perfectly! So excited to find out, what you're up to in the future.
As always You made a video and share Your experience, those sketches are soooo nice and seems so easy to make them them when You are doing it. Then I try and "oh, my f£@$ god, it's terrible" when I look at my sketch. So back and listen what to do....the more I learn, the more it seems to be - things like how to make those colours and when? where? Composition, push and pull colours to make the impression You want! So much more than I thought from the beginning, lucky me to have time for it! Well done, my friend!
I found your channel a few weeks ago (the color note study!) and ever since then I feel so inspired! I love the way you capture shadows especially, which is something ive struggled with for a while. I now take more time to just observe and study the colors. This sketchbook tour was amazing and I feel the urge to create art
This is such a lovely sketchbook Sarah! Thanks for sharing it with us - I also really enjoyed the colour notes video and found it really useful. Take care ☺️
I love sketchbooks around the a6 size or even smaller..... for me it's just more easy to go for it, as I only need a few min to do a while page, and seems less serious since its norm alot cheaper than "full size" sketchbooks. I found small black, kinda cream color paper, sketchbooks at dollar general for $2 or $3 at most. The paper is awesome for ink and works well for watercolor to. Deff not watercolor paper but it dont let colors or ink bleed through. And its pocket size with garden cover and elastic. For the price, I dont feel bad for just playing/wasting paper. Some of my favorite watercolor sketches are in these books
I enjoyed this so much Sarah. Loved the trees and the roots all twisted and gnarled. Also very taken with how you move between different mediums so well. Just such a pretty and charming sketch book for future reference. Really think you grasp of landscape and it’s components is so beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
I absolutely love all the different media you used in this sketchbook, it's like a whole new story on each page. Also, I feel the pain of water brushes too. I've tried so many times and still I struggle with them lol!
Wow that’s a gorgeous variety of paintings, sketchings, and very inspirational art! Gives me some great tips and ideas for painting in my new variety of sketchbooks. I have yet to try or find a Toned Paper Sketchbook. Thanks for sharing this video with us.💕😊
Very nice flip- through. I have just ordered the new Hahnemuhle 100% cotton A5 landscape watercolor book. I have been using the non-cotton versions and have high hopes for the cotton books. They are not too expensive.
Lovely. I have a cheap notebook - really only good for pencil and pen - that is 100% for my non-dominant hand. Even the into text I did lefty. Something different.
Beautiful paintings/sketches as always! I was wondering, which colors do you use in your gouache palette? I was looking through your videos too see if you have one on it but haven't found one. I watched your videos on what colors you choose for your watercolor palette and found it very interestning to see your color choises. It would be interesting to see how the different palettes differs from each other since the color options aren't the same. Eventhough I don't really paint landscapes I still find your color choises very appealing and your tips on color mixing is just 👌👌👌👌
Gorgeous sketchbook, Sarah. Thanks for sharing it. I have a question, though, that I get everytime I see sketchbooks that are full of complete art pieces. Do you have other books where you scribble ideas, draw a person while standing in line, draw cups and salt shakers while eating lunch, etc? Or do you just never do that stuff? My sketchbooks are a mish-mash of finished sketches as well as these scribbles, lists, notes, etc. Just curious about how you experience your art world.
I never have less than 10 sketchbooks going at once. It's a curse and a blessing. They are all documenting my life in different ways. Some of them are full of little scribbles and writing. Others are used for testing paint. Others are used for more finished paintings. I only make a few "finished" paintings each year, but most of my existence as an artist is within the pages of a sketchbook
@@SarahBurnsStudio Thanks for the response, Sarah. I guess you're tellin g me that I need to be better organized (grin). I always have several sketchbooks going at once but they represent sizes and paper types, with no distinction between scribbles and finished drawings. I've filled nearly 100 of them over the years and yet I don't have a single one as "clean" as the one you just showed us. I'll give this some more thought and maybe get better.
@@larrymarshall9454 you shouldn’t compare yourself to other artists and adopt their strategies unless it’s something that you really think would help you. We all work differently, do what you need to do!
@@SarahBurnsStudio Good advice. I've been "adapting" for a decade. I find it fun, which is why I do this. As for perfect sketchbooks, these always fail for me though occasionally I try another one.
More lovely work! May I ask, what is your set up for painting on the couch? I would love to break free from my desk and get more cuddle time with my dog!
what pen do you use for your ink studies? those thin lines are so thin and uniform and i looove the style of it. It reminds me of some of my old dragon books that were made to look like study pictures (almost like botanical books) when i was a kid.
Is there a class that you recommend for someone who loves ink and watercolor both separate or togeather....even just sketching.....but dont have any skills or training..... I just want to be able to have fun and be able to make something nice, or ske ty ch what I see then add color....or just strait watercolor. I guess I'm saying I suck/I'm new. And what should I do to learnt get better the fastest
There’s no shortcuts, it will still take a lot of time and repetition to get good at anything you choose. I have some beginner skillshare classes that show how I draw different things (rocks/trees/water/sky) and demonstrate painting it with multiple mediums step by step. The drawing section breaks everything down into basic forms which is extremely helpful when I first started to learn.
Hi ...I unsubscribe... subscribe... frequently watercolour channels on UA-cam...because I get frustrated with watercolour and then get attracted by it...so I have continuous love- hate relationship with watercolour...maybe others also identify with this feeling....but it never happens this yo yo with oils and Gouache. Please comment... anyone

Thank you Steve! I have definitely shifted over time from "I want my sketchbook to look pretty" to LET'S LEARN!!
Beautiful!
I agreed with you 😊👋

Love to see the sketch painting from Corgarff - that’s where my dog is from 😁
Love the variety of mediums and subjects in this one! What a special sketchbook that have kept you company all over your home and the outside world
Thanks Becky! I need to replace it with another small one, because it was just so nice to know there was always a sketchbook at arms reach
Loved all the sketches the twisted ink trees are awsome thanks for sharing Sarah 👌
5:29 and I would LOVE to see more those undefined Watercolor sketches with the ink over it! Your work absolutely fascinates me!
I kinda love leaving half of a painting in sketch form...it's so cool to look back on them
Loved seeing the variety of subjects and mediums.
Well done! Your trees, your beach scenes, the whole video is amazing! 😻👌❤

Thanks Sarah. A small A6 would be a good idea for me. Larger areas make me anxious 😂😕
Yea it's sometimes nice to have a small page to fill for a short sketch session.

It varies, I have quite a few - the .4 Rotring Isograph has been fun for tiny lines
the lines in your trees are wonderful! and who wouldn't want to live in a Hobbit hole... ok maybe someone 6 feet tall lol
Hi Sarah. Convinced… I‘ll Write to the Hahnemühle würd aI Coupé get an A6
