1:50 What to do after a lob?
Both players should move to the service line and be prepared for a lob(then smash it)

Ryan I am in this situation a lot and not sure I agree with you that the net player should stay in the service line at amateur level. The one throwing the lob if it is not that long is an easy winner for an amateur down court and a complicated ball if you are at service line and a good lob bouncing in the 2nd half is too risky shot for an amateur probably better let it bounce and lob back

And may I add that if continually you are away from the net the player receiving the lob might get the courage to hit back and a volley from back there is harder

What shot should you play if you are the person hitting back the first lob? And where

You can lob cc or dtl. Doesn’t matter. Just be sure after you lob to quickly move to the service line.

If you hit a dtl where do you move, stay at baseline or move to service line

@@darunia484 lob that goes over their head and lands behind them? Service line.

What if you lob the opponent, but you / your partner is not comfortable at the net and not comfortable hitting overheads? As in, you know you are going to miss the shot a lot. What would you do in this situation then?

Get better at overheads and at the net. It is an essential part of doubles

Continental grip like a serve for your overheads. It’ll change your partners perception of being uncomfortable. The swing takes little effort and produces major results (unlike frying pan overheads that tend to be returnable IF they aren’t hit long by accident).

Net play wins in doubles because it creates angles to win points. If you/your partner are not comfortable at net you will lose to those who are. As you’re learning the game, moving up in ability levels, those that become comfortable at net the fastest will win the most doubles. For me the best way to improve or to get comfortable is to play and make mistakes as you learn what works what doesn’t. As with all shots one is more aggressive on the easier shots and the harder shots you just get back in play. Hope this helps.

    I don’t think this will work for a 3.5 short woman…am I right?
