  • In this lesson we cover one of my favourite topics - doubles strategy. From where to hit the ball based on your position being either the net player or the baseliner and where to position yourself on the court based on the previous shot.
Hopefully this will form a simple guide for you to use immediately in your next match that will help you win more points 💪🎾.

I hit cross court, and then I try to use more and more angles and try to get the opponent to hit the ball to my partner that is standing near the alley as I pulled the opponent out wide! I just try my best and try laughing and enjoying the game. Coach I have developed a serve so slowly that opponents fail asleep waiting for the ball to hit the service box, it’s been working out well for me. I was told I have to watch hitting my lobs, because I almost hit an airplane with my lob the other day! I like joking and making fun of myself when I make mistakes and I love to laugh and have fun on the court. Great job on the video Coach, just subscribe to your channel my friend.

That is also a great strategy @Sweeney-Kubach. Enjoying the game is what's it's all about so great to hear you are having fun out there on the courts and not taking yourself too seriously, look at Alcaraz and the way he smiles between points even if it is not always going his way. Just be aware your slower serve may be working for you at the moment but as you progress in level players will be able to punish it and you may need to develop more speed for offense. Lobbing with height is a great play and more important than depth. No one likes having to hit a smash off a really high lob! Thanks for the subscribe 👍

I have been using my two handed lob in my matches and that shot has won me a lot of easy points. I had a partner that is 94 years old and she plays back, and I run down balls and I told her to hit lobs and drop shots and she was doing so good we beat 4.0 doubles team. We totally took the net from them. Great job on the video Coach. I am new subscriber my friend.

Great to hear, the lob can certainly be an effective shot in doubles. Amazing that you had a partner that was 94! Shows that tennis really is a game for life. And to beat a 4.0 team as well congrats 👏. Taking the net in doubles is what it is all about. Thanks for the subscribe.

@@PatrickSmithTennis any level can hit winners from the net, and I try not to judge a book by it’s cover. I have lost to a lot of people over the years when I underestimated them my friend. Her name is Gail and she is a great person and I love playing tennis with her, because if I miss a shot and start getting mad, she smiles and says it’s okay it’s only a game. What I hear, is that life is better when you laugh at yourself for missing a bad shot. Great job on the video Coach. I have been hitting off the ball machine and working on my foot work, if need a good laugh I down loaded a few videos of myself hitting off the ball machine. Thank you again for posting this video my friend.

Well said @Shaunsweeney-Kubach71 . And good to hear you are using video and working on your game. What ball machine are you using? I'm looking to get one myself to help improve the demonstrations on the videos. Thanks
