I've just started getting into stained glass and I have been binging all of your videos. They are so informative and I appreciate what you are doing very much!
Hey ed! I have been a subsriber on my tv for awhile. I remember watching you explain how to make a pattern cutter for copper foil out of 2 strait edge razor blades. Now I cannot find that video again. Could you streer me to that video again? THX!!!!!
Thank you! I forgot about doing that. I didn't realize that the glass had to be roughed up before gluing. I did a piece in 2000 that used amber glue chip and now it is not available anywhere. I'd love to make my own. Am interested in the handle.
WARNING...Sand blasting with playground sand or any other sand produces silicosis in the lungs. Use only aluminum oxide, or nut based media. You can catch the media outdoors in a large trashcan lined with a large trash bag where most of it can be used over again if you do not have a blasting cabinet. This is much safer and please let me stress the use of a respirator and face protection regardless of the media you use. You will be surprised at how hard the ricocheting media hits. Sand blasting can produce the same effect as road rash so cover up and be safe. God bless you all.
That was so interesting and informative!! I watched it last night! 😊
Thanks for watching!

Is etching glass can replace of sandblasting?
You won't get the degree of etching you need for glue chipping. Maybe try to build up to a heavy etch, but it might be too expensive.
What grit is your aluminum oxide?
Nevermind... U just answered it lol
120 Grit

Yes definitely a hood and appropriate respirator!
